This show was very funny. I was very upset it only lasted a few episodes. Although probably for the best or Seinfeld would have never happened without Julia Dreyfus.
This may be going off topic... about this same time there was another short-lived show, "Knight and Daye," in which the theme song was Cole Porter's "Night and Day."
IIRC, it was about a couple of DJ's who worked in a radio station years before, who crossed paths again in their old age.
Would anyone have a clip of the intros, end credits, and maybe at least one episode? Thanks.
does anybody out there have the eposdie where Julia louis-dreyfus and c d barnes are dancing to "hello I love you" by the doors, I think it was at a school dance or something. Thanks.
lauradee11 - Who was Emily? Were you one of the twins that played the daughter? And yeah, I wonder what CB Barnes is up to also. I didn't see him much after the Brady Bunch movies...
i remember this show, c,b, barnes had a dream once on the show where he was the 7th kid on the brady bunch, and what o u know he became greg brady funny shit
elaine was hotter back then...funny how c.b barnes would go on to play on that dumb Brady Bunch movie after dreaming he was a Brady in some episode from season 2
OMG, yes, that's why I looked this up this show, I remember him dreaming he was Greg Brady then he played him in the movie years later. Somebody must post that episode, I remember it being hilariously funny.
@Jeff98177 Man... I recall this one epi vividly! The boy who dreamed he was "Chuck" ended up realizing his error of watching "Brady" reruns when he should've been doing his schoolwork.
"Chuck" Brady... I was wondering if a "Peppermint Patty" neighbor was going to come onto the scene...
Vividly remember two things about this show. #1...of course the Brady episode. #2...Julia Louis-Dreyfus was HILARIOUS on it. No surprise she got the gig of a lifetime very shortly afterward on Seinfeld.
I was a nursery kid in the show then switched roles with Thora Birch and became " Emily" the daughter, I have some of the tapes... I will try to upload the episodes... these were some of the best times as a kid... hanging with everyone from Family Ties, and Cheers... ~ :) ~
My name is Robert Chavez and I played "Sammy" on this show for both seasons, until the show was cancelled. I was one of the daycare kids... I was 5 or 6 years old at the time. if anyone has copies of this show, can you please contact me? My friends always ask if I have copies of them, but unfortunately I only have two episodes on VHS. I can't believe the intro is here on Youtube!
@dbdrummr7 Hi I am Laura... I have a few episodes... ( I played Emily and one of the kids) They are VHS but I may be able to get them converted to DVD.
I think this show aired just short of 21 years ago--1988, I think.
It was a pretty unmemorable show.
The only thing I remember upon watching it was thinking "hey, it's Julia Louis-Dreyfus from Saturday Night Live. She was the one the alien kept wanting to see upon his arrival on earth, just to grab her boobs!"
Yeah I vaguely remember that show. I mostly remember my Jr High Science teacher saying that she liked it as well. Still though I mostly remember a few of the eps. w/Ross or Chris Barnes, which should've been C D Barnes not CB in the credits. Anyway at the same time he'd voiced Prince Eric in the Little Mermaid, so that's why I remember. lol! Plus this is just before Julia was on Seinfeld and Courtney was on Melrose Place! And yes that was a young Thora Birch!
From what I read the reason why it was made by the people who created Family Ties because its a spin-off of Family Ties and I just learned that is there is a Day by Day Family Ties Crossover episode too with the Keatons looking for day care for Andrew.
This show had a lot of promotion before it even aired, given that it was produced by the creators of "Family Ties". I remember Julia Louis-Dreyfus stealing the scenes quite a bit. Doug Sheehan...WOOF!! :) The Brady Bunch-fantasy episode was very entertaining. Also there was one where Chris Barnes' character was dating this really snotty girl who got OWNED in the end by the mom!
This show was awesome from what I saw of it....and this must of been like the first season opener because there was a second opening sequence, also. I like the "calendar" opening better. They should release THIS on DVD!!!
it's weird that THORA birch was on this show when she was like...5? then, she did that topless scene in "American Beauty", making it virtually impossible for me to EVER see this show again! :)
That was an effing BRILLIANT episode. I don't care how mediocre anybody ever says this show is, they produced that amazing half-hour of parody, and I love that the whole damn cast gamely showed up and wildly mocked the whole thing. Julia was also FABULOUS on this show.
LOL! Yeah I think that was one of the last episodes of this show. I remember when I saw those silly Brady Bunch movies in the 90s, I knew that whoever had cast for it had obviously wanted Chris because of that episode! lol!
That's ironic that C.B. Barnes would both spoof the Brady Bunch here and be in the Brady Bunch movies 7-8 years later.
