@tornadovideostock Yes, it def. hit something! Nice video. I think we Floridians see this type of weather so much we never bring our cameras out. I love lightning, but respect it! I think it's really beautiful. Thanks for posting. From a Native Floridian...
im a new yorker but i've been to florida many times for vacation and i love the lightning storms they get during the summer. One reason why i love florida's storms is because the lightning often knocks out the power for about 10 to 15 seconds b4 coming back on.
@noreaga12326 Yes! lol. the night of this storm the power in our hotel went out for about 2 hours! Lost the damn air conditioning too. Finally came back on about midnight. Thanks for watching!
The lightning bolts in your Fort Lauderdale video were just an incredible sight to behold! I know of a way you can tell how far away a storm is. First, you see the lightning flash. Then count in elephant until you hear the thunder. If you get to ten elephant before hearing the thunder, the storm is ten miles away. Have you ever been in any power outages before you started chasing storms? If so, how many power outages were you in, Scott?
@kurtdog119 A few here and there, but they weren't all storm related. We had the big Blackout of August 2003 and that one we were without power for over 24 hours. Here and there the power will go out in a town while chasing storms, it's pretty common out there on the plains. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the lightning videos!
I was in a power outage that lasted until about 2 a.m., and that was actually the longest power outage I've been in since moving to my new home. I've also seen some wild weather that created a possible tornado which caused a weather related power outage. Happened during the day, but I know that if the power goes out at night, it makes your house completly dark. We recently had a bad flood that produced water levels higher than Hurricane Agnes did in 1972!
@theIDKer Glad you enjoyed! Thanks! I love Florida storms, can't get enough of them. I'm already looking forward to when I can get back there. Hopefully summer 2012
I used to live in FT. Lauderdale two blocks away from the ocean and i loved watching the storms roll in and roll out , it was amazing, and an amazing vid
@Chulanic Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed the video. I love Ft Lauderdale and really am looking forward to going back again to document more storms. Can't beat Florida lightning
@TheStillGamer Glad you enjoyed the video! This was a nice storm and a great way to end the day. Hopefully you get a few more storms before the season is over there!
@tornadovideostock Yes it is, got good sunset photos with driftwood on the beach. One day for yrs I been saying a want to go back to FL. I have seen some fam, they came out to San Diego yrs ago. My family is in Vero Beach, Gainesville and Bradenton. I always wanted to go to Bike Week in FL.
Great display :) I love watching lightning but I think those would have sent me hiding under the table. Don't get storms like that in the UK. Fabulous footage and a treat to watch
@Avalon041167 Thanks for watching! And yes, it's too bad you don't get storms too frequently over there in the UK. I was in London this past October for the first time and loved it.
@ExtendedSpace Yeah I noticed that as well upon playing back the video later that night! Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for fav'ing it, and for commenting!
@davidlee110 Thanks for watching! And yep, I noticed that as well! Was hard to see when it first happened but I noticed the transformers blowing when I played the video back!
beautiful man ... it makes me miss my summers in Hollywood Beach ... LA weather sucks ... what camera are you using and please continue! I love the wide shots of the entire storm cell...
@Jdub1515 Thanks for watching!! Yeah, lol.....my friend lives in LA and I've visited him many times in the past, you're right...the weather is pretty boring there. I shoot my video on a Sony Z1 HDV Camcorder. Love that camera! So glad you enjoyed the video and thanks again for watching and commenting. I'll be posting more over the coming months for sure!
@jcmegabyte Thanks for watching! This storm was fantastic as the rains for the most part stayed just west of us, but we were close enough to get the amazing lightning show!

@tornadovideostock ~~~>YASVVW, Scott, for my viewing your awesome video from down south~! @LuvsTstormTapes Yes, we may get some storms tomorrow as well, hopefully! Fingers crossed! And yes, the 5/29/95 storms were great! I remember there being a lot of cloud to ground strikes with that particular storm. Will have to purchase a deck one day so I can transfer all my old 8mm footage to digital.
@tornadovideostock ~~~~>Heya, Scott..my place had a nice Tstorm here this THU 8/5 morning around 930am..and I heard from TWC of a tornado warning for SE Conn too. @tornadovideostock ~~~>TYSVM for the nice compliments, Scott..on my 8/5/10-morning video..actually part 1 is already uploaded...
