Sounds terrible to me.... plus this is so fake.. most of these concepts have been out there in one form or another.. I think I get better tone from my $60 Digitech Pedal and any of my guitars.. including cheap ones (but some are not bad at all).
Gibson is trying desperately to innovate.. but they seem more desperate then innovative.
man i had this idea in the 80s. but i here no different here cause this vid is in mono. some players sounds like 2 players at once like I do, it's not for the shredder i guess.
Not really a fan of digital. Analog is where the artist has to use his/her imagination to get a desired sound. not by clicking on some computer program. we lose the human element with these things. though I dont fully understand the pickup, it seems cool. just get rid of the computer crap. the reason page was page was because of how he tuned his guitar, chose to use a violin bow, tricked out his rig for a certain sound, not by clicking on preset effects in a computer. bah humbug!
And that thinking goes on everywhere, even in the art industry. People begin thinking that using projectors and cameras to help them draw and paint takes away the "creative and artistic genius" of the person using them. All these new technologies are just tools to help the art, whether music or canvas, sound and look exponentially better.
i disagree with losing creativity. its just a different utility. but in my opinion i love vintage sound over modern any day. vintage is much more raw and more realistic. modern is too refined and doesnt sound very natural at all. other than that people have there own preferences. its still a good guitar. but it doesnt beat the artistry and sound of an original les paul.
put two lp players next to each other with a 50s lp vs hd 6x pro. and you'll definitely notice the difference.
Id rather have a les paul standard. I just hate all these robotic things. I mean, Jimmy Page and Slash didn't need some robotic guitar, so why should any of us?
It's just because people get mad that they can't play guitar. So they try to mask there horrid playing by buying the most hi-tech guitar out there. I think Gibson has really gone downhill it bothers me. I wont buy anything that was made after 2004 from Gibson. It's really sad that people believe this is the future. The guitar was perfected in 1959 when Gibson issued there flawless version of the Les Paul. There has been no real changes to guitars since then. Just pointless ad ons.
This guitar wont mask any horrid playing, since it can play all the 6 strings in different ampliflyers, its probably easier to hear any kind of misses that the guitarrist does.
Its a new tech, it might not sound way different than older LPs ( a little better maybe ), but, who knows what kind of song will come with those new guitars ?
Swallow the fact that this is real, and that the changes that this may make is beyond our comprehension.
Because, if thats your point of view to every new tech, then why should they'd put pickups in acoustic guitars at all if there wasnt much difference in the beginning without distortion and acoustic guitars sounded good ?
I liked the skaught911's point but it's not like that- this guitar is meant for those who want to explore new horizons of sound and I think this guitar is really too complicated for beginners so no sucky playing. I really like this idea unlike the stupid robot guitar so I might buy one of these. don't think the price tag is adequate though. but who cares. the colour is beautiful as well, despite of what others say. btw, Jonny Greenwood plays one of these babies. I dont think he sucks
That still doesn't mean that someone has to be good to sound good. You can get like almost any product now a days that will make you sound good despite skill talent level.
yeah if only it has a finish that is black or red or other colors like for teens, but anyways this is the ultimate guitar of gibson and the greatest guitar in the world
You can divide the signal into as much 6 channels. So you can get a sick stereo effect. Send sounds from different strings back and forth. That's basically it, as far as I know.
Yeah, the thing is, this video is probably recorded through a webcam, so the audio is mono only. See the video at gibson's website, you can hear every string separatly.

Got myself a '68 Custom and after trying the HD.6X, I'd choose analog over digital any day.
And gawd, I'm in love with the jam at 2:05.

i feel more like this is a proffesional guitar (well, hd pro after all). This guitaris better for someone who is completely IN guitars.
the fender strat vg is a little more amateur, therefor is more user friendly.
i think both of them are alike, but this one offers a bit more possibilities (for a more expensive price T.T)

It would be bad ass to be able to play a rhythm or bass line on the top 3 strings and then have flanger or an added boost of distortion for solos

awesome concept. id say the vg still takes it but this is real interesting stuff. think i'd wait until it gets a bit cheaper too hahah
adam03221990 4 years ago
Pretty interesting. I still prefer the VG for ease of use.

The VG Strat is a pretty cool guitar, I'll admit. But this guitar does alot of really cool things as well. I hope its not as buggy as that VG...

fender vg > this guitar
the fendre is so much more user friendly and easy to use and so much cheaper
IlIlllllIIIIllII 4 years ago
fender just saw that gibson made one so they thought they needed one, and with the VG you cant do things to individual strings.
HD.6x-Pro > VG

true,,, BUT dont forget that it costs 3 times more

it could be great to have all these features, but at the end of the video classic mode sounds the best =)

i think the vg is better technology but you cant "beat" a les paul. only...the tuning pegs seem like they will take awile to get used to.
