  • Humans are going far getting no WHERE, the way we are.

  • I want to go back to 1985. A good time to be a teenager.

  • Great track, never seen the video before.

    i found :

    til to tomorow

    climb de ladder

  • Kicks 70s AOR right in the ass!

  • I think this is the 1st time Tears for Fears

    are coming to the Philippines?

  • They will have a concert here in the Philippines on May 2! I can't wait!

  • Songs From The Big Chair was definately the best.

  • The more I listen to the earlier TFF songs, the more I love Manny Elias on the drums. I've become more aware of the underlying beats of the songs and I think it's a shame that Manny Elias and Ian Stanley both left.

TFF is great in any era, but there was an extra something with their first albums.

  • Roland awful dancer? Perhaps, back then shadow dancing was distinctively Roland and uniquely TFF. It was hip and the kids were all shadow dancing. I am not too bothered what my kids are going to say, it is distinctly my generation and the fond memories I treasure.

  • @FOVON I don't think Roland was an awful dancer or gay. I actually think the way he moves is quite appealing and unique (mad world, mothers talk). I know how people perceive difference these days and I disagree. I don't care if it was hip only back then. I was born in 85, which means, I guess, that I'm still considered to be a kid since I wasn't alive when TfF played in the radio. I still prefer their work (& Roland's dance) than what I hear now. It's a shame he doesn't dance like that anymore.

  • @minily I agree...AND its a shame that Curt doesnt dance the same also.I really like the style of hair and dance and song more in the begining. LIke Pale Shelter..Change..Mad World..ect. Thats just me. Same goes for Duran Duran And ESPECIALLY U2!

  • @xPikmin2x But I love how Curt moves too. He's maybe not as extrovert as Roland, but the way he moves with his bass is so cute. And I really love the frizzy bangs he used to sport with the long braids in the back. Imagine if he was still sporting that hairstyle now... that'd be...!

  • @minily lol.

  • @xPikmin2x exactly!

  • @minily You are funny! lol. okay I went to your profile and I saw that other CHANGE video. Ive never seen that one! ooH me like !! Only whats with the weird creepy people huh? I thin that was Rolands idea he seema real creative. He looks like a little boy when hes dancing at the end with the creeps. Funny. Curt looks all calm.:-)

  • @xPikmin2x I love the change promo video. And YES! Roland is so cute in it with his weird little dancing routine! One interesting trivia is that Ian was one of the masked people following Roland. Great video with great dancing and great hairstyle.(by the way, that wasn't my video but one I favorited) If you like Roland moves, check out the The way you are, Mothers talk (US version) and Mothers talk live in some british show I think. It'll be a treat for you eyes!

  • @xPikmin2x Oh, forget about my suggestion of the way you are video... just realized we are actually on the comment board of THAT video. Instead, check out the mad world one on TOTP. Roland does his dance in it (because it's playback as always).

  • @minily aawww did you notice the tiny lil' Rowland dancing in Curts hand in this The Way You Are clip? I didnt notice that before!

  • @xPikmin2x I did see that tiny dancing person. I wasn't sure if it was RoWland (lol...) but I guess it's him, with a trench coat. Oh my, I could talk for days just about how Roland moves!

  • Curt Smith: Awesome and Great Voice/Singer/Writer as well.

    Great Vid.

It reminds me of a Great Memories.

  • roland is so adorable.

  • dam they were young!!!

    and hott of course

    i love TEARS FO FEARS

    alwayzz have and alwayzz will

  • I love 80's! why I lost them?! why I had to be born in 90's

  • I love the old style 'slam shut ' doors on the trains very 1980s indeed ! great song too.

  • ana aren't in the rock'n'roll hall of fame

  • lovely song!

  • wow

  • Wow, I didn't even know there was a video for this song. Very cool! :D

  • i love the tears for fears!! :3 i ask my friends and none of them have ever heard of TFF. some people just dont know good music :) very nice, love this song, love tear for fears!!! thanx for posting this!

  • @mshappygoluckygurl

I have to agree, i feel like i'm the only person in the world that loves the 60s and 80s

    ☺Tears For Fears Forever☺

  • @SGTKITTY84 nah i doo too!

  • damn Roland Orazabal's dancing is hot and so is his stomach, I wish he danced in a belly shirt more often

  • @kggjlrins I can understand women dancing like Orzabal, but he looks like gay

  • Curt on "The Way You Are" (from his website): "It was a confusing time for us as we hadn't found a real direction after "The Hurting". We're really not into doing one off singles as it doesn't allow you the creative room that an album does. It's OK but certainly not the best thing we've done."

I guess what's said on wikipedia is a bit overstated.

  • On wikipedia, Curt and Roland are both quoted as saying that they really dislike this song. I just can't believe that. I wish I could ask them how they feel about it. I bet they'd say they love it.

  • TheNouveauxdecadence

I couldn't agree with you more!

  • I love it so much

  • hey, I was emo before emo was depressing

  • This was filmed in my home town of Swindon, at the railway works ( it closed down about 15 years ago..this is a beautiful insight into the workings of a rare railway engineering works) .. not a bad track either.

  • hello

    cheers

happy new year and best wishes

    claudine movsessian

  • this is the best song ever ps i am a big tff fan and i am only 10 years old

  • i love this band. after listening to this, i want to go upstairs and hug and kiss my wife and tell her how much i love her....thank you so much for posting this...

  • Roland dancing is funny -q <3

  • @BakaLoveless

There is NOTHING funny about Roland's dancing. Roland danced absolutely full of PERFECTION and EXPRESSION. Just STUNNING +

  • @TheNouveauxdecadence when roland dances it reminds me of the karate kid!!! the original version with ralph maccio...

  • old? duh its 80s music

  • rad new wave track

  • Must be a very old video, British people are engineering in it. Not a call centre in site.

  • cacaroq - Where are the real TFF fans around here on YT? I haven't been on YT for a while & then when I go to watch some of my fave vids, they have fake comments by people who don't really care about TFF music, videos or really music in general. What gives?? Have U noticed that too? Maybe it's just a few pages, I dunno but man I have been seeing a lot of tubers doing this lately & it drives me nuts, for I like getting 2 know TFF fans. I think they just want us 2 go 2 their channel 4 the numbers

  • i guess people have lost their sense of meaning, and only go by the numbers nowadays.

  • :) I'm 15, and not all of us are dumb like that, though I have to admit I do listen to bands such as Disturbed (did a metal-like cover for Shout). I like basically tons of music from classical to heavy metal.

  • i know what you mean, it certinly drives me round the bend.

  • I here you, (while the comments about workplace health and safety and industrial manufacturing are mildly amusing)...but we are out there - just a little concealed among those other "tubers" you speak of (the potatoes and the like). Rest assured, you have kin in Australia - just like Roland.

  • the bass on the chorus is so fuckin confusing!

  • Still cant believe those blokes in the factory dont ware ear protection

  • i love the sound of the bass guitar in this song. :3

  • no, she was one of Curt's friends.

  • Is the blond LADY Roland's Wife?

  • No. Her name was Claire and she was the photographer on the set. You can see Caroline, Roland's wife, in "Sowing the Seeds of Love".

  • She was also in Secrets version 2.

  • These guys are geniuses...they're sick....up to now, they're music still sounds fresh...

  • My word, does Curt not look *young*?

  • this song is awesome, the dual vox

    the rockplast cut is tremend

  • TFF is the greates band ever in my oppinion but I just cant excuse this song. =( Hey, but sucky bad tune out of all those years isnt bad!

  • what! thats funny bcuz now they dont like it either, but i find it one of thier best bcuz its huanting and- it makes me wanna quit my job!

  • this song blows. sorry guys i aint diggin this one. mad world was pretty good though

  • going far... getting nowhere! the way you are!.... man, TFF rules!!

  • OMG Tears For Fears=legends of the 80's!

  • i love - the way you are - i have in on 12" inch extended version.

  • got 2 of their greatest hits and i knew there was a tune missing this one why do they leave this one out..

  • I was an avid fan of TFF in the 80's and I recall they were very disappointed with the layout of this song and regretted ever releasing it in this format. It could be that it may be a little disjointed but I never really knew why and I really liked it - then again, they never could do much wrong by me, haha!

  • Oh, Love my boys! =) Roland's cuteness is something out of this world. I think the world of Tears For Fears.

  • There once were these artifacts called singles, long ago..

    AMEN

BRING BACK THE 80s THIS SHIT TODAY SUCKS.....

We can keep all the new technology like , home computers, internet, flex fuel vehicles , evs ect. ect. ect. though......

  • "Going far, getting nowhere into tomorrow" I will one day tell my grandkids about the time when lyrics used to be important in a song... so many good lyrics from TFF through the years !!!

  • your my idol i agree

  • Edhallick and bhirtler I agree

It's good to hear that I'm not the only one who feels that way too. Thank God for the archives. All this silly fake so called artist now a days. Give me a break who you fooling.

  • These guys were really good, great actually, which is probably why you don`t hear them on the radio anymore ever since the law passed. The law of the music industry that states the music industry will only promote and over promote musicians who absolutely suck ass, who lip sinc, who rip off Joe Satriani and those who sound like 20 billion other rappers

  • I couldn't have said it better myself. I agree with you 100%. Musicians of today don't even make music they make noise!

  • I was waiting for so long to hear you guys say this nobody even tries any more the just say one word and the DJ makes a song of it, But is it even a song?

  • i love your username terminator363!

i like the teminator films they are great

  • uh? I never made anything what so ever about the terminator movies (i dont even like them) its just my username................

  • @Edhallick Couldn't have said it better!

  • Curt is finally grouped up and reconciled with roland..Curt now lives in New York..

  • Actually Curt lives in Los Angeles with his wife and his daughters.

  • TFF hate this song now...I always loved it

  • i need the hurting VHS so i can play this over and over and over and over....etc

    girrrrrrrr........

  • Yer anyway i cant believe the blokes in the factory don't ware eny ear protection, you'd be fucked at the end of the day ( how else do i put it )

  • I wish Curt and Ronald would come back out on tour. I would not miss a show. I love Curt.

  • Well, they are... in the summer. Only on the west though. I had the dates but i can only remember July 18th in Las Vegas because that's the one I am going to :-)

I don't where you are... hope you can make it. Check the dates on line on their fanclub website.

  • Yeah, I am going on july 17 to see them in Costa Mesa, It's gonna be awesome!

  • you are to lucky..lol.

    wish i could.

  • Cool, Ill be there too :)

  • Cool! Me three! I shall be there, too.

  • yayyyyyyyy see you all there lol

  • Lmaoooooo oh well come jam with TFF anyway. I wanna see Depeche too, but no one wants to go with me lol

  • I don't think it's humanly possible to get a Depeche Mode ticket, not after the first minute they're available, anyway. :)

But back to TFF, when the tickets went on special pre-sale for the Costa Mesa show, I jumped in, and couldn't get one for the first four, five minutes. I thought I'd be locked out completely, but right at five minutes after 10 a.m., I was able to secure one.

  • Well id only need one ticket so im sure I can find on, sometimes people sell them on craigslist as well so check there. which reminds me I better get my Coldplay ticket too

  • i like this one of the video better because its louder than the olther one :)

  • people, tears for fears is not a gay band.

Curt was married twice and have 2 kids

Ronald is currently married and have 2 kids

  • I myself am not gay, but you anti-Tears For Fears think they're gay people should just should the hell up!

  • 'should the hell up' ? lol

  • Sorry I meant should shut the hell up, but I said should the hell up. lol. they should should the hell up! lol

  • This is a great song, wonder why this song wasn't on "the hurting"?

  • Because "The Way You Are" was a single released in 1983. The Hurting was issued in 1982. That's why. There once were these artifacts called singles, long ago...

  • oh my god first time ever hearing this video and i thik ive just fell in love with it!!!

curt is so hot..i think im going to get a heart attack from his hottness!

  • am i the only one who's getting sick of all the comments on tff clips saying that they look or sounds "gay"?

sorry i had to get it out off my chest

  • nope, I'm sick of all the negative comments too!

  • i love the music too. still think sounds kind of gay hahahahaha

  • Comment removed

  • Classic, love the complex arrangements and unusual synth sounds, and the lyrics about the hoplessness of peoples lives ive always loved this track, they were displeased with this song when they brought it out in 1982, but i always loved it they were one of the pioneers in experimental new wave post punk sounds

  • omg ro what did you do to your hair!!!

  • So glad to finally see the video of that song! TFF is the best!

  • wow must find this to download on phone like the olther 13 TFF songs i got on there.

  • Thanks for posting this. I had never seen this video before. What a find!

  • thanx for the cool video im a TFF fan and ive never seen or heard this song before

  • i miss the 80's... they just don't make music like this anymore...

  • i love the way this song expresses the dehumanization of the modern work place or more exactly depersonalization. going far getting nowhere. what is the purpose of this life and what is my place in it

  • Well said. I agree.

  • thanks, :)

  • Hey!! I didn't mean that in a negative way!!

  • Comment removed

  • Oh a comment that I had made earlier about Roland's dancing. I actually like Ro's dancing. :)

  • lol we can see that dance on the video "let's go to bed" from The Cure. it was the dance of hte beginning of hte 80's.

  • Oh there's a comment that I made 7MONTHS AGO about Ro's dancing.

  • You'd be correct. They both hated this song and knew they needed to make a change to their songs.

  • lol ye same im only 13 yet i wish i could hav been alive in the 80s i love the music and the fashion and everything about the 80s! Especially tears for fears!

  • I finally figured out where I saw those strange dance moves, it's Tai-chi

  • This is really awesome! Tears for Fears rocks!

  • The both have beautiful voices. They are just different and that's why they compliment each other so well.

  • Actually, they are equal in there own different way. Their voices just happen to go better with certain songs. The differences go well with each other.

  • Huh...how can Curt be better?

    Roland writes and sings everything!

  • Roland sure was fond of doing strange dances in the background of these early videos XD

  • I LUV THIS SONG!

  • They were always cool

  • Curt's greatest Musical essay on minium wage.

  • I'm totally putting this on my favorites!!! Nice video.

  • roland's dancing was beastly... too bad he got old.

  • funny dancing i guess its kinda cool though that one scene.

  • Gah, I can't stand people who think it's soooo important to know everything about a band you listen to. Like it's some kind of competition; "who is the best fan". Or maybe the most obsessed one.

  • Yes! I totally agree!

  • Comment removed

  • Going Far, Getting Nowhere. Going Far. The Way You Are!;)

  • Roland baby, I love you, but that shirt at 1:08-1:12 has got to go! I see where the Mad World/Pale Shelter karate chop dancing came from now.

  • those videos actually came first.

  • Yeah, I know, I was backwards.

  • i love Roland's kung foo dancing :)

  • it's not kung fu, it's shamanism as he explained in his interviews.

  • shamanism? I want to see these interviews...are they on youtube?
