I've considered that, but then I remember that I don't own the rights to many of the images I use in these videos. I get the feeling that would disqualify me.
Never know unless you try. Also your style of video does have a lot of potential. But that all depends on how much work you want to put into it. Personally along with moviebob's Game overthinker, and yahtzee I think you have a good platform to work from.
Especially since you are one of the few who collaborates with people from the games industry to create your topics.
@kirithem Couldn't you use an artistic development sort of thing? Then again, I don't really know much about law so I'm not to sure how murky the water would be. And YT is notorious for banning for stupid reasons.
@kirithem I read the qualifications section for the youtube partnership program, it's not very specific but I think you would qualify cause if you ever watched like for example Equals 3 (=3) he shows clips from viral videos on youtube and usually he does credit the owner. A lot of times though there's so many versions of the same video that he doesn't and although i don't know if he's part of the partnership program or not but none of the videos have been deleted so far so i think that it's ok.
Hi Daniel! I love your videos! And, I wanted to ask a question. If possible, can a writer join with a certain video game design company and make a honest living? If video game companies even contract certain writers. I love video games and I'm full of ideas. I just don't have the skills you have to enter a animation career with video games. I'm thinking of pursuing a career in video game design. Would really appreciate a response! Thanks! :D
I'm honestly not sure. I'm pretty sure a lot of studios have writers on staff (I'm almost certain Bioware does), but I don't know how one pursues that job.
Sorry I'm not much help. That's an area I just don't know much about yet.
@Bergmax1691 It really depends on Who Knows You. If someone high up is your friend and thinks your a good teammate chances are they can swing a budget to employ you. If not you have to do the leg work and get known. Everything you do will be seen by someone so ALWAYS do your best. I would suggest starting your search in indie games (if you can find one that pays more power to you), there are tons of indie teams looking for storytellers. Just hit up some of the popular developer boards.
There will definitely be more lecture videos, and even an occasional video announcement for really big news. But I don't want to clutter my video library with announcement vids for every little thing that comes along. Some things like podcast appearances and progress updates just don't need a whole video.
You could just sign up for classes in your local community college (if they are any, certain there would be.) Might be a good place to check, I was lucky that Palomar College offered a game design class
Finally my Extra Credits addiction can be satisfied with these videos!

Yeah, you don't disappear for months at a time. Instead you disappear for years at a time.

@INEEDZALL He's on PA-TV (penny arcade tv) now under "Extra Creditz." He's been doing weekly for over a year and a half.

you should apply for the Youtube Partnership Program so you can make money and not have the restrictions of a normal youtube user
