I have played this song so many times I have lost count, but enough that I can "hear it inside my head" when it is NOT actually being played. It is so deeply spiritual, soothing, beautiful and poignant. If it is not my most favorite song, it has to be in the top five, it gives me hope, peace and strength. Robbie Robertson is a true artist, and in my opinion, he is very Under-Rated. Thank you, Robbie for this wonderful composition, it reaches the very depths of my heart & soul. Many Blessings

Recently found out I am part Cherokee as well as Scot. Proud of my native American heritage. I have always been drawn to it...not knowing it was in my blood. I am so happy to find this out. God bless the Cherokee Nation. Great Spirit is everywhere.
this is beautiful. im white and i believe that native americans r a wonderful, rich people with a great culture, i prefer native culture over my own. i also believe that native americans ARE TRUE AMERICANS. long live the great native american tribes and their culture.
funny, my kids are part choctaw - my fatherinlaw just recently found a living ancestor in OK - his choctaw great grandmother - he never did get to meet her though :( so sad. I'm from the east coast, i really miss the pow-wows out there. This all brings me back, to what, or who, i don't know.
I am happy that I am part Cherokee. But I am mostly white so I cannot join any tribe. Still I smile on the inside. May God bless you. I thank you for this music.
@IROQUOISDANCER I am not laughing at you. The word is really funny to me. I am not a true "cherohonkey". My family just kept telling us that we came from the Cherokee though I see no rock solid proof beyond the story that was passed down. Who really knows. But being told that story makes me feel Cherokee inside. Perhaps I will run the DNA test someday just to find out. But that cost a lot of money so maybe not. Unelanvhi udadolisdi
@CherokeeOutlaw0301 I couldn't tell you. I have not done the family research for myself. The story has just been passed down. I suppose it is true. Seems like great, great, great, grand mother for one was full Cherokee. I suppose many Americans can say that though.
@Gandoff2000 I also am mostly white, but with Cherokee blood from a great-grandmother on my mother's side. Proud to have resently learned this! This song is indeed very beautifull, as are all of Robbie Robertson's song's.
U did it again . I love the way Allah has made me , but if I had a choice I would definitely want to be a Native American . And by that I mean I would have loved to live and be NA in the times before this beautiful civilisation was penetrated . I really love your people .
dimkero12 what the heck are you talking about ....absolutely no relevance here to the Muslims....learn English first and then post your responses. Moron!!!!!

btw how are you guys celebrating Thanksgiving? You know, the day white man came, killed and raped your ancestors and stole their food? Wait, does that mean every native decendant was conceived by rape? lmao
Thanksgiving is really in celebration of the Native Americans who saved the lives of the starving pilgrims at Plymouth Rock who were very thankful to them.
Squanto, a Wampanoag man, found them, and they were in a pitiful state...took pity on them. Their English crops had failed, and the Native people fed them through the winter and taught them how to grow their food. We sing O' Beautiful For Spacious Skies, but instead of Land of the Pilgrims Pride, we sing Land of the Native's Pride.
Amen. Thanksgiving is a beautiful celebration, many of the most angry people about thanksgiving are whites who have lost their own sense of culture, and fight in bitter hearts for others and what they do not understand. To raise anger of a celebration of thanks and fight and in rage speak mean things is not a good way, but reveals weakness, fear, and destruction.
@katydidscorner You do know Squanto only helped them to get their support against rival tribes? I bet you didn't.. He also use them to get him to be the chief of his tribe Which he couldn't be because there already was one and they dispised each other so the chief of his tribe sent him to go meet the pilgrims (He was a diplomat you can say at the time) He tryed to show how nice he was and how mean his chief was (which he wasn't) So saying squanto is nice is false.
I dont usually bother with stupid comments , but I love your reply to that real stupid driver 3 . I cant believe that some people are so disrespectful .
Someone needs some love and RESPECT! I hope you survive out in the cruel world, because someday someone will look down upon you, and treat you as what you are. (piece of crap)
The title of this song is by Robbie Robertson, a native of Canada from his CD Music for the Native Americans, and I believe he is referring to buffalo, not people. During the TNT mini-series, the Native Americans, this is the song that was playing while the white men were shooting and killing all the buffalo by order of the U.S. government. You should watch the mini-series before jumping to conclusions.
sir MrMartin169 am a muslim and i drive a mercedes it`s made by german should i hate all the german because of what did to jewish??? or hate allllll the jewish for what is going on in palestine sir muslims salut is "salam 3alaykum" peace on you so if some are terrorist it`s american the best armed country if some want power ha us..... you kill for power or just the black gold ..... sir type dubai look to the reachest people chaking the hand of an muslim arab leader billionaire sir read more ..
there may not be many of us left but we still have the war to win, this song gives me great strength, says in the bible that we will over come our conquers, when I say we I say us the chosen children.
the pictures and the music cause a softness and gentleness. makes one wonder; "what is a true human?" perhaps these people are closer to the human essence. also a sense of longing in the music; to go back to humanity or get rid of the chains that keeps us away from it. thank you for this lovely video:)
Exactly.. I hate the world we live in now, where we can think of anythng we want and someone has already invented it.. the world would be such a better place and there wouldnt be any damn wars over stupid oil if we all lived like the native indians, mankind needs to wake up and stop being so greedy.. "from your friends in New Zealand" the land of the long white cloud.... amen
these people are amazing.simply just...amazing.the way they treats the nature and mother earth with true respect.i wish i was born like a hundred year early from now...
Hi from Australia, My husband and I just love the Native American Culture. It's a pity all human kind does not live by their values regards family and mother earth. We can certainly learn from them. Thankyou for taking the time to create such a beautiful masterpiece. We appreciate and value it. From an Aussie couple.
Such a beautiful, simple, healthy way of life. We have much to learn from people like this.

Love this soundtrack - loved the series.
This music still moves me and watching the series brought tears to my eyes - the things that mankind has done in the name of God.
And though I believe that this has to be - just because man is curious by nature, makes me sad sometimes.....
Another good series is called: 500 Nations - Kevin Costner narrates..
Reading books like those written by 1 of my fave authors - Olive P. Dickason

Robbie Robertson is an outstanding artist. He is also a beautiful, humble person which comes through in his music.
Excellent presentation, thank you.

Recently found out I am part Cherokee as well as Scot. Proud of my native American heritage. I have always been drawn to it...not knowing it was in my blood. I am so happy to find this out. God bless the Cherokee Nation. Great Spirit is everywhere.

funny, my kids are part choctaw - my fatherinlaw just recently found a living ancestor in OK - his choctaw great grandmother - he never did get to meet her though :( so sad.

@Gandoff2000 what part of you is Cherokee though?
CherokeeOutlaw0301 1 year ago
@CherokeeOutlaw0301 I couldn't tell you. I have not done the family research for myself. The story has just been passed down. I suppose it is true. Seems like great, great, great, grand mother for one was full Cherokee. I suppose many Americans can say that though.
Gandoff2000 1 year ago
@Gandoff2000 I also am mostly white, but with Cherokee blood from a great-grandmother on my mother's side. Proud to have resently learned this! This song is indeed very beautifull, as are all of Robbie Robertson's song's.

Not true;
Any tribe will take someone who can prove themselves.
Besides; look at all the 100% Indians who run wicked Casinos.
True Indians used to accept people who were worthy of being part of their circle...blood or not.

U did it again . I love the way Allah has made me , but if I had a choice I would definitely want to be a Native American . And by that I mean I would have loved to live and be NA in the times before this beautiful civilisation was penetrated . I really love your people .

btw how are you guys celebrating Thanksgiving? You know, the day white man came, killed and raped your ancestors and stole their food? Wait, does that mean every native decendant was conceived by rape? lmao
RealSkyDiver3 2 years ago
Thanksgiving is really in celebration of the Native Americans who saved the lives of the starving pilgrims at Plymouth Rock who were very thankful to them.
Squanto, a Wampanoag man, found them, and they were in a pitiful state...took pity on them. Their English crops had failed, and the Native people fed them through the winter and taught them how to grow their food. We sing O' Beautiful For Spacious Skies, but instead of Land of the Pilgrims Pride, we sing Land of the Native's Pride.
katydidscorner 2 years ago
WindRider707 1 year ago
@katydidscorner You do know Squanto only helped them to get their support against rival tribes? I bet you didn't.. He also use them to get him to be the chief of his tribe Which he couldn't be because there already was one and they dispised each other so the chief of his tribe sent him to go meet the pilgrims (He was a diplomat you can say at the time) He tryed to show how nice he was and how mean his chief was (which he wasn't) So saying squanto is nice is false.

Someone needs some love and RESPECT! I hope you survive out in the cruel world, because someday someone will look down upon you, and treat you as what you are. (piece of crap)
ladiferente666 2 years ago 3
The title of this song is by Robbie Robertson, a native of Canada from his CD Music for the Native Americans, and I believe he is referring to buffalo, not people. During the TNT mini-series, the Native Americans, this is the song that was playing while the white men were shooting and killing all the buffalo by order of the U.S. government. You should watch the mini-series before jumping to conclusions.

the pictures and the music cause a softness and gentleness. makes one wonder; "what is a true human?" perhaps these people are closer to the human essence. also a sense of longing in the music; to go back to humanity or get rid of the chains that keeps us away from it. thank you for this lovely video:)

Exactly.. I hate the world we live in now, where we can think of anythng we want and someone has already invented it.. the world would be such a better place and there wouldnt be any damn wars over stupid oil if we all lived like the native indians, mankind needs to wake up and stop being so greedy.. Hi from Australia, My husband and I just love the Native American Culture. It's a pity all human kind does not live by their values regards family and mother earth. We can certainly learn from them. Thankyou for taking the time to create such a beautiful masterpiece. We appreciate and value it. From an Aussie couple.
