  • Oh and yeah this was a really good video please make more of them...

  • It took 2 world wars for France and Germany to finally accept each other and to understand that war isn't any kind of solution.

I wonder how long the rest of the world needs.

  • Really I dont think Blitzkreg understands that millions of poeple died and he should just shut the fuck up

  • @hatethegame82 Really I don't think the Americans have ever one a war apart from against yourselves (civil war LMFAO) So you shut the fuck up you 9/11 victim!

    Owned :)

  • im irish any one invades me ira(irish republican army) will fry ur ass

  • @dukeofwelington

IRA is fuckin badASSS ABI (american born irish)

  • I'm french.

This video touched me, hope this never happens again with germans brothers...

  • Blitzkrieg kid please just shut it everyone knows ur a keyboard warrior who got Pissed from playing call of duty too much and decided to troll on people here

  • @WARXDEVILXALAN Talking about yourself again? Get a hobby you fat cunt!

  • Most tragic chapter of humanity to date, in my opinion. Here's to hoping there will never be an event like this (or WW2) again .

  • In this war if the bullets didn't kill you diseases did.

  • Millions of young brave men fight and die so that a couple of old men can sign a treaty at the end. Thinking about justice in this world seems hugely idiotic.

  • Where can i find this song?

  • @Chosenone487X Search "The Fountain" from The Last Man

  • Ich für die Deutsch Vaterland, das gibt mir ein Leben kämpfen, um anzuschauen, fürchte ich, dass ich nicht genug tun, zu unterstützen und zu sterben mit Ehre für mein Land.

  • GOD DAMNIT cant we use our money for eco friendly reschearsch

  • I came here because I am trying to do my history project about ww1 and need some examples about the trenches

  • Look at what war has achieved! Africans and Muslims invading our countries! Its about time the Anglo Saxon world wakes up! Stop this scum!

  • WAR is the biggest HELL who can exist in earth...cause of territory, money interest, worth of all RELIGION...men who want POWER to control every single human been... like cowboy and his sheeps....no way....meaning less..... BUT ALWAYS WILL HAVE WAR...till the end of humanity....and that make me sick...because that is in the deep inside of human been....

Please let let the peoples live free.

  • This video features some incredible footage coupled with music that seems to force thought upon the viewer.

I can only wonder what is worse for those brave men, what would be more difficult. Willingly giving away your life for promises of glory and such, or putting your life on the line and pushing yourself to kill another person.

What is worse? Never seeing your family, your life, ever again? Or living knowing that you caused such things for another man, and his loved ones.

    War is truly h

  • I want to sight this video as a source for a research project about the differences between the weapons and tactics in the two world wars, but Diana hacker has failed me for youtube videos.

  • @Exposetheworld. A major reason to why Treaty of Versaille was so brutal is that, at the end of the war, the Allies couldn't justify its war effort with usual compensation. France joined the war for revenge against Germany in the Franco-Prussian war. Britain joined the war for its imperial pride and over-zealous military. All these reason matters little to nothing to both British and French economy or its people compared to the loss. Without the crazy politicians, there would be no war.

  • @Exposetheworld. No greed couldn't have been the motive for war (interesting though). Why? Germany was Britain's largest commerical trading partner and the British Empire suffered significant power loss over her colonies in exchange for them to fight for Britain. The amount of commerce and British Imperial power lost couldn't have been compensated by victory over Germany.

  • To think that all this...all this happend on a pale blue dot...in a vast destructive universe which cares nothing of us, we did this for what? Glory? Pride? Revenge? Greed even? It saddens me to think that these young lads...gave the only life they had...to a cause that only produced sadness and misery...the knock on effects of their sacrifices would only lead their grand children to fall prey to the same fate...the thoughts that must have been going through their minds...I find it unbearable...

  • i would like to point out Germany DID NOT start WW1 Russia and Serbia attacked first... the only reason people are so ignorant about it is because 1) germany was forced to sign the war guilt clause and 2) Germany DID ignite WW2 BECAUSE of the consequences of the treaty of Versailles... history is written by whoever wins... in this guy the Germans were viewed as "the bad guys". even though THEY were attacked and THEIR royalty was assassinated

  • @MrMeineNamen To me the German's at the end of the war were punished so wrongly, they were primarely the reason the war ended. Their soldiers/citizens deciding it was not worth continuing. Mean while the allies presisted with offensive operations right to the very last minute of the war, continueing the death/carnage like madmen, when soldiers on both sides just wanted it to stop.

  • @MrMeineNamen

Horseshit. I suggest you read the GERMAN historian Fritz Fischer, who claims the Germany INDEED was to blame for the start of WW1 and well as WW2.

Need I also remind you that Austria declared war on Serbia first when they failed to agree with the (incredibly harsh and humiliating ultimatum no country in the world would have agreed on at the time)

Have you forgotten about the Schlieffen plan?? Devised in 1905, 9 years BEFORE the war.Seems to me Germany was planning

  • @McLarenMercedes can you not fucking spam me with the same message 20 times...? and one historian to the rest of the worlds historians doesnt make a dent in what i just said

  • @MrMeineNamen

    German military historian Fritz Fischer.

    German military historian Fritz Fischer.

    German military historian Fritz Fischer.

Said: Germany was mostly respoinsble for WW1, thanks to the mindset of Prussian military ideals that were very much alive at the time, and pretty much made Imperial Germany "proto-nazis". Ludendorff and many veterans from WW1 were Hitler's first supporters in the 1920's.

As for WW2, the Depression was a far more important part than the treaty.

  • @MrMeineNamen

Germany was mostly responsible for escalating the conflict in WW1. Let's see here: Aside from the 1905 Schlieffen plan (altered by Von Moltke later) to attack France first and then Russia, and their idea to convince Austria-Hungary to drive a VERY harsh and stern line with Serbia, thereby provoking Russia (most likely intentionally so), them building a vast naval fleet (which they wouldn't use for trade pardon my sarcasm) and invading NEUTRAL Belgium (classy).

  • @MrMeineNamen

What royalty? The Austrian archduke was little liked in Austria-Hungary and most of the public didn't want him as some future leader. Also if you're so stupid to think the whole war was about some minor archduke nobody would have remembered in history had he lived you're insane.

Modern historians (none that you would ever have read) have said that it is clear the Austria knew damn well there was no way in hell Serbia would agree on their ultimatum. As it was >>>

  • @MrMeineNamen

    >>> Serbia did agree on ALL points in the Austrian ultimatum but one. So it seems Serbia did its outmost to AVOID a war, whereas Austria presented a harsh ultimatum with the intent to get a "legit" reason to declare war on Serbia. A view shared by most historians today.

Aside from the Schieffen plan, invading neutral Belgium, sinking the Lusitania, sending the Zimmermann telegram to Mexico,Germany was indeed "innocent". Hehe

Germany was the bad guy. What democracy?

  • @MrMeineNamen

In the years following the Franco-Prussian war of 1870 France PAYED war dept to Germany and did so while going through a turmoil in their own country. They paid the entire dept to Germany. When you lose you pay.

Germany lost WW1, and since France was totally ravaged by the war and Germany invaded France, could you blame the French from wanting war damage payed to them?

Now, the Americans and British managed to shrink the German war dept from the initial >>>

  • @MrMeineNamen

    >>> 269 billion Gold Marks to a mere 112 billio Gold Marks in 1929 in the Young Plan (read more about it).

Now the American banks agreed to pay most of it, thereby making Germany pay them back. This was fine. Unfortunately the Depression of the 1930's happened and that's when a small party like the Nazis suddenly got a LOT more votes. Don't believe me? Check the German elections before and after the 1929 Market Crash.

You got this for free. Class dismissed.

  • what piano piece is this ?

  • The invention of the machine gun helped create this debacle. The only way to clear a path was to bombard the enemy positions and then hope that this nailed the enemy machine guns otherwise infantry were simply mowed down. Tanks and planes came along, changing the entire dynamic. An assault could be focused on specific strategic points with the protection of armor allowing armies to punch holes through the enemy line. Static defenses became less important moving the troops out of the trenches.

  • If it wasn´t that serious I would even regard it as funny! For more than 4 years folks from all over the world slaughtered themselves in the most senseless way. French, English, Germans, Russians, Australians, Austrians, Japanese, Italians, etc.....today people from exactly the same countries come to this vid to comment how sad this all is.....even though WE ALL would have signed up for our countries then without hesitating a second. These brave lads were just fools brainwashed by propaganda!

  • @machierl alot of people didnt even sign up, when the war got to a certain point they made people go to war

  • RIP boys.

  • Depressing:(

  • wir kämpfen nicht für´s vaterland und die deutsche Ehre,

wir kämpfen für den Unverstand und für die Millionäre.

    german soldiers phrase.

    in english:

we don´t fight for fahterland or for the german pride,

we fightr for the senselessness and for the millionaires (hope sennslessness is a word, lol)

  • @xyvvz Ah, Gott sei Dank! Wenigstens Einer denkt mit!!!

    Ganz Deiner Meinung!

  • @xyvvz

Ich bin nicht deutch...ich bin von frankreich. Respect my germans friends, and may all Germans soldiers can Rest in Peace...

War Is Created by political ambitions....not by peoples them self...

NEVER MORE.... god bless our friendship

  • @JustFrench80 Here here, from an Englishman, and friend.

  • @JustFrench80 well said

  • @FUCKZIONISM666 Yes our Jewish Zionist controllers, the Rothschild's and their traitors would love to see this back. Wait, have they not got it? Palestine, Iraq,Egypt,Libya,Syria and Iran next? My Grandfather was gassed and shot up in the 'first' and had his Pension stopped for not getting off the pavement for the local Squire. His message to me..'Tell the bastards to fight their own wars'!

  • 1:48 -1:52 austrians :P

  • its really cool how it shows the real footage of the battlescenes

  • These types of videos make me wonder.... HOW DO THOSE PHOTOGRAPHERS SURVIVE?!!!! OAO??? DON'T THEY GET KILLED?

  • They were all heroes... may they all rest in peace... unfortunally the same shit happens 25 years later again....

  • @wulfman1887

... and then again, and again - in some another place of beautyfull world - again, and even now - AGAIN.

But are there heroes? Probably. Victims - sure.

Peace for them. Goodwill for us.

  • @wulfman1887 21 yrs later ...

  • 2.59 ,see that man taking a final breather nowing he is going to his death ,my respect.

  • RULE BRITNNIA!

  • 2:33 Those masks had asbestos in them.

  • People think about this, every man you see in this footage is today dead. :/

The last one is dead, died recently some month ago I think. All you see is thoose who walked before us, and we'll never see them in real life again.

Rest in peace brave soldiers of WW1...

  • @Dennizjoon when you see the crowds that signed up for the army, think about how many of them never came back. Then go and watch the video of them signing up again, and imagine only the ones who survived signign up. No crowds, very few people.

Rest in peace all those brave men who died for US.

We take it for granted and may god bless all those who died and make sure we never have a war like this again.

May this be a lesson to everyone.

    Peace and love

  • War is a hell of a way to settle an argument.

  • watching this gave me shivers down my spine

  • What a damned waste.......and for what?.........

  • very nice video!

please watch my channel for more ww1, ww2 and other videos e.g.

  • @BlitzkriegOwnage mate, I could already tell form your username but you are some kind of messed up little kid to truly believe the things you are typing. Fighting for monarch and realm...never been a bigger lie in the tale of humanity

  • @PhantomTrigger Ohhh fuck off you cunt and don't get involved you fucking asshole! And what can you tell by my username? You think I am German? Naaaaa you think I am Neo-Nazi naaaaa! so fuck off! Prick and don't call me mate either!

  • @BlitzkriegOwnage your aggressive language and unwillingness to let someone call you mate suggests to me that you are a rather sad, misguided young individual. It's a shame that you would act so childishly on a video about men who gave their lives for their people. Just plain sad.

  • @PhantomTrigger You still didn't answer my question! And I just see my ass when people stick there big fat blue noses in on something that has sweet F ey to do with them!

  • @BlitzkriegOwnage I can tell from your username that your someone who doesn't really understand the horrible nature of war. I don't want to argue, just show some respect please.

  • @PhantomTrigger Why because my Username is "lightning war" how does that give any intention that i don't understand the horrors of war? All i EVER watch is history on War that is ALL I EVER watch so i have some insight!

And yes I would LOVE to join Army and serve my time! I am under dog I have nothing to lose and everythig to gain!

  • @BlitzkriegOwnage good for you, son.

  • @PhantomTrigger Exactly so don't make stupid insisting comments then!

When you probably know fuck all yourself!

  • @BlitzkriegOwnage if you still want to join the military after being familiar to the horrors of war, then you are a fool. And some war history wont show you the real thing. The worst of it isnt documented in images.

  • @maddogmik Yes I would love to join and be martyred for my country who the fuck wouldn't?

  • Comment removed

  • @PhantomTrigger Owned :)

  • @PhantomTrigger And yes don't call me mate when you come at me negative comments!

  • Tell you something, watching this gives me the chills! It's just remarkable to think that nearly 100 years ago, these normal, everyday - working men was sent to France in which at the time, they thought would be an big adventure... only to discover that this wasn't what they expected, Can't believe these men lived in constant fear of been blown to pieces by artilerry and living with parasites, brings a tear to my eye when i watch this

  • 3:45 unsuspecting troops getting a facefull of gas shell

  • this is just so unnatural of any human being to use machines to kill mass amounts of people .

  • @DoubleDank123

    Dear Mr. Double,

Always has been, always will be. It will never change. Devils versus Angels. We'll see who wins in the end.

  • wow... idk how they did it

  • man must been hard filming thoose vids :o

  • A Redshield war. Shame.

  • this is beautiful. WW1 never fails to stir my soul and this video, with this music, brings a tear to my eye. is it okay if we use this as a backing for a drama play centreing around war??

  • Oh and at 2:17 that is not wind hitting the dirt making it stir those are machine gun bullets.

  • After hearing the US complain over 3000 dead in Iraq and Afghanistan it is still bad it makes me sick to think that on July first 1916 60000 British soldier died IN A SINGLE HOUR. Why did they do it ? "There's was not to wonder why there's was but to do and die" as Lundendorf later put it the british soldiers were lions led by donkeys the bravest and most ferocious soldiers led by ignorant arrogant generals caught in the grandeur of Victorian warfare. No discredit to German and French soldiers.

  • @APH92695 Mate your facts are a little off. It was about 20,000 dead and about 40,00 missing or wounded in the first day. This much vaunted 60,000 dead in one hour is a misunderstanding born of bad teaching in school and gores simplification of the facts. But your point still stands and is highlighted by the fact that the second and third waves understood what had happened to the first wave and still move up and into the attack.

  • There’s a soul in the Eternal,

    Standing stiff before the King.

    There’s a little English maiden

    Sorrowing.

There’s a proud and tearless woman,

    Seeing pictures in the fire.

    There’s a broken battered body

    On the wire.

So sad that hese brave men died as they did, in a land resembling hell.

  • There will never be another war like that what a wast of so many brave young men

  • Had they not smoke grenades!?. It would have saved many lives if deployed in front of the machine gun nests.

  • @kevlotec1 It probably would have made life just as confusing for the attacking as the defending , plus watch how close together the men charge if you fire a machine gun burst into their someones bound to be hit

  • It took WW1 for generals to figure out it's not a good idea to charge machine guns head on with no cover. What a shame.

  • 2:15 trench warfare

  • At 1:22, you will see men leaving the trenches never to come back. They were most likely shot like animals by machine guns. Man its hard to think how you can just get up and leave the only safe place you know into a barrage of artillery and machine gun fire. Such bravery.

  • @airforcerotc305

I do not think that modern combat troops would do this. I would be considered suicide.

This is still 19th century tactics here - a mass of men charging at the enemy.

Now we have cover and concealment, camouflage, and modern infantry tactics..

  • @ThoughtTraveler Well, what about IEDs. That is sometimes russian roullete for the men overseas.

  • @ThoughtTraveler Actually, wars like this still go on in the modern world. See: The Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988), and the Eritrean-Ethiopian War (1998-2000). Both involved widespread use of trenches, artillery and human-wave attacks. The big difference between today's wars and WWI is that today you don't often see giant, evenly-matched, conventional armies pitted against each other (at least for now).

  • @ThoughtTraveler and they didnt go on deployments, they simply just left for war and didnt come back until the job was done.

  • @ThoughtTraveler Yeah, now they fight in squads and platoons but back then fighting like that in masses of troops was actually not new in ww1, it happened allot in the Civil War as most battles in the Civil War were with trenches and masses of infantry attacking and getting slaughtered like at battle like Sposylvania where Federals attacked Confederate trenches in the mud and rain taking heavy casualties, that fighting was common in most battles

  • @ThoughtTraveler 3:06 This man knows he is going to his death, and yet he goes. He goes knowing he will be dead in seconds, shattered and torn by a bullet or a shell. He goes knowing he will never see his homeland, his family again. He goes for pride, for glory, for belief in god. Can any of you imagine leaving safety and willingly going to your death? All those years, those months, hours, minutes, seconds spent living..about to abruptly come to an end. Can you imagine

  • @ThoughtTraveler

In the defense of the commanders back then. There really was no other way to gain territory. In 1916 in the Battle of Somme there was weeks of artillery shelling on German positions. They hoped that there would be very little German survivors in the trenches. Unfortunately the German trenches were dug deep and the defenses were largelly intact when the British troops crosses the no-man's land. What should have been a glorious victory became the worst fiasco.

  • @airforcerotc305 Their commanders would of had them executed for cowardice, certain death or a small chance to live?

  • @airforcerotc305 Actually, there were cases of soldiers refusing to leave the trenches only to be shot by their commanding officer on the spot.

  • @airforcerotc305 very true

  • @airforcerotc305 or they took the trench

  • They fought for the creation of the United Nations which has 194 Countries support! The realist ideology will be remembered as the shitty version of liberalism! Cooperation, Communication, Compromise all lead to peace

  • And we moan about such stupid unimportant things . This puts everything into perspective . Such bravery , RIP guys .

  • some balls...

  • whats the background music?

  • @patterson9398 Artist: The London Ensemble The Fountain: The Last Man

  • My, God! It makes you thankful Good post man. We cry about the littlest things.

  • So this is what my great grandfather, a German soldier, survived. RIP to all who died in this conflict.

  • May all the dead rest in peace... This great disaster destined the 20th century... Shortly at the beginning of 1900's the people believed they are living in the belle époque and that they are comming into a better age, where everybody can hope for happiness. Some believed, there's nothing more to be invented... but then Europe woke up into a bad nightmare. Grandpa of my friend survived battle of Piave. 12.000 of his brothers in arms died. Never wanted to talk about it.

  • @poopguypenis2 you have the most random name of all time...

  • In my opinion WW1 was a lot more scarier than WW2...maybe except the Stalingrad part at WW2...

  • I used to watch my gamps stop and look off into the distance. Didn't matter if he was looking at the wall. He just looked into some blank ether. I never understood. Now several years later, with my soul decaying as well, I understand why. War changes you. Sometimes it stops you in mid thought, and renders you lethargic. It's like dying for a moment. You just..stop. everything stops. even time. You're lost.....Remeber that next time you ask a returning friend, "what's wrong"? War IS living hell.

  • My great grandpa went through this shit. He went through an entire year of hell.

  • this is what happens when politics and military tactics can't keep up with technology

  • whether it is ww1, ww2, or libya, we thank those who protected our freedom, thank you to those who died for us. thank you. your deed is immortal.

  • Some WW2 Desert War clips in there.

  • What a fucking waste millions of young men from many countries pitted against each other over politics seriously the fucking greedy crown princes and kings and shit should of fought each other personally not using thier people as canon fodder.

  • "In modern war...you will die like a dog for no good reason" - Ernest Hemingway

  • so many dead men for absolutely nothing....

a german frase from the trenches was: wir kampfen nicht fur faterland und fur die deutsche ere, wir sterben fur das unverstand und fur die millionairen

  • The projection speed is way too fast

  • nice video, but the sad music ruins it.

  • @kwatemok what would you rather? some exciting rock music? heavy metal maybe?

  • @warjunky444 idk, war is beautiful, not sad. maybe some death metal or dj tiesto

  • @kwatemok war is ugly, horrific and unpleasant. it should be avoided at all costs... just like tiesto actually...

  • the last 2 ww1 vetrans died this year... rest in peace to all the men in this awful war

  • What is the name of this piece of music?

  • If i should die, think only this of me

That there is some corner of a foreign field that is forever england

and the darkest of night shall stay light for you...............................

  • My father-in-law still has the original certificates and tag. I looked through them myself. But most chilling of all was a pocket bible, blood stained with a hole where a sniper's bullet hit him in the chest and killed him.

I always observe the 11th hour of the 11th month and the 2 minutes silence. Many lives were lost for so little. And this colourized footage really presses that home, I imagine people at home would only see the merry marching bits at the cinemas...

  • @TammoKorsai Forgot to note tha tit was his great uncle that was killed in action.

  • they were the bravest of the braves, what courage it must have taken to run into machinegun and rifle fire while your friends, your brothers died around you, they did not deserve the hel and suffering they indured, they are heroes and should be rememberd only as heroes, rest in peace heroes.

  • God damn it's so f**king sad :'-(.... I'm german. Sorry for everything!!!

  • @MrThunfischpizza1 Wait who said it was us Germans' fault for the war?

  • @Skrilladirty1 Because you wanted to become a "World Power" and invaded Belgium and France.

    Heard of the Schnieffen Plan?

  • @DramaticPrairieDog Which European country by 1914 DIDN'T want to become a World Power?O.o (Or wanted to remain a world power)

The Schlieffen plan was not a fully developed plan, but rather just an idea of how to proceed in case of a two-front war and how to subdue France in the quickest, possible way before turning on Russia.

  • @DramaticPrairieDog By "European country" I mean the ones involved in the aggressions, i.e. the UK, France, Germany, Austria, Russia and the Ottoman Empire.

  • @OnkelMickwald Ah I didn't read the comment that the one I replied to was linked to. Feel like a mean cockhead now, sorrry guys =|

  • @BiioMatriix WW2 was way more bloody and cruel to humanity than WW1 because of the big suffering from civil persons and massive destruction of cities. In WW1 it was almost only soldiers killed in trenches. But WW1 is still the biggest catastrophe in modern time because it started the WW2.

  • those soldiers have (had) more bals than any of those "Ganstas" rapper idiots who belive they are badass today

  • "The only person that really rejoices in a war is the undertaker."

  • @1VampEmochick

Pray. What verse is this from?

  • @ThoughtTraveler

It's a traditional form of words said at Australian military remembrances. It's from a traditional english poem I think.

  • @ThoughtTraveler

It' s from a Bolt Thrower- Song!

  • the sad thing is that there are no great war vetrans any more

  • Comment removed

  • and again the banksters finaced both sides of this war, so sad but it remains the same till today, WE MUST DO SOMETHING AGAINST IT,

watch: Endgame just for a little info, after think about it and read Books of Antony C. Sutton!
