The real reason she got voted off is because of that Nikki girl. Nikki was horrible that week, the audience even booed her. Nikki knew she was horriable. Than Nikki started to cry and said she was doing it for her son, people voted for Nikki out of sympathy. That was the first upset ever, Nobody thought Tamyra was going to get voted off. Everyone thought she was going to win. Simon Cowell was so devestated when she lost, the first and only time I saw him look like he was going to cry.

It was totally ridiculous that she outlasted Tamyra, of course. But her votes that week weren't out of sympathy. People were impressed that she was better than usual that week, and they probably assumed Tamyra was bound to be safe.

Nikki may have had her weak moments like "Always Somethng to Remind Me" but she NEVER forgot the words and never was that off key on a song. Its amazing how people really ignore how bad Tamyra's performance was. I don't think Tamyra deserved the boot at all (I think Justin did) but I don't think your assesment is fair to Nikki at all.

It's so funny to see the small crowd that American Idol started off with, and now the crowds and the theaters it is held in----it has become a phenomenon!! It's amazing to see the progression of this show.

she was doing broadway for a minute .. i think it was the broadway show rent... but rent is no longer on broadway .. so she probably went back to atlanta with her tail between her legss.. sometime it work sometimes it dont.
She's been doing a LOT of demo work and has been recently signed (label and release date announcements will be made SOON) -- and I guess I can hear a little Vivian Green. Big fan of hers as well - wish she didn't take so long in between albums either.

Tamyra had the voice and that's it. Anybody that wants to win the show needs the voice, the look, and the personality. Kelly had that. Once TPTB saw that, she instantly became the new chosen one after Tamyra and Justin were because they knew Kelly would make more money for them (which she did). Also Tamyra peaked too early and had no room to grow whereas Kelly kept getting better and better and better every week.

I kind of agree with you. I think a lot of people liked Kelly because they could relate to her, and also because she sort of came out of nowhere since she wasn't seen at all during the audition episodes. But I also think Kelly's voice is more distinguishable than Tamyra's. I think Tamyra is an incredible singer and love her voice, but Kelly's had a unique texture to it as well as an insane range of power.
Tamyra raised her OWN bar each week (which the judges commented after every performance). And Kelly had the look but Tamyra didn't are you serious? Kelly had hair and make up artists to give her a "look". Tamyra showed up with EVERYTHING from the first audition. Not an opinion, but a FACT.

I love Tamyra and also agree that she was spectacular throughout Idol, but did you see her last two performances? She struggled through New Attitude and Feel The Fire was just okay compared to her others. Even she expected to kicked off after that night.

I didn't say they were the worst, I said they weren't as good as her others. And she did INDEED say that she was expecting to go that night. Trust me, it was a shock to me as well.
I often hear people saying Tamyra was "Robbed" off the American Idol title. I would take this statement a step further by saying America "Robbed" itself of an amazing finale (and an amazing idol...had she won) by voting out Tamyra too early.
Watching ALL of her performances on AI, I could not understand for the LIFE of me why she didn't win.
It boggles me just how much more capable she is compared to winners like Jordin Sparks. Vocally, professionally, in terms of showmanship, she was seriously the BEST contestant Idol has produced. I grew to really like Kelly Clarkson over time; but during Idol, Tamyra was the best.
I agree... the first three years of AI had the most talented of singers. But the thing about the first year is that people didn't realize how important a small margin of votes could eliminate someone... and they got a big shocker, not to mention success for the show, when Tamyra got voted off instead of Nikki, causing a huge upset. The following years changed as people realized they had to vote for their fav to keep them on.

american idol is a publicity stunt buy record labels. they send people through this machine to get famous. tamyra was removed because they couldnt have her and kelly(the chosen one) battling off for the finals together. people dont vote for people cause they did good one night they vote becase they like that person so tellme how nikki who was in the bottom3 every week outlasted tamyra who had never been down there.they waited till she was slighty weak one ep and removed her.its scripted tv.
To answer your question, Simon Cowell in his book said that Tamyra's fanbase probably didn't cast enough votes for her because
(a) she was the frontrunner throughout the entire competition
(b) Tamyra came at a time when Whitney & Mariah weren't selling records anymore. The fans just weren't ready to embrace a newer artist like Tamyra. In fact, Simon said had Whitney & Mariah's career still furthered, Tamyra would've been an international superstar.

Tamyra has it going on...the main reason she did not win overall on that season, and Kelly did, was because she did not play up to the audience. Her voice and style although far superior to Kelly, her demeanor is very reserved and too girlish. Kelly smiled and winked and waved at the end of every performance, making most people feel as if she was doing it to them. Kelly has proven she can handle it after she won, Tamyra proved she could handle it on the show.

During the Judges comments in "I Surrender", all Kelly said was "Thank You" and "Amen when Simon said how stressed their vocals must be to do two songs. Later, she said it was "hard for me and Tamyra, but Nikki's strong," No statement of laryngitis at all.
Oh okay. Simon said during his comment in "I Surrender" clip, that he was amazed she could sing because she could not even speak earlier (Kelly and Tamyra could not speak for 2 days and the doctor advised them not to practice prior to that night). It was not about singing 2 songs. The statement of laryngitis was in interviews after Tamyra was voted off.
Simon said people don't know how stressed their vocals are with doing two songs. Ryan Seacrest was the one who brought up the fact that Kelly didn't speak. You obviously don't know music if you think doing "It's Raining Men," and "I Surrender", and "New Attitude" and "Feel The Fire," doesn't stress your vocals.
It is okay if you think I make things up. The "term" laryngitis was after she was voted off, as I stated. I also did not know when she started having the problem with the voice, could be a few days earlier and during the show they almost healed. Who knows. Only Kelly and Tamyra can tell the truth. Classical Piano = Musical Knowledge in singing. I've finished the entire AMEB Grades up to Grade 8. The only part you even sing in piano is in the minute aural section where you have to repeat a melody, or repeat or produce a pitch. That doesn't mean you know vast singing knowledge. You can go through the entire course without ever hearing what a "Vibratto" is.
Also, get your facts right. Don't make up b.s unless you know its correct. IF Tamyra did have laryngitis, then it must have been the waning stages considering she talked fine the following night, so it must have meant she'd taken antibiotics 3 days before to have that effect. You can't have full fledge laryngitis heal in 1 day. So her performance was on the waning stage.
i think tamyra or even melinda doolittle or the others like them dont win IDOL becoz they already are Super brilliant singers.. most people really like someone those type who we can still watch grow, get better and mature in front of us..
It is...but with that being said, Tamyra was the front runner for the whole competition. Judges and fans alike called her the absolute best in the competition. Possibility that she was just too perfect for some. She didn't "grow" each week. But she had a bad night (for her standards), and was eliminated.

I thought Justin was a fantastic singer. Sure, he was lucky to be in the Top 2, but with Ejay, you either hated his voice or loved it. I don't think Tamyra, Latoya or Melinda were robbed. Thats the public voting. Most people who the public voted strongly for - eg. Kelly, Clay, Carrie, who were never in the Bottom 3, sold the most records out of ALL the Idols ever.
I actually like Kelly's voice better. Tamyra's an amazing singer but she's so much like past singers (like Whitney) that she doesn't stand out as much as she deserves to. Kelly's voice is a little more different.

I think she went out 4th because she set the bar higher each week and didn't quite reach it that week. With that said her on a bad day is still better than Nicky and Justin. I watched American Idol rewind and both of them had atleast one bad song that night, but Tamyra went home point-blank-period!
I think Tamyra was probably the best put together singer in all the history of American Idol. She had great fashion sense, a unique voice unlike anyone else, humble and gracious, and a very consistent performer. Kelly had a great voice, and a sense of humour, but she wasn't as polished Tamyra.
Listen to what Simon says...if winning was only by the voice but you see it is not...personnality and behaviour...she hasn't got what it takes to be loved by the whole american people...She was too confident and assume she was going to win and this can put a lot of people off...look at d satement in church...should be private...

I actually think the voting was rigged in a way. It's kind of strange that 5 girls and 5 boys made up the top 10. The fact that the first 3 people to go home were guys even proves that something was wrong. Something was wrong with Christina Christian going home too. Most likely she was really disqualified. However, I think strong contestants go home because people don't bother to vote. The show wouldn't intentionally send their strongest people home, that would be extremely stupid.
She is a good singer.. but.. if this show was rigged, causing her to lose.. why wasn't she a success after the show, past "losers" have gone on to debut with fantastic CDs and terrific careers to follow.. it comes down to voting, the public didn't like her then, and obviously now.. Tamyra who?
Well it was the first season and in my opinion things were really different then. The show was big but in the last few seasons there were 3x as many viewers than the first. There was less attention given to the contestants. Plus, she has done a few things and people definately remember her.
Tamyra was first to be signed to 19 Management -- that was her mistake. She was signed to the best record company J Records (directly under Clive Davis) but was dropped because she wasn't willing to be a puppet on a string. She wanted to write her own songs. You have to respect that. She'll get her time to shine eventually.

Springdream is actually right. I don't care how many producers, judges, or past contestants try to say the show is 100% fair, it's not. Season Two...more drama then you will ever know. The voting isn't always fair. Ever notice how the one's they say will win AI always leave 4th (most of the time anyway). Think about it.

Tamyra was my favorite but the week she was voted off, I voted for (get ready for it) Nikki McKibbin numerous times believing that she would be competing against Justin Guarini for the final spot in the top 3. And I couldn't have been more wrong--and the rest of America was wrong right with me!

I do agree with Kelly Clarkson winning, but this girl deserves MUCH better than 4th place. She is very talented compared to the other competitors in American Idol right now. She deserves a singing contract rather than some other past winners *cough* Taylor *cough*.. Nuff said. ;)

Honestly, this woman should've been in the finale of this season. I do not know how Nikki and Justin made it compared to this talent. She's been doing a LOT of demo work and has been recently signed (label and release date announcements will be made SOON) -- and I guess I can hear a little Vivian Green. Big fan of hers as well - wish she didn't take so long in between albums either.

Tamyra had the voice and that's it. Anybody that wants to win the show needs the voice, the look, and the personality. Kelly had that. Once TPTB saw that, she instantly became the new chosen one after Tamyra and Justin were because they knew Kelly would make more money for them (which she did). Also Tamyra peaked too early and had no room to grow whereas Kelly kept getting better and better and better every week.

I kind of agree with you. I think a lot of people liked Kelly because they could relate to her, and also because she sort of came out of nowhere since she wasn't seen at all during the audition episodes. But I also think Kelly's voice is more distinguishable than Tamyra's. I think Tamyra is an incredible singer and love her voice, but Kelly's had a unique texture to it as well as an insane range of power.

Tamyra raised her OWN bar each week (which the judges commented after every performance). And Kelly had the look but Tamyra didn't are you serious? Kelly had hair and make up artists to give her a "look". Tamyra showed up with EVERYTHING from the first audition. Not an opinion, but a FACT.

I love Tamyra and also agree that she was spectacular throughout Idol, but did you see her last two performances? She struggled through New Attitude and Feel The Fire was just okay compared to her others. Even she expected to kicked off after that night.

I often hear people saying Tamyra was "Robbed" off the American Idol title. I would take this statement a step further by saying America "Robbed" itself of an amazing finale (and an amazing idol...had she won) by voting out Tamyra too early.

Watching ALL of her performances on AI, I could not understand for the LIFE of me why she didn't win.
It boggles me just how much more capable she is compared to winners like Jordin Sparks. Vocally, professionally, in terms of showmanship, she was seriously the BEST contestant Idol has produced. I grew to really like Kelly Clarkson over time; but during Idol, Tamyra was the best.

I agree... the first three years of AI had the most talented of singers. But the thing about the first year is that people didn't realize how important a small margin of votes could eliminate someone... and they got a big shocker, not to mention success for the show, when Tamyra got voted off instead of Nikki, causing a huge upset. The following years changed as people realized they had to vote for their fav to keep them on.

american idol is a publicity stunt buy record labels. they send people through this machine to get famous. tamyra was removed because they couldnt have her and kelly(the chosen one) battling off for the finals together. people dont vote for people cause they did good one night they vote becase they like that person so tellme how nikki who was in the bottom3 every week outlasted tamyra who had never been down there.they waited till she was slighty weak one ep and removed her.its scripted tv.

To answer your question, Simon Cowell in his book said that Tamyra's fanbase probably didn't cast enough votes for her because
(a) she was the frontrunner throughout the entire competition
(b) Tamyra came at a time when Whitney & Mariah weren't selling records anymore. The fans just weren't ready to embrace a newer artist like Tamyra. In fact, Simon said had Whitney & Mariah's career still furthered, Tamyra would've been an international superstar.

Tamyra has it going on...the main reason she did not win overall on that season, and Kelly did, was because she did not play up to the audience. Her voice and style although far superior to Kelly, her demeanor is very reserved and too girlish. Kelly smiled and winked and waved at the end of every performance, making most people feel as if she was doing it to them. Kelly has proven she can handle it after she won, Tamyra proved she could handle it on the show.

Actually, its because she had to do two songs. Also, she chose the wrong songs - "New Attitude" wasn't right for her, and "Feel The Fire", was outshined by Kelly's "I Surrender", Justin's "Get Here", and Nikki's MAJOR improvement.

No, I wasn't aware, because it never happened. I re-watched that week. During the Judges comments in "I Surrender", all Kelly said was "Thank You" and "Amen when Simon said how stressed their vocals must be to do two songs. Later, she said it was "hard for me and Tamyra, but Nikki's strong," No statement of laryngitis at all.

Oh okay. Simon said during his comment in "I Surrender" clip, that he was amazed she could sing because she could not even speak earlier (Kelly and Tamyra could not speak for 2 days and the doctor advised them not to practice prior to that night). It was not about singing 2 songs. The statement of laryngitis was in interviews after Tamyra was voted off.

I also did not know when she started having the problem with the voice, could be a few days earlier and during the show they almost healed. Who knows. Only Kelly and Tamyra can tell the truth. Classical Piano = Musical Knowledge in singing. I've finished the entire AMEB Grades up to Grade 8. The only part you even sing in piano is in the minute aural section where you have to repeat a melody, or repeat or produce a pitch. That doesn't mean you know vast singing knowledge. You can go through the entire course without ever hearing what a "Vibratto" is.

IF Tamyra did have laryngitis, then it must have been the waning stages considering she talked fine the following night, so it must have meant she'd taken antibiotics 3 days before to have that effect. You can't have full fledge laryngitis heal in 1 day. So her performance was on the waning stage.

It is...but with that being said, Tamyra was the front runner for the whole competition. Judges and fans alike called her the absolute best in the competition. Possibility that she was just too perfect for some. She didn't "grow" each week. But she had a bad night (for her standards), and was eliminated.

I thought Justin was a fantastic singer. Sure, he was lucky to be in the Top 2, but with Ejay, you either hated his voice or loved it. I don't think Tamyra, Latoya or Melinda were robbed. Thats the public voting. Most people who the public voted strongly for - eg. Kelly, Clay, Carrie, who were never in the Bottom 3, sold the most records out of ALL the Idols ever.

I think she went out 4th because she set the bar higher each week and didn't quite reach it that week. With that said her on a bad day is still better than Nicky and Justin. I watched American Idol rewind and both of them had atleast one bad song that night, but Tamyra went home point-blank-period!

I think Tamyra was probably the best put together singer in all the history of American Idol. She had great fashion sense, a unique voice unlike anyone else, humble and gracious, and a very consistent performer. Kelly had a great voice, and a sense of humour, but she wasn't as polished Tamyra.

I actually think the voting was rigged in a way. It's kind of strange that 5 girls and 5 boys made up the top 10. The fact that the first 3 people to go home were guys even proves that something was wrong. Something was wrong with Christina Christian going home too. Most likely she was really disqualified. However, I think strong contestants go home because people don't bother to vote. The show wouldn't intentionally send their strongest people home, that would be extremely stupid.

Well it was the first season and in my opinion things were really different then. The show was big but in the last few seasons there were 3x as many viewers than the first. There was less attention given to the contestants. Plus, she has done a few things and people definately remember her.

Tamyra was first to be signed to 19 Management -- that was her mistake. She was signed to the best record company J Records (directly under Clive Davis) but was dropped because she wasn't willing to be a puppet on a string. She wanted to write her own songs. You have to respect that. She'll get her time to shine eventually.

Springdream is actually right. I don't care how many producers, judges, or past contestants try to say the show is 100% fair, it's not. Season Two...more drama then you will ever know. The voting isn't always fair. Ever notice how the one's they say will win AI always leave 4th (most of the time anyway). Think about it.

Tamyra was my favorite but the week she was voted off, I voted for (get ready for it) Nikki McKibbin numerous times believing that she would be competing against Justin Guarini for the final spot in the top 3. And I couldn't have been more wrong--and the rest of America was wrong right with me!

First of all, I didn't say anything about the voters being biased against her. The show has been accused many times - and it hasn't been proven false - that the voters don't really choose the outcome; instead, producers and other big wigs in the show make it happen the way they think it should be.
