  • That's ironic that C.B. Barnes would both spoof the Brady Bunch here and be in the Brady Bunch movies 7-8 years later.

  • Its Ben from Knots Landing and Billie from Lou Grant !

  • There were two things I liked about the show -- the theme song and Thora Birch, one of the daycare kids (she was adorable!).

  • This show was very funny. I was very upset it only lasted a few episodes. Although probably for the best or Seinfeld would have never happened without Julia Dreyfus.

  • MELROSE PLACE and ACCORDING TO JIM never would have happened with Courtney Thorne Smith. LOL

  • I don’t even remember this. Looks like it was designed by a computer that shit generic sit-coms, complete with Courtney Thorn-Smith.

  • I don't really remember this show too much. This must have been later on in the 80's. I mostly remember early 80's shows.

  • I used to like the teenage character on this show

  • Never heard of this but I c that Courtney and Julia. r in it.

  • This was a cute show, and yes, the Brady Bunch episode was the funniest.

Too bad it didn't have a longer run.

  • A show about day care?? What in the hell, no wonder it was cancelled-ick.

  • I liked the sugar pig.

  • This may be going off topic... about this same time there was another short-lived show, "Knight and Daye," in which the theme song was Cole Porter's "Night and Day."

IIRC, it was about a couple of DJ's who worked in a radio station years before, who crossed paths again in their old age.

Would anyone have a clip of the intros, end credits, and maybe at least one episode? Thanks.

  • hmmm don't remember this show..

    looks shitty

  • Personally, I think this opening looks remarkably similar to the first season of Gary David Goldberg's other series "Family Ties."

  • @jnadle1 Yeah, both were created by him.

  • @jnadle1 - Yeah, but Family Ties had the guy painting them. That was way better.

  • @jnadle1 you're actually right (I have the first season of FT on DVD)

  • does anybody out there have the eposdie where Julia louis-dreyfus and c d barnes are dancing to "hello I love you" by the doors, I think it was at a school dance or something. Thanks.

  • lauradee11 - Who was Emily? Were you one of the twins that played the daughter? And yeah, I wonder what CB Barnes is up to also. I didn't see him much after the Brady Bunch movies...

  • This show was pretty funny...

  • Thora Birch was one of the daycare kids.

  • Yeah totally. We taped right next to the studio that "Family Ties" was filmed in at Paramount Studios.

  • Yeah totally. We taped right next to the studio where "Family Ties" was recorded.

  • My mom loves the "Reunion" episode. Another bad dance moment for Julia Louis-Dreyfus

  • HA! He played the piano with his foot, that is so zany!

  • Man what happened to C.B. Barnes?

  • @CapnAkira He played Greg Brady in the Brady Bunch Movie and A Very Brady Sequel. After that... no idea.

  • i remember this show, c,b, barnes had a dream once on the show where he was the 7th kid on the brady bunch, and what o u know he became greg brady funny shit

  • I love Courtney Thorne-Smith

  • I love this song so much, it made me cry when I was a little kid! ;*-)

  • Always loved this theme song. The show was pretty good, too.

    God, what's happened to television?

  • I would kill to get my hands on a copy of the Brady Bunch episode. One of the funniest things I've ever seen.

  • elaine was hotter back then...funny how c.b barnes would go on to play on that dumb Brady Bunch movie after dreaming he was a Brady in some episode from season 2

  • OMG, yes, that's why I looked this up this show, I remember him dreaming he was Greg Brady then he played him in the movie years later. Somebody must post that episode, I remember it being hilariously funny.

  • @klabkebash He dreamed he was Chuck Brady - the lost Brady. I remember that really well - surely someone out there has it on tape and can post it!

  • @Jeff98177 Man... I recall this one epi vividly! The boy who dreamed he was "Chuck" ended up realizing his error of watching "Brady" reruns when he should've been doing his schoolwork.

"Chuck" Brady... I was wondering if a "Peppermint Patty" neighbor was going to come onto the scene...

  • Vividly remember two things about this show. #1...of course the Brady episode. #2...Julia Louis-Dreyfus was HILARIOUS on it. No surprise she got the gig of a lifetime very shortly afterward on Seinfeld.

  • I was a nursery kid in the show then switched roles with Thora Birch and became " Emily" the daughter, I have some of the tapes... I will try to upload the episodes... these were some of the best times as a kid... hanging with everyone from Family Ties, and Cheers... ~ :) ~

  • Heello everyone,

My name is Robert Chavez and I played "Sammy" on this show for both seasons, until the show was cancelled. I was one of the daycare kids... I was 5 or 6 years old at the time. if anyone has copies of this show, can you please contact me? My friends always ask if I have copies of them, but unfortunately I only have two episodes on VHS. I can't believe the intro is here on Youtube!

  • @dbdrummr7 are you for real?

  • @dbdrummr7 Hi I am Laura... I have a few episodes... ( I played Emily and one of the kids) They are VHS but I may be able to get them converted to DVD.

  • @lauradee11 So you knew C.B. (Christopher Daniel Barnes)? I had a mad crush on him when I was younger. Wish I knew what he was up to these days.

  • @dbdrummr7 Wow! That is incredible. That is awesome to know that you were on the show as a child. :)

  • ........C-r-e-e-p-y....

  • I remember Courtney Thorne-Smith being on this show when I was ypunger.

  • I remember Day by Day vividly.

  • i agree the brady bunch episode was the best! wish this show lasted longer,i really liked it

  • "There's nothing like that 27th cup of coffee in the morning!" LOL.

  • This show was pretty funny. The best episode was the Brady Bunch spoof. One of the best I've ever seen.

  • I think this show aired just short of 21 years ago--1988, I think.

It was a pretty unmemorable show.

The only thing I remember upon watching it was thinking "hey, it's Julia Louis-Dreyfus from Saturday Night Live. She was the one the alien kept wanting to see upon his arrival on earth, just to grab her boobs!"

  • I love this show it was on nbc and i was a kid i love the theam song!

  • Hey, I remember this show.

Day By Day was Created by Gary David Goldberg Creator of Family Ties, The Bronx Zoo, Sara, Brooklyn Bridge and Spin City.

and it was also Created by Andy Borowitz who would go on to Create The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Starring the Fresh Prince Himself Will Smith.

  • Game show legend panelist Jaye P. Morgan, sings the theme song.

  • Nope, that is Clydine Jackson.

  • Yeah I vaguely remember that show. I mostly remember my Jr High Science teacher saying that she liked it as well. Still though I mostly remember a few of the eps. w/Ross or Chris Barnes, which should've been C D Barnes not CB in the credits. Anyway at the same time he'd voiced Prince Eric in the Little Mermaid, so that's why I remember. lol! Plus this is just before Julia was on Seinfeld and Courtney was on Melrose Place! And yes that was a young Thora Birch!

  • late 80's and early 90's was the best. I was four when this aired and still remember (slightly)some before it went off air not too long after.

  • Great theme song. Where was I, when this air?

  • Very catchy theme. I remember this one...

  • From what I read the reason why it was made by the people who created Family Ties because its a spin-off of Family Ties and I just learned that is there is a Day by Day Family Ties Crossover episode too with the Keatons looking for day care for Andrew.

  • Was that Thora Birch I just saw in the opening credits? Wow.

  • @phonographgirl Yes. Back then she was known as "Thora" (no last name), and she played Molly.

  • This show had a lot of promotion before it even aired, given that it was produced by the creators of "Family Ties". I remember Julia Louis-Dreyfus stealing the scenes quite a bit. Doug Sheehan...WOOF!! :) The Brady Bunch-fantasy episode was very entertaining. Also there was one where Chris Barnes' character was dating this really snotty girl who got OWNED in the end by the mom!

  • Mr. Potato Head! :-)

  • I NEVER HEARD OF THIS SHOW!!!

  • Anybody else just watch this for Christopher Barnes?

  • Wow! could you imagine an intro that long in this instant gratification world we live in now..

  • This show was awesome from what I saw of it....and this must of been like the first season opener because there was a second opening sequence, also. I like the "calendar" opening better. They should release THIS on DVD!!!

  • I agree, I want it on DVD, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss was really funny on this show.

  • This really prepared her for the role of Elaine on "Seinfeld"!

  • Just like "Marblehead Manor" prepared Kramer for Seinfeld !!

  • it's weird that THORA birch was on this show when she was like...5? then, she did that topless scene in "American Beauty", making it virtually impossible for me to EVER see this show again! :)

  • Thora Birch is also Molly on this show.

  • Julia Louis Dreyfus and Courtney Thorne Smith.... WOW! What a great show!

  • do you have any of the episodes

  • Does anyone have the episode where the son dreans he's in the Brady Bunch?

  • That was a great one. Wasn't that what prompted the movies? It was the kid from this show that played Greg.

  • That was an effing BRILLIANT episode. I don't care how mediocre anybody ever says this show is, they produced that amazing half-hour of parody, and I love that the whole damn cast gamely showed up and wildly mocked the whole thing. Julia was also FABULOUS on this show.

  • I loved that ep. along with the Christmas episode.

  • The most popular episode of that series! Whoever thought Christopher Daniel Barnes would go from Chuck Brady to Greg Brady in the movies.

On The Brady Bunch Movie soundtrack, Barnes sings Greg's tune "Til I Met You".

  • LOL! Yeah I think that was one of the last episodes of this show. I remember when I saw those silly Brady Bunch movies in the 90s, I knew that whoever had cast for it had obviously wanted Chris because of that episode! lol!

  • I still remember Marcia whining, "I wanna join The Partridge Family!"

  • I remember this show, I used to watch it on Sunday nights following Family Ties.

  • i love julia louis-dreyfus
