It certainly showed that some of the public really believes if it comes over the waves is always truth. How many of us don't question broadcasters just because they say it on tv? Question all of it. Well, they seem to get the weather pretty much right anymore but it wasn't like that at one time! There were jokes at one time how little the weather people got it right but now with all the science, they get it correct. But other than that, question what people say. TV or not.
thankyou for posting!...(read the h.g. wells novel it is excellent!) on the day before halloween every year I re-listen to the 1938 radio play then I watch the 1950s movie! it is part of my holiday halloween ritual in beautiful october! / @ milwaukee
it's amazing how easy it is for people to panic sometimes. I remember hearing a story where some comedian or something made a comment that there would be a huge shortage of toilet paper. I guess many people didn't recognize it as a joke and they stocked up on tons of it and sure enough they caused the shortage. Also just look at the whole Y2K panic. The next thing on our list is the Mayan's prediction of the end of the world in 2012 ;)
@JamesTBond007 This might be nonsence but I remember a story of a truck being stuck, in winter, in a little town. People couldn't get out and the truck, filled with rubber bands, sold out! If anyone has heard this story and know if it was a fact, I'd like to know. I don't even know where I first heard it. Anyone? Thanks. And thanks Max for putting this up. I listened to it once years ago but I'd forgotten how shocking it was. Impressive readers. Shows the power of a story and presintation.
@mewtwopoke You just did and I respect you for stepping up. :) I'm impressed with people on Youtube that speak up and say they accidently put a thumbs down when they didn't mean to. It says, "I wanted my approval/disproval to be marked differently." Sometimes it does make the stats different. I wish I could have changed my accidential vote as well. We want the person who took the time and made the effort to put something up to know we didn't mean to dis their post. So, good for you Mew.

There are good schools in this country but obviously there are many schools which don't teach the fundamental things of How to Think For Yourself" - I now present you the 19 Hijackers Defeated NORAD with Box-Cutters and Did 9/11 story.
Most people in their panic confused this with the Nazi's attacking. Hitler at that time was at the height of his powers, and folks thought it could have been German troops attacking.
