@smartkatie123 That thing was made in crap time out of crap materials with crap equipment, you see if that guy had the real things to make a violin and he had the time and expirience it would sound better.
Superb job, I've been working wood for over 30 years so I've got some idea of the time and effort invested in that little instrument! I hope you keep it up, you have a lot of skill at a young age.
@linklover2000 I don't think he's ever made an instrument, and I doubt if he even plays one. He just likes to go around complaining how other people aren't doing it the way he wants them to.
i have a violin that was made in french alps area of france. I traded my other violin that had b4 ( it was a student 1) and got a georgeous violin that costed abt 13,85.00 and the bow i got was 685.00 but it broke so I had to buy a new one that was made from brazilan wood from the amazon and that cost abt around 3.00 but the guy sold it 2 me for 120.00. Ive been playing for almost 13 yrs.
I made something that has a range of a viola, with a body with the same length that of violin, open strings as long as of a cello, two of its strings is from a guitar and the other two are of ordinary nylon stings, bamboo for its tuning pegs, its fingerboard and neck is made of only one wood, and its bow is made of bamboo with ordinary sewing strings as bow hair (just dipped in varnish vehicle),
Folk instruments are important, and this is a prime example of a folk instrument. Fiddlers in the Civil War era would probably be playing around a campfire on an instrument similar in construction (and a performing a song similar in nature), and regardless of the caliber of construction, what's important is that music is being made.
Yaaaaa, I think that isnt even real or working because 1 it has 2 strings and 2.... kinda just hard to believe and the bow has a cork to tighten it???
I recently finished my one string fiddle, so I'm fairly jealous of what a great job you did, especially for something you whipped together out of boredom.
I thought the sound was great. Certainly a lot better than anything I'm getting out of mine.
it looks so nice....never seen a white violin.....and nice job making this instument you do seem to look like a smart guy from what i have seen. but no fine tuners? you dont need them right....you could tune greatly with the pegs only.
wow. good job! i play the violin and would love to make one but i think i would start and never finish it! well done! i like the wood you used for the finger board! you used fishing line! wow. i would never have thought that that worked! let alone using it for the bow! :) WELL DONE!
After listening to you play it, (the timbre and all), it's no Stradivarius, but it's definitely better than what most folks could slap together! Great job! :D
What did you use for the string? It's really cool. I'm trying to make one myself, but it's for a physics project (it is going to be pathetic looking:(, but yeah. What did you use for strings? Steel? Nylon?
@suebin04 Lol... yeah, not good quality sound and nothing special to look at, though if he didn't know how to make one and just threw it together than I say its O.K.... (half thumb down)
don't listen to those retards. your playing could improve, but they don't realize how difficult playing a fretless bowed instrument is.
so, GREAT BUILD!!!! what can you tell me about the bow??? i've been building instruments for a while, and have always wanted to try bowed instruments, but i don't know how to make a bow for them...
what did you use for the horsehair? and i guess you used rosin? thanks so much for sharing!!!
thanks. the bow is as pictured, I am not sure what type of wood it is, as it has been several years now. It is about an inch wide, and a quarter inch thick in the middle.
As for the 'horsehair', I used fishing line that I rubbed with sandpaper to duplicate the effect of the horsehair barbs. And I used a homemade rosin from boiling down and refining tree sap that I collected from some pines in the back yard. In all, I'm amazed it sounds as good as it does. There are more details on the website.
u did , u did , u did see an end button thingyyy,
We did Not see the "chinplate" :-)
we also see an avantgarde bridge on a very classical model cremona. Dude bg11390 can still make a nice one with heartshape holes. that would make this nice violin beautifull
i tjink i hear 3 strings. a few scrapes on the G-string while playing the D string, :the lower notes at the end are played at the G string??. not sure if it was on 4 strings allready though.
The vid does not contain a Finished foto :-( , u do c 4 keys and all facilities.
Good heavens. The sound aint that bad. But why not buy a better looking Violin? Anyway I just messed up my Violin and have to buy a new one. Why? Oh. The spray on lacquer I was using just sucks..
Oh yeah, the two strings were from an old violin. I just put those on to hold the bridge up. :)Can anyone tell me why this is rated so low with such great comments? Ugh...

You can actually get a pack of strings at a music shop, which are actually made as replacements for snapped ones.
