i want to see you do a drum cover of royal orleans . Just cuz I love the drums in that song . Dont know if it is particularly difficult , but I digs it . great playing here man .
set a metronome to a slower tempo than the song and practice the it without the music. I always slow things down and then when I feel like i know it well, then I'll try to tempo.
Man what a tough fill at 2:10 on the original live track with the timpanis, always had trouble duplicating that. Typical Bonham, keepin the tempo loose haha. Excellent job on these vids. I wanted to be Bonham so bad when I first started playing drums... RIP.
no prob...to get the same "cut" on a non ported bass drum you need one mic on both sides but a ported only needs the mic inside the hole. But the playability is the big difference. The hole lets air escape and reduces the bounce back or "flutter".
The 26" is harder to play but the sound is unbeatable imo. Took a couple of months to get used to. The trick is NOT to let the beater rest on the head, don't "bury" the beater. A 24" is close to a 22" in the playability. Another thing to make it easier to play a 26" is to have a port but you lose the big, round sound.
Yeah, I saw that too. Once Jimmy figured out how to get a huge sound that muffling was gone. Even to this day, Ian Paice lines his bass drum with 2" foam.
Do you have the version from "Listen To This Eddie"? I'd love to see hear play the intro to that one. It's one of my all time favourite Bonzo moments - just amazing. As is this, fantastic job!
Man I love Bonham and his greasy grooves. Great playing, love the kit too! You wouldn't have a solo'd out track of just your playing on this would you? Please let me know, this is one of my all time favorites that I like to add multis to.

Amazing sounding kit ! Great Cover, on your profile it says you live in Canada, do you live in Kingston, Ontario by any chance? I saw a guy that looked EXACTLY like you at my church, hahaha, I felt like going up to him and asking if it was you! But great job !
sounds sweet as usual : ) question: I posted myself playing the studio version of this a year ago, but it got taken down because of Led Zeppelins copyright problems or whatever. How do you keep your zeppelin covers up?
This happened to the Deep Purple Burn vid I made. Soemone told me that you can dispute the claim, sorta like ebay. This is what I did and the vid is now up. Surprisingly, I haven't been stopped for any other vids, but they tagged my Hendrix vid for copyright claim although the vid is still up. The dispute I replied with was that the vid was for educational purposes. Let me know if you can't find the dispute link.
That depends...most expensive would be either DW or Sonar, best value with good sound either Yamaha Ryden or Pearl Export. Best sounding, (IMO) are Ludwig and Pearl.
Great video, the technique you used to record and produce it is a winner, keep it. Three split frames, nice. Like the loose bass foot, let the 26" ring. It looks like an old speed king, but not quite? Song remains the same is one of my favorite LZ songs.
Great job Dan. The split screens with different camera angles are good this time.
If I may be so bold to give a little comment: I would put the top camera view large in the middle and the other views smaller right next to it (front view on top, foot view at the bottom). And try to make the views exactly the same size, that would look more pro. Depending on your software, switching views (zooming the foot and front view and then back) would make it even better.
Can I ask what software you used to do the split screen effect? I use Vegas which is good stuff. But there seems to be no way to sync videos aside from dragging the tracks with the mouse. Its very imprecise when you need millisecond accuracy.
No one alive today compares with you on the terms of really getting into what Bonham did, Dan. Theres only one person whos better at being John Bonham for 5 and a half mins... sadly he died in 1980, great cover!
True, well in england right now its 23:40 so a bit late to start blasting marshalls haha, but I will see when I restring my double neck, may get a real good take to ur good old drum track. Im off to bed man, nighty night!
