  • I currently have an apprenticeship with a funeral home, and am also going to mortuary school to then obtain my licenses. I also want to own a cemetery one day. I myself find some things difficult with expression in the business. For me, it is always wearing a suit or somthing nice while on the job. People however pick up on what I wear outside on my own. Black, punk jackets, boots, studs. It is just me. Don't give up too much on your fashion. You just have to fine that fine line.

  • Continued

As far as jewelry you could do silver pieces with images of nature, pretty stones, cameos, and abstract designs. If youre Irish then Celtic knots might appeal to you as well. But as far as outside the workplace is concerned, keep doing what you're doing. You will be reminded constantly that life is fleeting so live it lol. But they are going to pressure you to dress conservative outside the workplace. This is because they want to give a certain image all of the time. Good luck!

  • You could wear period themed blouses that could feasibly have a Gothic aesthetic but still also in good taste at the same time (frilly and lace without being too over the top). You could wear doc martens but that depends on wear you work. I'm in mort school right now and I wear them when I go on cases because they're comfortable. If you're in the prep room most of the time, then chances are you can wear them. Dark jewelry pieces could work if they don't have extreme morbid imagery.

  • that's something you need to decided for yourself, if this is the profession you want to go in and are DEAD set on doing it (Pun totally intended) then chances are you are going to have to make all sorts of sacrifices, being able to dress the way you want to sadly is one of them. you are working with dead bodies so you need to do some soul searching girl(snaps fingers in a sassy maner!) if the con's out weigh the pro's looks like you should be looking for a new career to go into.

  • @dastank

I knew I'd get this comment! Its obvious I have to stop dressing obnoxiously, but I don't believe I have to stop dressing the way I do. I just have to tone it down a lot.

I don't know what else to do for a profession. There is nothing that I like or that I'm good at.

  • @RippedFingerNails make up sure seems like a passion of yours. try that idk make sfx make-up

  • @dastank But every other girl I know wants to get into cosmetology. I would love to do people's makeup, model, or design clothes for a living, but none of that seems realistic. The next thing I love is anatomy and dissecting. I may not be able to do makeup for models and such, but I still get to do makeup for dead people. Which maybe better, since I don't have to listen to them babble or complain.

  • .@RippedFingerNails why doesn't that seem realistic? don't put obstacals in front of you, so many people do that. You have no idea how much movie shit I have accomplish because I just said I am gonna do it, and so many other things I still am going to do just because I want to.

who gives a fuck what other girls are doing! do what you want to do, and if it takes alot of schooling or its exspensive deal with it everyone comes out of college in debt,

  • @RippedFingerNails there are grants and loans you can take out, in the end it will be worth it because your career is going to be something you are doing for the rest of your life. so I would sure as hell make sure it is something you are going to want to do down the road and not something you will regret going into because you can't dress the way you want to.

  • @dastank

It isn't realistic because it'll be difficult to find a job and make a living off of those things.

I have wanted to become a embalmer since freshman year in highschool. I've already started myself down that path. And I put this video up because I believe there is still a way dress the way I do (or something like it) without having to give up my dream job.
