Yes its true that Stone tends to bend the truth for cinematic effect, but you have to keep in mind that Jim Morrison was a fucked up d-bag at times, thats why people loved him. Stone was just trying to portray Jim's stage persona and how it bled into his waking life. I think he did a good job of portraying his sensitive side as well.
