@rhyser101 Magix Movie Maker? If so, yes you can. Any video editing program with more than one video track can perform this effect.

@rhyser101 oh ok. well windows movie maker can't perform this effect. Magix Movie Maker is a pretty easy video editing program. you can find it at Target and Best Buy and a few other stores. It's fairly cheap also.

HEY! I noticed that almost all of your videos demonstrate basic effects to perform. However, we can also upgrade them if we have experience. For example, in this effect, moving objects in the background can break the illusion, but it can also enhance it. Like me, I happen to have experience in after effects, so I would just mask out a window or a clock or anything that move to sell the effect even more. This is what I love in video!

2. In Effects Controls tab (in Monitor window), click triangle next to the Opacity property.

3. Enter new opacity value.

They are using final cut. You don't need it though. You can use almost any editing program to do this (try sony vegas since it is not expensive).

There is one problem with this tutorial and it is that when the person moves away from his body the body will become transparent too. In order to avoid this you have to create a mask around the ghost in after effects or with a garbage matte in your editing software.

no they wont cause the dead person is a freeze frame so nothing changes when moved i mean if he were to move it in the real one like the coffee cup then it would become ghost but he did not

@ pappa542: it is not windows media player, it is Apple Macintosh's Final Cut Express/Pro. Express costs considerably less than Pro. The only problem (if you are on PC) is that it only runs on Macintosh's, and NOT PCs.

No problem toastface5!!! You can run osx on a pc... How ? you need a separate drive for each os...one for windows and one for osx....You can see many video's tutorials on youtube....I guaranted it works very well.....

errr, vinzwell, the ONLY way you can get OS X on a PC is by getting a hackintosh. This is where some idiot has ripped off Apple Mac OS X and hacked it so it can run on a PC. It is ILLEGAL, and you DON'T GET ANY SUPPORT FOR IT. So, sorry, I am sticking with my LEGIT Apple Mac for now :)

For FCP, double click on the video clip, open the Filter tab and adjust the Opacity slider. Some programs are a little different, but it should be the same basic idea. Try searching "adjusting opacity" in your software's Help Section. Good luck!
