Anyway, Citizens United simply said that the government can't stop people from exercising free speech in the form of corporate political speech. Everyone has free speech (or should), whether its an individual, a church, or a group of individuals comprising a corporation. That is the opposite of fascism, which says corporations should serve the state.

Capitalism as a guiding ideology is the problem (neoliberal or supply side capitalism in particular), not the idea of representative, democratic government. Get the corporate money out of politics and at least you will have an even playing field for over which differing ideologies can present their programs.

@grail68 Not quite. There is no equivalency there. Fascism is strictly a political ideology, while communism is far more broad in it's definition. It's a social, political, and economic ideology that isn't inherently authoritarian like fascism. In fact, it revolves around the idea of a completely stateless society, which is governed solely by the people (a direct or participatory democracy).

Unfortunately this has historically been the most dominant of the communist systems; there are only a few isolated examples of other forms (for example, in Chiapas) being applied to real life.

Pareconism seems to be more of the angle you're coming from, or possibly anarcho-syndicalism. Just trying to give you a heads up on that one; regardless of the facts, "communist" is essentially a synonym for "Stalinist" in a western political context.

Historical fact: none of the fascists in Europe believed what you are saying - corporations under fascism must serve the purposes of the government according to Hitler and Mussolini, and I think they would know. Anyway, Citizens United simply said that the government can't stop people from exercising free speech in the form of corporate political speech. Everyone has free speech (or should), whether its an individual, a church, or a group of individuals comprising a corporation. That is the opposite of fascism, which says corporations should serve the state.

@TheBullionBull The supreme court of the united states ruled long ago that corporations are legal "persons" under the law. They used the 14th amendment as the basis of their ruling. As for Mussolini, he saw fascism as a blending of state and corporate power. Same with the 3rd reich, all sorts of corporations were complicit in their crimes. Krupp, Bayer, etc.
