800m with a 5.56 75gr open tip Sierra match bullet on the classic M855 loading with a quality optic is not only possible and deadly, but regularly done. The rifle is an SR-25 and quite accurate at 800m. 800m is about the max effective range for that particular loading and for anyone saying it's not possible simply does not know what they are talking about.

false, completely false. a 5.56(.223 essentially) is more than capable of hitting man sized targets at a grand. i personally have shot my friends ar-15, which shoots 223 if you didnt know, at silhouettes at 800 yards and scored consistently high. a trained sniper can easily hit at a grand.
and as for 7.62, essentially a .308 round can go even further than that. any round loaded properly and shot properly can be a "sniper round"

I know this shooter. He's shooting Mk262 Mod 1 5.56 77gr SMK with a cannelure. He had a confirmed at 720 meters. Of course, he also had an instance where he hit a guy 4 times before he went down.
Take a look at the mags. Standard aluminum 30 rd GI issue. I talked to him the other day and he confirmed using Mk262 Mod 1 (5.56mm) while filming this. Yes, I know his name...initials Tango Hotel. He was USMC Force Recon before going private contractor.
It is obvious that he is using standard 5.56 based on looking at the magazine. It cannot be .308 because of the magazine he is using. .308 does not come in 30 round clips because the round happens to be to heavy causing the soldier to cary less ammo.
Also, that is definitly NOT 5.56 nato ammunition. At the very least he is shooting 6.8 SPC or 6.5 Grendel...but I would guess it's 7.62 NATO. They are shooting at distances of ~800 meters. If you know anything about the balistics of 5.56 amun. then you should know it is highly uncapable of dropping targets effectively at 800 meters.

false, completely false. a 5.56(.223 essentially) is more than capable of hitting man sized targets at a grand. i personally have shot my friends ar-15, which shoots 223 if you didnt know, at silhouettes at 800 yards and scored consistently high. a trained sniper can easily hit at a grand.
and as for 7.62, essentially a .308 round can go even further than that. any round loaded properly and shot properly can be a "sniper round"

there is no gun or ammunition that delivers lethal impact beyond 2500 yards, so no, there is no sniper that takes it to 3 miles. the barret M82 does a little less than 6,000 feet, so there you go.

I know this shooter. He's shooting Mk262 Mod 1 5.56 77gr SMK with a cannelure. He had a confirmed at 720 meters. Of course, he also had an instance where he hit a guy 4 times before he went down.

Take a look at the mags. Standard aluminum 30 rd GI issue. I talked to him the other day and he confirmed using Mk262 Mod 1 (5.56mm) while filming this. Yes, I know his name...initials Tango Hotel. He was USMC Force Recon before going private contractor.

It is obvious that he is using standard 5.56 based on looking at the magazine. It cannot be .308 because of the magazine he is using. .308 does not come in 30 round clips because the round happens to be to heavy causing the soldier to cary less ammo.

Also, that is definitly NOT 5.56 nato ammunition. At the very least he is shooting 6.8 SPC or 6.5 Grendel...but I would guess it's 7.62 NATO. They are shooting at distances of ~800 meters. If you know anything about the balistics of 5.56 amun. then you should know it is highly uncapable of dropping targets effectively at 800 meters.

No, it is absolutely not 5.56. Optimal target weight with 55gr .223 at 600yards is only 21lbs. And how do you know he is shooting at targets closer than 800yd's? When do they ever mention this? On the other hand, I DO recall them mentioning 800 yards. Unless you have any experience with firearms or ballistic properties, please refrain from commenting again.

first, there's no evidence suggesting he is using 55gr bullets. optimal target weight has little to do with lethality..22lr is designed for animals that weigh just a few pounds, but are you willing to be shot in the chest with one since you weigh more than the "optimal weight"? lastly, there is no reason that he would engage the furthest targets before the closest ones. just because there were enemies at 800 doesn't mean all of them were standing right at the 800 mark. you win youtube commando:)

Again, you are assuming he is shooting at closer targets, you are assuming that closer targets even exist. You have zero evidence to support this claim. At 800yds, or even 600 if you can't get off of that number, with a 5.56round, anything remotely resembling wind is going to be ugly. That round will be blown off by feet if there is a breeze down range. 5.56 is simply ineffective at these distances. Not only for its stopping power, but its trajectory and ballistics.

What are you smokin radford.That is an AR-15 sniper rifle not snipper, in 223 cal or 5.56.Most definately no 308 although it is a preferred round but not in this case. The 308 recoil is slightly more significant. The recoil seen here is so light that there is no mistake that it is 223 or 5.56, the standard caliber for this weapon. If I am wrong than I must be shooting some bogus rifle myself', and this guy can hide some recoil.

Some models of the AR-15 shoot half a dozen or more different calibers. All I was saying that this is not a 308. Look at the rounds in the clip sitting there to the left of the gun. If you have seen a .308 casing compared to a .223 casing, there is no question at a glance that the round in that clip are .223. As for recoil, being trained does not remove the effect of recoil. It's phyics. Shoot one then the other then write another comment.

Its probably an M16A3 or A4 HBAR in 5.56x45 NATO.Someone wrote that its an SR-25 but i don't think so cause the mags this guy uses here look like standard 5.56 mags and not 7.62x51 that the SR-25 goes with.
