  • beautiful

  • still a powerful woman regardless of her public image, Lauren shall climb her hill.

    Le hornet

  • Blah Blah, and God.The same old shit anyone could say My Mama said Blah, so fuckin what your Mama said. What has she learned and what has she broken free from? Worshiping the God of the same people who enslaved the Blacks. More empty words and ego. More hero worship for the masses of sheeple who have lost there way. And most of all, more marketing and consumerism. She´s lucky and nothing else.

Anyone seen The Matrix? We haven´t heard that bullshit a thousand times. Banal gibberish.

  • @sstan1337 What you really mean is you would prefer it if these 'sheeple' thought only like you. Get over yourself.

  • @emmacass Nah, I´d just like to hear something different. Not like me but, something new.

  • Had to put this on my page this was real deep I feel her I loved her metaphor its more imporantant to be righteous then to be right I love her

  • I listen too this every morning :)...Part two says "think Big and think in doses dont be afraid of experiences that teach you" <3 her

  • If you think she's mentally ill; I would reassess my own state of mind. Are you afraid to learn or that you might do something extraordinary?

It might make you stand out and that might gather a bit of attention from the others.

Maybe you should try it anyway?

  • Hmm, too much ganja man

  • true indeed what she is saying

  • wanted to hear the parts not edited.

  • She has grown and became a master teacher. Hotep to Lauryn Hill. Much Love.

  • She is sooooo beautiful. My god.

  • She is so awesome. On a side note look at her arms...Go Lauryn!!!

  • i love her with her dreads...one beautiful sista!......

  • This is very good food for thought - thanx for sharing!

  • This is still one of my favorite videos of Lauren! Just shared it AGAIN!

  • This is soooo deep! Mrs. Hill PREACED this sermon and it was/is ON POINT!!!

    Bless!!!

    - J

  • Powerful video.

  • She's so beautiful. From the inside ánd from the outside. Love this woman.

  • DIS WOMAN IS SO FINE,***OVERALL***

  • @DownChick22

I feel you. And I agree

  • @DownChick22

The real MENTALLY ILL are those people that DO NOT think for themselves, but simple subscribe to the GROUP THINK. Genius' and artistic people march to their own beat as we all SHOULD. I place myself in that category. Not being arrogant or anything but you feel me.

  • @RevolutionaryINK when u read the word of God you choose your words about yourself carefully....so don't say u have a mental illness....if the doctors told u that...remember we are healed by Christ Wounds...i'd never call my self mentally ill....Gods wisdom is not mans wisdom.....Trust his word....Lauryn is walking that path....the scripture say's they will say we're crazy when u stand for God....

    stay encouraged....love always

  • @MrMichaelderon Love your comment!! So true.

  • @RevolutionaryINK r u saying ur mentally ill....no your saying u dont conform???? or both??, can we say she's mentally ill or highlighting her mental health...Lauryn on the other hand clearly speaks from her upbring/musical achievements...she's analytical and persuasive individual, thats her plateform...no doubt her influences r extentional along with grasping knowledge from all sources complying her finished product.....just my thoughts!!!Thx

  • @dcampbe91

First off i am not even sure how MENTALLY ILL topic got attached to this video. I guess somewhere people were trying to say sister Lauryn was mentally ill. But i can clear that up. Some AMERICANS may have been saying that simply because she opposes the Unfair, racist, treatment America subjects Blacks and minorities to. If you oppose this societies way they try to tear you down by any means.

  • @dcampbe91

When a person goes against the grain in this corrupt society they will label you CRAZY. Even your own people will. Lol When SLAVE would try to escape, the one that were to afraid would call those running crazy. Going against the grain in this society will cause you to be ridiculed. Check out this term

DRAPETOMANIA = Drapetomania was a supposed mental illness that caused black slaves to flee captivity.

Lol, So they say We gotta be crazy to wanna be FREE in MIND, BODY and SOUL.

  • @dcampbe91

So Yeah I am a DRAPETOMANIAC, for SURE! :)

  • i enjoy this, lots of "food" to think on. in all honesty, i don't follow her music or life, so i don't know what all the nonsense is about some mental breakdown (?). this vid is not "proof" of a mental breakdown. if anything, it has been edited and cut in such a way that it does appear scattered, that is not on her but the editor/producer. could you please explain who she is speaking to ? where/when it took place? i would love to hear/see it in its entirety.

  • @daughterofeber

I posted this video to address a particular issue that arose on youtube where a sister had been exposed for doing a porn video after she had been on Youtube promoting a conscious righteous lifestyle. The backlash she got for appearing in that adult film was ridiculous so I posted this video along with the one you can find as a response to this. As far as Mrs. Hill-Marley and some alleged mental breakdown, that notion was started by some random youtuber commenting on this video.

  • Seriously what's the point of deciding if she's mentally sick or not ?

She's not you, you're not her. She said some pretty inspiring stuff that are really interesting, that's what should matter.

  • this led me to watch the full video of this presentation she did and if you watch it in context you'll see it is So so good. i loved it

  • where is proof that she ever had a mental break down?? i havent seen that..this is the very things she speaks on! u dont understand her, and what she stands for so then you or media wanna call her crazy etc..ugh ppl! simple minds..and honestly i think she too deep for this audience, many have no idea where she's coming from..but i do

  • @Lboogiefan08

Who is this comment directed towards?

  • @Lboogiefan08

    i do too..............

  • where is proof that she ever had a mental break down?? i havent seen that..this is the very things she speaks on! u dont understand her, and what she stands for so then you or media wanna call her crazy etc..ugh ppl! simple minds

  • I love LH!!!

  • At my website kingarhturstemple.yolasite.com Click the diaspora of the children of israel then right underneath the sphinx Double Click the history of the children of israel, it will take a minute to pop up, just give it a couple of seconds its pdf file

  • It is a lot of great artist out here, you can even see them on YouTube. The industry is an occult. They have their circle of entertainers. First it was Ny then West Coast Rap like NWA, that style died out, now it's ATL mostly cash money played every second on the Radio. And who owns the media , they would love to see Hip-Hop destroyed. And the big stars don't speak for the independent artist who support them.

  • Her words are profound. I wish that this was the entire video.

  • why is it that if it comes from lauren im soo inspired, but if it comes from my family, i despise it? lol

  • @RevolutionaryINK Thank You! I have so much respect for Lauryn as an Artist.

  • Thank you for posting this!

  • She speaks of my own tounge. My name too is Lauryn, and this is truly the educating of the miseducated Lauryn

  • I am in love with this talk.Where she speaks of is exactly where I seek to be.It is a difficult journey, especially when you have to know yourself and battle the "agent" within. We are our own enemies, and so are our families(or close friends, if you will). It is a constant battle becuz others dont understand you. Lauryn is right though. Its about searching to understand the other so you can be able to communicate with him or her. LOVE!!!!! It is the all of everything. I seek truth in all things.

  • Who taught her her wisdom?

  • Post the FULL video please...It would be MUCH appreciated...Love!

  • the music world misses hill to pieces.

  • Great video from 11 years ago! Shame it was edited. We all have so much to learn and she is indeed a great teacher.

  • @missmonicawright You can find the full vid....I saw the full vid on worldstarhiphop....they actual kept the full vid

  • damn, in a room full of vampires.

  • @XNakisisaX Racial slurs towards Whites are only a sign of weakness and jealousy. Blacks like you give other real West African descendants a terrible name.

  • @DominicanIdentity

No, their actions of accepting them and treating them as human gives them a bad name. When I speak on vampires, all it means is one group preying on another for survival. You want me to change my description to "parasites"? Because I'm the type that doesn't give a fuck about what I describe them as, as long as its the truth. Umm, wasn't it Dominica that the Africans kicked the whites off the island? If they were such good people, there wouldn't have been a need to do so.

  • @XNakisisaX No, it is not the truth, it is just plain jealousy. Showing jealousy just makes you look pathetic and weaker than Whites. Also, my family is from the Dominican Republic NOT Dominica. If you stop insulting them and actually start organizing and building your own Empires, then maybe you can talk. I do not hate Europeans, I take their actions by example. If they have become as successful as they are, then they must be doing something right. Jealousy is the only reason for your insults.

  • @DominicanIdentity

What could i possibly be jealous of? They were the last here. Their "empires" don't have the longevitiy that others have. WTF could i be jealous of? Their power? They killed, lied and exploited the kindness of melanated peoples who are already preparing for the next level of life. You gotta come better than that and look towards their behavior as a whole and see who is really jealous....oh and yes it is the truth. They can't survive without the energy of others.

  • Synchronicity. :)

  • @LadyFlameSniper WORD. i was quoting when it hurts so bad to a friend just now.

  • Key Words: Righteousness, Power in Prayer, Overstanding, Teaching. Thank you for sharing

  • Beautiful Goddess

  • @GodivaKitty Yep!!

  • this was deep and I got it

  • very good video. i dont really know the situation that brought this about nor do I care to know but there were some good words spoken in this vid

  • @RecordStr8 Sh's thirty six now or 35 now. She was 25 in this video so I take it was around 2000

  • @MrsDomino Thank you! She's a pure artist. I love her honesty and wisdom.

  • beautifully put

  • WHAT DOES THAT BIRD MEAN. PLUS SHE SPOKE ON THE MATRIX I DON'T KNOW DO SHE WANT BACK IN .OR FUCK THE ILLUMINATI ???????????

  • Why edit Lauryn's words to make your point. I suggest people look here on youtube and view this two part speech in the context she presented the information in response to the auditions questions. Search simply "Lauryn Hill Speech and Lauryn Hill PT. 2".

  • I love me some Lauryn H. She is so black and beautiful : )

  • Good on INK!

  • Thank you so much for this video. that video was very deep

  • Beautiful pearls from a beautiful sisstar!

  • Lauryn Hill-Marley= TRUE Goddess! i LOVE my sis!

  • from what youve said in the info similar things have happened to me, sometime when we focus on certain subject or thing then things of that subject or nature start to manifest in our reality, thats why its so important to think positive

  • lauryn has "mental health" issues...and that's usually difficult too see and deal with when someone's as intelligent and articulate as she is. love and blessings l-boog.

  • @gryphen If u wanna talk "mental health" issues" no need 2 disparage queen Lauryn, who is n healthy recovory.. .Just goggle "Blaqueindigo" & watch the response videos & peruse the threads. There r enough 'mental health issues'-i.e. projection, paranoia, obsession & mania,& thats just the beginning of the insanity- to keep ANY mental health care professional worth their salt focused and busy for the rest of the year..sheesh!

  • @yorubablk3 i'm not disparging her. if i said she had diabetes, would that be a diss? her behaviour suggests that she has "mental health" issues. this doesn't mean that she's not capable or brilliant, just that she's kinna crazy. if someone is taller than you, does that mean you are no longer tall? someone else being more crazy than lauryn doesn't mean she is short.

  • @gryphen No my point was why bring up her 'public breakdown' which was yet to occur when this was taped & thus has little or no relevance to her message here? Why not point 2 the entire 'blaqueindingo' bruhaha,(the reason why this was posted by INK) which reveals contemporary & disturbing levels of mental health issues, if u wanna make an observation or point on that issue? Its the mental issues that are reveled in the response to the 'indigo' situation, not Ms Hill-Marley,that r at issue,no?

  • @yorubablk3 i wasn't aware of how this fit into the overall conversation, or that what the posting was in response to. but around this time, i did hear and notice strange things, deep contradictions etc, in her life. either way, it i quite likely she was crazy before she started acting crazy. regardless of the specifics or the logistics of her madness, i do hope she is able to find people and situations are good for her.

  • @gryphen So,then u r relating this video with her later events of 'breakdown',just as i called it the 1st time.

  • @yorubablk3

this video kinda reminded me of her later mental breakdowns too....cuz it shows that she is a deep thinker...alot of deep thinkers are writers/scientists etc....it's their ability to think deeply which allows them to come up with interesting thoughts/concepts but at the same time makes them prone to mental illnesses as well....there has been studies done on this...

  • @koala8 If u read cushe83 response to gryphen on this thread all i can say is ditto.Peace

  • @yorubablk3

i disagree with cushe and yourself...what's wrong with having a mental illness? its not an offence...however, I never said she was mentally ill in this video, in fact, no one actually said she was mentally ill in this video

    per se.

i suggest you read on the link between creativity and mental illness...its not some shit I made up...the correlation is high enough for ppl to have done research on it....

  • @koala8

The Link between "CREATIVITY AND MENTAL ILLNESS" was a silly attempt to promote conformity. When a person is creative they tend to BREAK normal morays & go against the grain. In essence, they are anything but CONFORMISTS. Society would like for people to NOT be creative & simply follow the supposed NORMAL standards SOCIETY sets & accepts. The THREAT of being labeled MENTALLLY ILL (in theses cases) is to keep people in line.

  • @RevolutionaryINK

this is the difficulty of mental illness and why alot of ppl fail to get their friends/family help before its too late....there is a very thin line between what appears to be simply an eccentric personality and mental illness. mental illness is not a conspiracy theory its simply a class of illness...like diabetes...but because it effects the mind, ppl tend to be confused about it...

  • @koala8 pt.2

The Greatest have minds been LABELED MENTALLY ILL once the proposed IDEAS that go against the SOCIETIES accepted notions: For Example: Isaac Newton, Beethoven, Abraham Lincoln, etc. All labeled mentally ill because they proposed IDEAS that went against the grain. The label is often used to DISCREDIT people. That is why many scientists and scholars suppress a lot of the things they discover for fear of being BLACK BALLED in this way.

  • @RevolutionaryINK

mental illness is a serious condition. and real ppl suffer it..there are many creative ppl alive TODAY who have revealed their experience with mental illness...alot of creative ppl have committed suicide because of it, e.g. Sylvia Plath, Virginia Wolfe, Shumann...its not something we should be in denial of... go visit a psych ward and i GUARANTEE you that youre opinions will change - that mental illness is NOT some bs created to enforce conformity....its a serious illness

  • @koala8

Don't get me wrong. I never doubted the VALIDITY of MENTAL ILLNESS at all. Of COURSE there are mentally ill people. I just pointed out that the frivolous tossing around of that label has been used in many cases to erroneously condemn people that give out info that would otherwise be taken serious by the masses. They called scholars MENTALLY ILL because they said the world wasn't flat. That FLAT theory suited certain people to much to be debunked.

  • @RevolutionaryINK

those ppl youre referring to most likely were NOT called "mentally ill" due to their theories per se...if a person in the past were taken to an asylum they were most likely to be called mentally ill due to their erratic strange behaviours...e.g. strange mood swings, or weird speech patterns..not cause of their theories...

  • @RevolutionaryINK

cont....like John Nash, he was thought to be mentally ill due to his hallucinations....ppl thought he was strange cause of his odd behaviours, but they still respected his theories and thoughts..ppl didnt discredit his theories by saying he was crazy..

ur probably talking about the general case when someone calls another "crazy" cause they disagree with his/her opinions...that's not what im talking about..im talking about clinical mental illness

  • @koala8 Why did you bring it up here? Also how many other videos featuring insightful comments by noted speakers have you alleged 'mental illness' in the comment section,or do limit that type of thing to Ms Hill?

  • @yorubablk3

only brought it up here cause I agreed with the other poster who first mentioned it...u ppl dont understand what I'm saying...u just think Im calling her mentally ill cause of her comments...which to me indicates that you dont understand at all...ultimately at the end of the day, both members of the fugees have stated that she was mentally ill, and theyve known her personally since she was young...so...

  • @koala8 ..so(?)..well,i think this is not about the fugees,or 'mental illness' per se. I think this is about RevInk posting this upload tofurther co-sign & illustrate his pov on the blaqueindigo brouhaha & this is YOUR attempt at deflecting the power & relevance of his illustration.

  • @yorubablk3

    wtf?

  • @yorubablk3

"RevInk posting this upload to further co-sign & illustrate his pov on the blaqueindigo brouhaha"

THANK YOU! Some people just insist on being petty, judgmental and decisive.

  • @gryphen

You're trying to state your opinion in a negative connatation as fact and getting defensive when people tell you tyour opinion isn't fact. The FACT is you don't know her, you don't know the conditions she's been under to form the opinion she has so you have no right trivializing her points shes made as it being derrived from mental illness, period point blank, your a fan with an opinion, and yoru opinion means more to you then it actually does.

  • @cushe83 um...can you show me where i said mental illness is negative? or that it takes away from her ability to say worthwhile things? most open-minded people know the "mad" have contributed disproportionately to humans' intellectual and cultural heritage. in fact, cushe your response/opinion betrays your (self?) stigmatizing beliefs.

  • @cushe83 Thanks for your articulation to gryphen .I've had a similar exchange with a poster whose handle is 'koala8 '(koala8 - gryphen, same person?).I endorse your on point response.

  • @yorubablk3

    no gryphen is another person...

  • Comment removed

  • lauryn has "mental health" issues...and that's usually difficult too see and deal with when someone's as intelligent and articulate as she is. love and blessings l-boog.

  • @gryphen actually there's a thin line between intelligence and mental illness so in a sense it's not surprising. i pray she is well.

  • @roscoegino oh no question about it, hence the "danger" of either.

  • This was in 200 before the unfortunate public breakdown....I don't know..

I read a recent 2006 interview on her in Essence Magazine and she does not seem like this person anymore-more withdrawn and reclusive. She needs to come back with another album -until then I won't hold my breath...I'm waiting for D'Angelo's new album this year.

  • @neteraset9 Correction... This was in the year 2000.

  • This is beautiful. Thanks for posting it. It's time to create and co-create. One love

  • God Bless you Lauryn.

  • Great post.

  • @RevolutionaryINK thx,youre still up.peace

  • @keshawn888 yeeeees indeeeeeed! thanx for sharing!

  • I bet like 10 people in that audience understood half of what she was saying.

  • Unconditional love. Rigt on Lauryn....

"If a person stop stimulating us, we stop lovin them." I hope the ppl peep that.

  • @Sahbisun I said something to that effect to a sista about 2 weeks ago. Haven't heard from her since. Musta struck a nerve.
