@TheGreekLOL Depends on the game. And AD/AP aren't the only ones, full-survivability Warwick and on-hit stacking WW are good too. Versatile champ. I like my Magewick though.

i found out if you go magewick and you want to jungle you can use a 9-0-21 and buy an little ap book and hp at the start with hunger strike and start at double golem but smite the big wraith on the way there and do double golem use hp pot try to save on mana then kill the wraiths get as then kill wolves then if you want you can go back but you can also continue go blue then wraiths red and be at full health for a gank the runes i use are as reds mana regen yellows and flat hp blues and 3 hp quin

AP Sion was one of my mains back in the day, and I still play him regularly. =P
myeah I do know what he can do. His q can deal over 50% dmg against a squishy ranged and about 35-40% against a good carry, res not included. The problem is that it's the only dmg output available to him and it's very short ranged. Against a well coordinated team, you won't live another 4 secs to do it again, if you are worthy enough to get the focus. Anyway I don't feel like arguing about it that much, it's still probably better than the ap blitz I play >_>
@liljeed Sounds about right in damage estimation, but - the thing is, he's not supposed to initiate against a well coordinated team. I'm sure since you say you play AP Sion that you get the idea- he has to watch his surroundings carefully (Magewick more so), but can get out of some surprisingly deep shit thanks to just how much his Q gives back late game. I've escaped 4 man ganks at the 35 minute mark with about 30 HP at the end that I'd -never- dreamed I'd be able to (then I'm back at full. =P)
ok as somneone who only plays ww with ap, I personally prefer it, his q hits hard as hell with ap even agaisnt minions and agaisnt squishies so you can heal easily when running away or after i fight to stay in the lane. Also, items that add ap (malady rageblade) also benefit ap ww as well with malady making his ult hit much harder with an added 120 damage. He isn't a bad build and anyone that isn't a moron can figure out a good build with him without a guide =/
@katelynnoelina My issue with both Malady and Rageblade on Magewick is that for his play-style and forte, you're either relying on auto-attacking the enemy mid~late game (that's borderline suicidal), or relying on using your ult more offensively than for utility (same.) I can see the use of both.. but can't advocate them.
@katelynnoelina Core items as Sheen, Spirit visage and Rylais Crystal Scepter have granted me legendary wins. Best way how to turn game in your favor is to lane first, from my experience enemies in every round will stay by the turret while you will be having full hp. Cmon they just dont hawe such hp regen, so if you cant get them coz they are hiding by their turret and you have lvl 3-5 dont waste time and go grab blue buff. Then come back to finish your enemy off or just gank mid.
I would laugh, but im actually going to cry because I got owned once in a 3v3 match against a Magewick. Yes, they were noobish team, but youve played well, gz on that. It seems really fun, you guys had fun (even Tiamat Pantheon xD) so thats what game is all about, right? Hoping to see some more of this "winfail" builds!
Yeah, I can say that the only reason he got any sort of success is because the enemy team was a complete newb team, and that he was fed aggressively early on. Any decent ranged DPS would kill him in seconds.. big big squishy - with a heal.
@WowMike2002 Agreed, but then again, we were a complete noob team back then too. Magewick's guide has been updated and its usefulness has been significantly increased, especially with Deathcap's introduction.
@liljeed First off, it doesn't deal 20% until level 5 of the skill. Secondly, at all stages of Hungering Strike if following the build properly, you will be significantly exceeding the % scaling on his Q, making it "viable."
Played this way, Warwick's Q is basically a far superior albeit higher CD version of Vladimir's Transfusion.
@liljeed nvm my last comment, what I mean is that sacrificing everything else only to strengthen a single skill that already does 20% of hp isn't worth it. I know it can be really fun, I myself like to run some weird but effective build to surprise people or just for fun, but you won't see these builds in a tournament for reason. (yes I've already done magewick)
Beside, why don't you use lich bane? (in your new build) Since the only think magewick can do effectively is be an assassin, you might as well want to double his burst to be able to get out more quickly. Some extra movement speed doesn't hurt too especially since his e isn't reliable enough to be an escape mechanism.
@liljeed Magewick is not an assassin by forte. Lich Bane is in the build (as an alternate item near the end), however it is not a major item.
The core items in the build lend more to him overall (be it large boosts in AP which makes or breaks the build working, mana building faster for AAS, making his Q heal for more), while Lich Bane only justifies its cost on him later in the game since otherwise, it relies on you breaking his very risky poke-play style to whack people and/or use(to be cont.
@liljeed (cont.) his ult in an offensive fashion which he is not built to do since he does not condone Bloodrazor or other on-hit items of the sort, and will not deal decent damage with Lich Bane and ult until again, late game.
It's a nice item, but it's not something I'd recommend gunning to build since often, that'd hurt more than help him. He's not in "tournaments" because he's often played for fun and is situational in use, not because he's "not viable."
He is using lichbane in the video, and it's a must have if you want to do decent damage. Magewick early game plays a lot like normal Warwick, that is, you want to Jungle and only come out for ganks. And don't let anyone else steal your golem buff, because unlike normal WW, you can't kill anything without mana.
This isn't about being effective, this is about trying an unconventional build on a character and succeeding. Just like playing an AD Janna or tank Veigar. Except Magewick is a million times more awesome. Some people just like having fun while playing.
Not to mention that the massive damage/heal from HS is *VERY* intimidating, and will send many foes running for their lives, or even just flinching for a second. Every millisecond you can get between those HSes increases your chances by a lot :)
If you have bushes next to you while fighting, just step in and out of them every time you use it, and they lose 1-2 attacks. Magewick is da man(atee)!
HS: 4.8 sec CD with the max CDR, damage on the level of a good caster main nuke and healing comparable to an AP Soraka (minus the magic resist of course). As long as you can avoid as much damage as possible between those CDs (the ulti of course helps a lot) this build can work wonders

man...ive been playing as magewick competitively at level 30 after a few trial runs after reading your forum post and following posts about him. Honestly, make as much fun as you want about how he's not supposed to be built that way, look at the scoreboards. He's nasty. when you smack for 700 and heal for 700, it instantly makes a seemingly even match seem very one-sided. Thank you for bringing this idea to my attention. He's one of my favorite characters.

Except let's go back to the actual match, where you never scored a single ace, only did well against a different lane early game and did mediocre the rest of the game, got eaten alive by Magewick even with your weak amount of MR, and in general got carried by your Yi after that. Hungering Strike: Strikes an enemy for the greater value between 75 / 125 / 175 / 225 / 275 (+1 per ability power) and 8 / 11 / 14 / 17 / 20% of the target's maximum health.
You have about 300 AP at the end, that makes it either about 500 hp or 20% of max health. On a 2k hp champ that gives you 100hp difference, totally not worth it xD.
@SmashingLink I actually had around 537 AP + 40% Magic Pen :3 so it was hitting around 775 + 20% Max HP, on a 2k champion it would hit for 1175 and I would get all the HP back in return. Totally worth it, but not efficient. ^^ Deathfire and lichbane made it possible for me to get kills.
@SonicDeluxx What makes it viable is the CD, which is pretty low, and odd mechanics like Lich Bane applying to his ultimate. It's less the raw damage output and more that Magewick will likely out-survive you regardless of who you are if played correctly, while regular Warwick's lifesteal for the most part can be nulled out of the picture in a variety of ways. Folks don't expect you to play him that way, so it catches them off-guard.
Game has changed a ton since then obviously. I still wait patiently, for the day Riot screws up and makes Magewick doable again.
When metas swapped ages ago and AP mids became popular, so did Magewick's place disappear...for now.

I know it can be really fun, I myself like to run some weird but effective build to surprise people or just for fun, but you won't see these builds in a tournament for reason. (yes I've already done magewick)

Beside, why don't you use lich bane? (in your new build) Since the only think magewick can do effectively is be an assassin, you might as well want to double his burst to be able to get out more quickly. Some extra movement speed doesn't hurt too especially since his e isn't reliable enough to be an escape mechanism.

@liljeed Magewick is not an assassin by forte. Lich Bane is in the build (as an alternate item near the end), however it is not a major item.
The core items in the build lend more to him overall (be it large boosts in AP which makes or breaks the build working, mana building faster for AAS, making his Q heal for more), while Lich Bane only justifies its cost on him later in the game since otherwise, it relies on you breaking his very risky poke-play style to whack people and/or use(to be cont.

@liljeed (cont.) his ult in an offensive fashion which he is not built to do since he does not condone Bloodrazor or other on-hit items of the sort, and will not deal decent damage with Lich Bane and ult until again, late game.
It's a nice item, but it's not something I'd recommend gunning to build since often, that'd hurt more than help him. He's not in "tournaments" because he's often played for fun and is situational in use, not because he's "not viable."

He is using lichbane in the video, and it's a must have if you want to do decent damage. Magewick early game plays a lot like normal Warwick, that is, you want to Jungle and only come out for ganks. And don't let anyone else steal your golem buff, because unlike normal WW, you can't kill anything without mana.

This isn't about being effective, this is about trying an unconventional build on a character and succeeding. Just like playing an AD Janna or tank Veigar. Except Magewick is a million times more awesome. Some people just like having fun while playing.

Not to mention that the massive damage/heal from HS is *VERY* intimidating, and will send many foes running for their lives, or even just flinching for a second. Every millisecond you can get between those HSes increases your chances by a lot :)
If you have bushes next to you while fighting, just step in and out of them every time you use it, and they lose 1-2 attacks. Magewick is da man(atee)!

HS: 4.8 sec CD with the max CDR, damage on the level of a good caster main nuke and healing comparable to an AP Soraka (minus the magic resist of course). As long as you can avoid as much damage as possible between those CDs (the ulti of course helps a lot) this build can work wonders

Also, leaguecraft needs a Magewick skin. A blue wizard hat on the base skin would be good enough! Someone make it!

I'm not experienced with it, but one of these days, I really want to try my hand at making a Magewick skin unless someone else picks up on it first (which I heavily approve of.) As for Magewick in general, I'm trying some variants of the core build just to see if they work better, but overall, I'm highly impressed with the results I've been getting from other players with Magewick.

I see that you are a beta tester. I wish they had released Urf, but I understand why he wasn't. Clearly, as this video shows, he is overpowered.

@K0M0D0BANAAN It's something I really need to work on to become a better player is remembering to activate Zhonya. I'll admit I have a problem, everytime I die I'm like "Oh ya I have zhonya... damnit."
On side note, I don't have a problem with any other activated items... wonder why.

man...ive been playing as magewick competitively at level 30 after a few trial runs after reading your forum post and following posts about him. Honestly, make as much fun as you want about how he's not supposed to be built that way, look at the scoreboards. He's nasty. when you smack for 700 and heal for 700, it instantly makes a seemingly even match seem very one-sided. Thank you for bringing this idea to my attention. He's one of my favorite characters.

Except let's go back to the actual match, where you never scored a single ace, only did well against a different lane early game and did mediocre the rest of the game, got eaten alive by Magewick even with your weak amount of MR, and in general got carried by your Yi after that. You did nothing worth putting you in this video, at any point in the game, so we didn't.
This video isn't "MAGEWICK vs KINDA BAD KEN." None of your crying will change that, ever.

Man thats somewhat useless xD. I know you are doing it for fun but...
Hungering Strike: Strikes an enemy for the greater value between 75 / 125 / 175 / 225 / 275 (+1 per ability power) and 8 / 11 / 14 / 17 / 20% of the target's maximum health.
You have about 300 AP at the end, that makes it either about 500 hp or 20% of max health. On a 2k hp champ that gives you 100hp difference, totally not worth it xD.

@SmashingLink I actually had around 537 AP + 40% Magic Pen :3 so it was hitting around 775 + 20% Max HP, on a 2k champion it would hit for 1175 and I would get all the HP back in return. Totally worth it, but not efficient. ^^ Deathfire and lichbane made it possible for me to get kills.

@SonicDeluxx What makes it viable is the CD, which is pretty low, and odd mechanics like Lich Bane applying to his ultimate. It's less the raw damage output and more that Magewick will likely out-survive you regardless of who you are if played correctly, while regular Warwick's lifesteal for the most part can be nulled out of the picture in a variety of ways. Folks don't expect you to play him that way, so it catches them off-guard.
..That and he's Magewick. Magewick is powerful.
