This video is flawed in so many ways. From a mechanical point of view, why are you choosing a BOV as your first mod? The stock unit is more than capable of defeating compressor surge at near stock power levels. From a film point of view, there are too many obvious cuts, you refer to tools as 'parts', you don't zoom in much while dude is working on the car, you don't explain why the mod is worthwhile and practical, and you don't show the after effect. This looks like a speech class project.
doesn't really improve air circulation - a BOV releases air before it has a chance to be forced back into the turbo. In essence it really screws up the air circulation, but with a purpose. Keep in mind that by releasing all that excess air after the MAF sensor, your a/f ration will be off = headahce lol. the wrx is equipped stock with a recirculating valve which redirects the air back into the intake system and is apprantly good upwards to 350bhp.. why change it? for a stupid "psst" sound?
HAHAHA! Thanks for letting me know, guess I learned the wrong thing... LOL. MM. Yeah, I'm not planning to get an after market BOV, I like my shit to be quiet as it can be.. muahahaha! thanks for the helpful info dude.
Oh, and by the way wouldn't the hybrid BOV be helpful and wouldn't screw up the air circulation? Since the hybrid is made so that it redirects the air back into the intake just like the stock BPV.
I believe the hybrids will recirculate the air during normal driving conditions, and will vent during hard gear shifts... which really is when you want your a/f ratio to be perfect in order to achieve maximum performance and minimum wear to various engine components lol. as I said, I have heard of guys running 350+bhp at 20psi with the stock valve with no issues. If your car is stock, there's certainly no reason to install a BOV unless you really want that "pssh" and to screw up your motor lol.
@burbidge76 what the BOV realy dose it release pressure from the turbo , the psst sound comes from the air aks "boost" so realy its better to have the standard BOV because instead of filtering the air out, it just dumps it straight into the turbo crating more power , BUT the risk of damaging your turbo !!
lol wild upgrade it is not lol

Yep. That was pretty wild.

maaannnn, i wish we could hear it.:(

he still hooked it up to recirc though its pointless. you cant even put an intake on these w/o negative effects happening.

Good tutorial, however personally its a senseless mod unless your running over 20-25 PSI...+1 for running a hump of richness when that BOV opens...

Agree. If your not pushing monster boost and have a BOV... your a ricer. lol.
MindzEye03rd 1 year ago
@SubieMech No richness, it is recirculating.

You can buy recirculating bov's though. That'll work fine.
Everyone's got their own taste.. geez some of you are horrible.

how about a vid with how it sounds...

it gives a better sound ;p
Frizette123 2 years ago
What does that improve?? does it give it more hp? better acc?
plo7314 2 years ago
Just improves the air circulation it has nothing to do with hp or accel

This is absolutely correct and why everyone chooses to ignore it just for the sound blows me away. It is ridiculous!
