@snlman22 he actually was a drummer when he was younger. but he discovered he had a very dramatic and smooth voice so he ended up pursuing a position as a vocalist instead, which was the right choice because his voice is so iconic and identifiable, and his range use to be spectacular until he damaged his vocal chords. still a great singer though

I miss Derek... Derek was even going to take on a rhythm-guitar spot for Alice Cooper, then Dream Theater recruited him for the Awake tour. Jordan can play guitar too, but we're never going to see this again, because, as Mike says, Nightmare Cinema was a part of the Derek Age. John Petrucci's even said that Jordan represents pure musical talent, Kevin represents the entire scope of music, and Derek represents the rockstar lifestyle.
