  • interesting....

  • The impressiveness of the Menorah miracle was that like the Burning Bush of Moses, it "burned without burning", a disproof to the Greek philosopher Aristotle who said "A thing cannot BE and NOT BE at the same time & place". Interestingly enough today's quantum physics has given this a mathematical basis!

  • The event Hanukkah is based upon is a Jewish civil war.

There were no ethnic Greeks involved. So it appears slanderous that orthodox Jews still celebrate victory over the Hellenes - they should be celebrating victory over the traitors within their midst.

  • @MrYes2hellenism

Yes, Hellenized Jews were very involved. However, the Greeks were the main perpetrators.

  • @becomingjewishorg The Hashmonean army had Helenists generals. Judah also had religious opposition

  • thank you for this. i didn't notice any buzz. you did very good.

  • @sweetangelahot

    Thank you.

  • I heard a story about the ptolomy kings of egypt before I knew about the story of hanukkah, now it makes more sense. Does that mean the late pharoes of egypt like Cleopatra were decendants of Hebrews? Or is there not a relationship there?

  • No actually Cleopatra" the Ptolemy" and Antiochus "the Syrian" were both Greco-Macedonian decendents of Alexander the Great's various generals which inherited and split up his short lived empire...not Hebrew, but not particularly Eqyptian or Syrian for that matter either.

  • @Earthman39

No, there is no relationship. There were non-Egyptian Pharaohs though.

  • @becomingjewishorg On the Contrary: HEBREWs were originally from Egypt and were mostly likely. Black Africans. Indisputably depicted in the Hieroglyphs in Egyptian pyramids and other buildings dating more that 5000 years old.

  • It *doesn't* matter. It was a question not an accusation.

My confusion came b/c my Jewish Orthodox friend told me you can't be Jewish by choice. I told her a friend of mine became Jewish, and she said that's impossible. She was even angry about it.

I decided not to argue, b/c she's going to believe what she wants, and I won't argue religion with anyone.

  • Why do you call it 'becomingJewish?'

My friend is Jewish, and she said you're Jewish if your mother is Jewish. She's Orthodox Jewish, and she prefers to be called Jewish, never a Jew.

She's over 60 and lost members of her family to hitler's madness. Some of her family members were murdered in the gas showers.

One escaped that fate by tricking them into thinking she was Gentile. She had blonde hair and used the fact to save herself.

  • thanks, I found it very informative; the sound in the background is quite annoying though, you may want to try and fix it ...

    shalom!

  • Thanks.

Yes, that sound was a space heater. I hadn't realized that it made such a loud noise. I made sure that I moved the heater before make any more recordings.

  • too much buzz in the audio for me.

  • I am sorry about that buzz. It is probably the heater fan in the background. I had not realized it was so loud.
