it' a shame that you're so stiff/robotic because with a little charisma and passion you should be one of the most popular instructors around. your level of technical proficiency and feel (especially with unbelievable integrity to SRV's tone) is unrivaled.
Hey Drivel, nice playing! What are the specs on your guitar and what amps/pedals do you use to get that SRV tone you are getting? Thanks and i hope im not a burden. :)
What do I think? Man I'm honoured that you even asked me! I think it's fantastic that you are wiling to share your knowledge - and hey why not make a buck or two while you're at it. My ONLY comment is that from years and years of watching and copying other artists - the best way to copy anyone is to get the first person view of the guitar.
In other words a camera looking down on the fretboard above your hands as if you were actually playing it yourself. MUCH better than a mirror view. I'm not sure anyone has done this type of camera angle before but I reckon it would help. Anyway good luck with the project mate!
Meant to add - you really need to be careful about your hearing. If that's as loud as it sounds and you have no ear protection you will go deaf. I wish someone had told me this when I was your age. I now have 50% hearing loss :(
Yeah, my Dad always tells me the same thing. I guess I should stop being lazy about putting some ear plugs in. It's more than worth it in the long run. Thanks for the invaluable advice :-)
Hi from Paris, I confirm the problem with sounds, your own voice is muted everytime. And maybe if you place the camera in front of your left hand really in close-up or put 1 camera on every hand. It's an idea ! In any case, I waited for it for a long time. Thx.
Yeah I actually have two mics and a mixer - so on the actual video I will have a clean and defined sound for both the guitar and the commentary. Feel free to email me if you have any questions pertaining to this project :-)
Yup, using the Twin. I'm not quite sure how much I got it for (I'll have to ask my Dad since he got it for me), but I think it was around $1k - Don't think they sell that model any more.... I am going to go into my equipment and such if I record a full instructional video. So ask as much as you want and I'll take note and include it in the instructional if this comes to fruition!
Jay, you need to ISO the amp in another room and mic it. Also mic yourself and have both go to a mixer to balance the sound .. in this vid every time you play the limiter on the camera puts your voice in the background ... fundamentally a great lesson with lots of detail which is nice ... thx
