Anyone serious about getting a crossbow, look into a TenPoint ,the company's CEO is a real cool guy, and the bows are super quality. After a shot about 10 arrows with my new one, I then shot 3 arrows in the same hole three times in a row at 20yds.. They come bore sited from the factory too, so you just assemble , and shoot, mine was so dead on, I didn't even mess with the scope.

Hi this might sound a little strange but If i attached a 12'' dummy projectile to the tip of a long cross bows arrow do you think it would have enough momentum to penetrate my asshole with out bouncing off? How many minimum pounds should my bow be rated at? 3 pound yellow dildo is what i'll be using with a 500 frames per second camera . Ha ha, dont worry, i was just confused about what you meant for a while, so just reiterated the same points, hopefully slightly more clearly. =)

Compound bows are probably good for archery, it makes sense to ease draw weait if you are doing it manually and holding it, but for crossbow.......its held in place so i say get the quieter, more reliable, more powerful, more accurate recurve crossbow.

in some cases, depending on the state. For hunting, you cant use a crossbow in alot of states unless your disabled and physically unable to use a bow or if your over 65. The idea being to allow those unable to usea bow to hunt during bow season.

Get a recurve crossbow instead man.Far more powerful, reliable and quiet. This type loses energy and makes a lot more noise because of the construction of the limb.

Seriously, dont waste your money on this, go for a recurve.

I believe a compound crossbow has been manufactured recently that boasts over 400 fps, though it doesnt say with what kind of bolts, and compound crossbows lose energy half way through firing due to the nature of thier construction, so who knows what kind of joules that is producing on impact.

yea iv read Bernard cornwells Grail quest . A longbow only had a range pf about 220 yards tho where a mongolian compound bow had a range of 960 ! yards.

(1.) not every normal guy could even fire a longbow, especially aiming takes months of training, whereas a crossbow was operable for any peasant.

I've been wondering the same thing about the Horton Recon 175.. I am also wondering it the 175 has a safety? In order to legally hunt in my state you have to have a safety installed. Any info or opinions would be greatly appreciated..

as far as i know all the hortons have the safty already on them. the only bad thing about them is they are loud. dont let the video fool you. really loud compared to a reg. bow. i have a horton summit hd 150. it will completly blow through deer at 50 yards. hit them in the neck and they go down instantly. the safty has to be off when you load, then it will automaticaly lock for you. they are nice bows, but they are loud. get the noise dampiners.
