  • good job but should have gotten some ebony

  • Im a violinist and ive seen better than that but its ok it still looks good.

  • Sounds like bluegrass music. Job well done mate.

  • awesome! I'll try making one whenever I have some free time. did you study a book or something? There are good books on violin making

  • I play viola, that thing looks like crap and sounds like crap. Good effort but... No

  • @smartkatie123 sorry but I gotta disagree, It sounds like an old time fiddle, Can you build one better?

  • @smartkatie123 I agree with itscodyw. please, show use your amazing skill in making your own violin/viola.

  • @smartkatie123 That thing was made in crap time out of crap materials with crap equipment, you see if that guy had the real things to make a violin and he had the time and expirience it would sound better.

  • Sounds better than mine. fuck.

  • really productive, mate. super!

  • Superb job, I've been working wood for over 30 years so I've got some idea of the time and effort invested in that little instrument! I hope you keep it up, you have a lot of skill at a young age.

  • This is really cool -- I hope you keep studying and building, and playing as well!

  • impressive!

  • great job thats SO COOL!

  • impressive results using fishing line and tree sap, love it!!

  • UUUUUAAAAAUUUUUUU

  • WoW!!!!!

    Birch flat- top?

  • Woah! That sounds pretty nice (considering that you made it...in your garage...it's cool how you could get a similar effect of the acoustics...Bravo!

  • bacana as rabecas!!

  • I wish I could build string instruments when I get bored. :P Bravo!

  • Teach me pls :D?

  • @linklover2000 I don't think he's ever made an instrument, and I doubt if he even plays one. He just likes to go around complaining how other people aren't doing it the way he wants them to.

  • i have a violin that was made in french alps area of france. I traded my other violin that had b4 ( it was a student 1) and got a georgeous violin that costed abt 13,85.00 and the bow i got was 685.00 but it broke so I had to buy a new one that was made from brazilan wood from the amazon and that cost abt around 3.00 but the guy sold it 2 me for 120.00. Ive been playing for almost 13 yrs.

  • @hyttpi so what? and this guy built his very own violin in garage....

  • Did you slope the top and back at all? Just wondering.

  • I made something that has a range of a viola, with a body with the same length that of violin, open strings as long as of a cello, two of its strings is from a guitar and the other two are of ordinary nylon stings, bamboo for its tuning pegs, its fingerboard and neck is made of only one wood, and its bow is made of bamboo with ordinary sewing strings as bow hair (just dipped in varnish vehicle),

  • Folk instruments are important, and this is a prime example of a folk instrument. Fiddlers in the Civil War era would probably be playing around a campfire on an instrument similar in construction (and a performing a song similar in nature), and regardless of the caliber of construction, what's important is that music is being made.

  • Certified Intergalactic! A Stradivarius in the making!

  • that is awesome! can you tell me in detail how you made the rosin and the bow please?

  • Yaaaaa, I think that isnt even real or working because 1 it has 2 strings and 2.... kinda just hard to believe and the bow has a cork to tighten it???

  • I wish I could play as will as you! xD

I just started and so as you can guess I am not a second Mozart xD

Anyway great job! You built your own violin, I wish I could do that! So great job on playing and building!

  • thats a good start!

  • I am actually In orchestra in school and im getting good at it!

  • This is really cool

  • I'm a novice with tools. Where did you get your materials, and how much did it cost to make?

  • this lady is fat in the midsection not strad shaped enough see mine. the one i show is actually too thin in thickness instead of yours.

  • Not bad at all. Well done.

  • i was looking at your boat then i saw a comment aboult your violin, mine looks mutch better, but you have an aeroplane so you win.

  • I thought the Brescians were responsible for serving the peasents

  • OMG wow.

  • very nice.

  • I recently finished my one string fiddle, so I'm fairly jealous of what a great job you did, especially for something you whipped together out of boredom.

I thought the sound was great. Certainly a lot better than anything I'm getting out of mine.

  • you will be a great violin builder.

  • Ow, that sounds awful. Not your playing, but the sound quality is extremely bad.

Not that I'd be able to make something better in my garage.

  • Heeyyy pretty impresive.

Looks like a toy though but it's really really good for a homemade violin.

  • it's not bad i guess

    looks hard

well, i hope you can make a better one

    that one sucks,

  • it looks so nice....never seen a white violin.....and nice job making this instument you do seem to look like a smart guy from what i have seen. but no fine tuners? you dont need them right....you could tune greatly with the pegs only.

  • wow. good job! i play the violin and would love to make one but i think i would start and never finish it! well done! i like the wood you used for the finger board! you used fishing line! wow. i would never have thought that that worked! let alone using it for the bow! :) WELL DONE!

  • Hey is that a christian song?

  • After listening to you play it, (the timbre and all), it's no Stradivarius, but it's definitely better than what most folks could slap together! Great job! :D

  • What did you use for the string? It's really cool. I'm trying to make one myself, but it's for a physics project (it is going to be pathetic looking:(, but yeah. What did you use for strings? Steel? Nylon?

  • You can actually get a pack of strings at a music shop, which are actually made as replacements for snapped ones.

I find the Dominant strings the best for my (real) violin.

  • @suebin04 Lol... yeah, not good quality sound and nothing special to look at, though if he didn't know how to make one and just threw it together than I say its O.K.... (half thumb down)

  • two strings?

  • why is she so fat in the waist.

  • well done

  • awesome can you please tell me how you make the sides of the violin

  • bridge is cool =D

  • very impresive that you made that violin : D try to make another one with custom unique shape : D

  • wow, that's amazing!

  • cool

  • im gonna start playing violin ( its a blue one)

  • @PepermentCandy Nice I am gonna get a black one

  • don't listen to those retards. your playing could improve, but they don't realize how difficult playing a fretless bowed instrument is.

so, GREAT BUILD!!!! what can you tell me about the bow??? i've been building instruments for a while, and have always wanted to try bowed instruments, but i don't know how to make a bow for them...

what did you use for the horsehair? and i guess you used rosin? thanks so much for sharing!!!

  • thanks. the bow is as pictured, I am not sure what type of wood it is, as it has been several years now. It is about an inch wide, and a quarter inch thick in the middle.

As for the 'horsehair', I used fishing line that I rubbed with sandpaper to duplicate the effect of the horsehair barbs. And I used a homemade rosin from boiling down and refining tree sap that I collected from some pines in the back yard. In all, I'm amazed it sounds as good as it does. There are more details on the website.

  • @bg11390 Actually, while it sounds pretty bad, it's cool that you did all this by yourself. Self-sufficiency on this level is extremely rare.

  • not very hard

  • @unstrung13 that is very true, me and two of my friends are in orchestra (if u look on our channel) but, i really agree wth that

  • Can you have someone else play your violin? With video as well if they do not mind? Thanks

  • uuuuuuhhhh

i dont no wat 2 say

  • awesome! keep it up!

maybe you can try making a double bass!

  • i didnt see an end button thingyyyyyy >.>

  • u did , u did , u did see an end button thingyyy,

We did Not see the "chinplate" :-)

we also see an avantgarde bridge on a very classical model cremona. Dude bg11390 can still make a nice one with heartshape holes. that would make this nice violin beautifull

  • Neat

  • hahhaha! pretty good, it just sounds crappy :(

  • I think it is his playing not his craftsmenship

  • Good violin

    but god you are shit

  • why only 2 strings??

  • i tjink i hear 3 strings. a few scrapes on the G-string while playing the D string, :the lower notes at the end are played at the G string??. not sure if it was on 4 strings allready though.

The vid does not contain a Finished foto :-( , u do c 4 keys and all facilities.

  • @quazamodus yeah... not much more than 'scrapes' on the strings..

  • i would say that the sound is not like a violin but is really perfect and close to the chinese erhu

  • cool :)

  • wauhh, this was awesome , :P

how did you made it ?

  • Good heavens. The sound aint that bad. But why not buy a better looking Violin? Anyway I just messed up my Violin and have to buy a new one. Why? Oh. The spray on lacquer I was using just sucks..

  • Wow...a Baroque sounding violin!!

  • mal feito!

  • u might want to work on the bridge xD looks to like not curved but hey very nice job with only 2 strings!!!

    Your really good xD

  • not so bad!

  • super :)

  • NICE!

  • super amazing!!!!!

    make me one!!!!!!

show us how you did make this beautiful piece of art!!!!!

  • That is AMAZING!!

    who is playing it?

  • What?! Is the music actually PLAYED on that violin!!! Conguatz!!!

  • Well, that's better, then what we made...

  • Haha sweeet!

  • Theres only 2 strings! LOL.

    NICE :D YOUR AMAZINGG!!! XD

  • Oh yeah, the two strings were from an old violin. I just put those on to hold the bridge up. :)Can anyone tell me why this is rated so low with such great comments? Ugh...

  • @bg11390 Because people don't understand how incredible it is that you built and instrument, and that it actually works.

  • WOW!! i'm truly amazed! awesome job on this! must've taken a lot of work, huh? nice! :D
