Hell yeah the retros!! I love disco.. sadly these days they produce JUNK music and got no feelin' in it.. bo hooo! .. I love youtube becoz of youtube, i get to relive my old days, music, and the awesomeness of the Retro's!
I love this song , have to dance every time I listen , Great Music , Precious Wilson sings this song so Seductive with a bBeautiful voice , Great band .
The original, by Ann Peebles, was very good. Eruption (lead singer, Precious WIlson), probably because their arrangement contained a lot more energy, made the tune a major hit. After that, if you do a search for the song, you'll find good versions by Ann Peebles, Seal, Tina Turner, and, surprisingly, a teenager named Sara Niemietz. In all cases, these are arrangements of a good song; must everyone post-piss about which version they prefer?
Hi. Thanks for the upload. It reminded me how LAME this "disco" version was, compared to the original Ann Peebles recording. That repetitious "popcorn" keyboard riff gave me the s*!ts back then, as it does now! I have to say, Ann's version was far more "black" than this P.O.S. band's version, three or so years earlier. Eruption's version sounds soooo "white"!!
@RettroDood ARE YOU KIDDING?!?!?!?! THIS WAS THE ONLY VERSION!!! THIS WAS SO POPULAR IT WASN'T EVEN FUNNY. THE VERSINO BY ANN PEEBLES IS ORIGINAL BUT, YOU'VE GOT TO BE CRAZY TO CALL THIS LOUSY CRAP. ALSO, THIS DOESN'T SOUND "WHITE." YOU'RE OBVIOUSLY NON-WHITE AND RACIST!!! A LOT OF PEOPLE HAS SAID THAT ABOUT A LOT OF DISCO. DON'T TALK BAD ABOUT DISCO. TALK BAD ABOUT GANGSTA RAP AND HIP SCHLOP! LOOK AT THE YOUTH OF TODAY AND SEE HOW GHETTO THEY ARE BECAUSE OF IT.
@lefreak79 I AM white, but NOT racist. My appraisal was purely from a musical perspective, Ann Peebles was (is) Black, And her version oozed soul! This version sounds lame and "white" to my ears. (Probably due to white producers in the day)...
Don't get me wrong, a LOT of disco was funky beyond belief. Disco Inferno, Mothership connection (a bit earlier), War, etc.. But I stand by my convictions, This was a bad remake. Not a soulful/funky tinge to it. Not even the vocals!
You don't need "Soul" in every song in order for it to cut the mustard. A lot of Disco didn't necessarily have Soul but had great production and a slickness that sometimes would fly over the so called "soul" versions. This version was so well-produced and incredible in sound and depth. But, to each his own -- CHEERS!
It would have been so easy for them to remake this song as a 4x4 disco track (which was massive at the time), but they took the harder route. Great verision of this Ann Peebles song - Tina Turner did a mighty fine version of it as well.
In the 70 years, I had heard this song at Luna Park for the first time. Since I already bought them a single disk. The result was that my parents outraged, because I always heard music too loud .... Eroption!. Peter

Billboard's #95 song of '78. 13 folks don't know good music when they hear it, right, gang? Eruption hit #18 pop, #30 soul in the US. How'd it do in their native Jamaica? God bless!
The lead singer's name is Precious Wilson. I was never a great fan and anyone who admitted to liking Eruption or Boney M got laughed at in the late 1970s. I seem to recall this was a cover of an earlier song
The first time I heard this song on Top 40, it became one of my faves. Later I got to know the original and a cover by Tina. It turned out to sound good no matter who sang it. I'm glad to see Eruption perform this one. Thanks for posting.
