  • Boring video, awesome cars. I owned a 944 S2 Coupe, '89 model year - highly recommended. Or a Turbo, of course. I'm just not into Cabrios.

  • The composer of this soundtrack should be hunted down and assassinated.

  • I agree with the woman thing ;)

I've got a '91 S2 cabriolet in black and I love it. It's been driving for 325,000km (202,000 miles) with the first motor, driveshaft and gearbox. I live in Germany and love to hit the Autobahn at 150 mph if it's clear... The car needs that. It loves to sneak up on big Mercedes that block the left lane ;D

    PS: I Love It!!!

  • The only thing that kills this car is that there is a WOMEN driving it.

  • you wouldn't happen to have the 968 video?

  • i have owned a 944s2 cabriolet, 1990 a boxster 2001 and now a 911 (996 C4S) cabriolet. i am a porsche enthusiast, they are all excellent cars and all porsches without exception. people who bang on about 911's all the time annoy me. sure the 911 is great, but so are the other models. its pure snobbery to try and say that other models are inferior and anyone who does clearly has never owned or driven one. :0)

  • @getin348

What most people don't understand is that the bulbous 911 frogmobile is an inferior Porsche- not only because it is ugly but also because it has terrible weight distribution and is an idiotic anachronism kept alive by status-worshipping morons who don't know anything about driving and spit upon truly great driver's cars like the Boxster S and 968 Club Sport. Interestingly, the 911 frogmobile isn't even light and agile anymore in 997 guise etc. I dream of 951....

  • @SunKing968 mmmm unfortunately I have to disagree..... as i said above I have owned a boxster, 944 and I currently have a 911 (996 c4s cabriolet) the 996 is by far the best build quality interior is trimmed to a higher standard than the boxster was, the handling on the 911 is superb, you dont lose the rear end as it has PSM. and the power & grip is awsome, having 100bhp more than my 2.7 boxster did plus it has the turbo suspension, wide arches, bumpers brakes and wheels as standard. :0)

  • i don't really like the look of the convertible :/

  • They should show them trying to put the top up :)

  • I would never leave the hood of a 944 Cabrio open if there were horses around. It's too much of a fantastic target for what comes out of the back end.

A lovely car for sure. Not sure about the cassette deck though, lol.

Hey, by the way -- the hood of that Turbo looks much higher than the normal 944's. Is it?

  • I would take a 944 Turbo over a 911 (any type) every day of the week.

  • While the 944 Turbo is one of my favorite cars to drive I could not ever deny the opportunity to own a 911 of the likes of the classic 2.7 Carrera RS or any of the 993 's really. Although I have not driven a 2.7 RS I can only imagine the feeling of what it is like to drive it ... I can dream can't I?

  • I have always heard the 944 put down as the porsche peopel bought when they couldnt afford a real porsche. I always wanted an 80s 911 and now I can afford one. Today I went to test drive a 1983 911SC. I dont know if this is normal but the shifter sure was sloppy and my Mercedes SLK would blow its doors off. I went away unimpressed. I am going to test drive a 944 now.

  • Haha what a 944 not a real Porsche?

  • Yeah you know how the "purists" can get. They are elitist so they make stuff up to support it.

  • My 944S is definitely a real porsche.. it literally has half the 928 S4 engine. It was the Cayman S of its day :)

  • FYI, my 944 Turbo S will walk on a 911 Carrera of the same vintage (any model), and it will walk on the 911 Turbo of the same vintage on the track as well (on the street it's the same, except it stops better, has better weight distribution, and so forth).

  • I think it all comes down to elitists. I have always liked both the 911 and the 944.

  • yea but that car is almost 30 years old. there is no comparison. drive a 90's or 2000's 911 and then write your comments.

  • I just dont like the bodies on the later 911s

  • check out the 95 thru 98 range. they're wide bodied and still air cooled and go to 60 around 5 and a half. they are also one of the most collectible and desired amongst the porsche crowd.

  • I dont know where you are from but around MIami, those are not wanted at all. The 80s series are by far the most desired

  • I work for momentum porsche bmw in Houston. Those pre-fried egg headlamp models are the most valuable, beautiful and desireable 911s avail.Look at the value of a good cond.95-98. most are higher than models that are 99-05 and, much more valuable than the 80's models.Price is an indicator of desireability as is perception.I think what ur seeing is a case of a)I cant afford a newer model,or b)I prefer vintage models. In the end, buy what u like, not what other ppl like

  • Sorry, a dealership worker is completely out of touch with the enthusiast crowd that wouldnt go near a dealership even for a spark plug. Look around. The 80s are the most sought after era. Shit, many purists dont consider any wasserboxer a real porsche

  • I completely dissagree. We are all enthusiasts. All of us love Porsches. We just like makin money too. However, you are rightfully entitled to your opinion. My mother had a 914-6, an uncle had a 911sc, Dad had a 944 turbo. And, to top it off, we're German/Austrian. It's in the blood. I'm not a sheep and I base my opnion on a life of experience and aquired knowledge, not what some people think. This was a good polite debat and I thak you for atleast being genuine and sencere. Aufvidersen.

  • and i think u need to really look at those years, i think ur thinkin of the 99-05 models.

  • the newer 911's have regained the round headlights of old and the suspension is tuned to be similar to earlier 911s.

  • i've never driven a 911 but i do have a 951 right now. if i had a Porsche collection it would be a 930(maybe a yellowbird), 993 turbo, GT3, the current boxster S(yup), and of course my 951.

  • Hint!

That woman isn't a cop, she's got some horses!

  • filmed in France

  • Really love this, has such an old school feel to it! Brings back good memories and the music helps too :D

What are the names of the musics played in this video anyway?

  • omg, cabrio is ugly.

S2's are questionable in comparison to turbo as turbo's are easier to modify for speed, suspension is equal between the two.

the convertibles... sorry... i don't like them at all!

    I'll stick with my 951 :-)

  • Just love the 944 S2 Cabrio, it was same while you drive this car at Factory Driver at NFS: PU!

  • @loquat15 actually the s2 is a great car if you dont wanna mod it, and leave the car the way porsche intended it. The 16 valve 3.0 litre is much more reliable and easy to maintain in comparison to your 951. with a 0-60 time of 6.1 its not far off either. there both magnificent cars, but i will agree the cabrio is hideous! coupe al the way

  • Love it when the cop appears in the mirror!!

  • love my 87! <3<3

  • The music sounds like an instructional powerpoint presentation.

  • these 20 year old commercials make me laugh!

  • My dad had a 1987 944 until he had a car accident.

  • thats really cool.

If you want to- click on my name. It's got "My first car" vid also. It's pretty cool (porsche boxs.)

  • I had a black 944 cabriolet and it has been my all time favourite car

  • how lucky!

  • lmao, a horse.... wtf

  • so impressed by an S2 not!

  • S2's were suprisingly better than turbos...

  • i dont like the cabrioles.

  • Gorgeous film!

  • this vid sucks. what a piece of crap

  • Yea i own a 944S and it is a cool car. I have the original engine and everything it doesn't brake down.

  • how lucky!

  • if i could pick any car in the whole world this would be the on....but of course i would put a 383 chevy blower in it "yea boy"

  • It was shot in the south of France, Monte Carlo or close by. I can recognize the landscape, the streets. Drive a Porsche in France if you have means, it's a true pleasure.

  • If I moved to Germany or another contry in Europe, the first thing I would do is buy a 944. I envy you! Ich liebe Porsche. Die beste in der welt! (sorry, I know my german sucks...) :-)

  • move to the USA they cost cheap here, and are easy to find (for sale that is)

  • It was a possiblity but I can´t. What´s really good about the US is that cars are really cheap but on the downside you can´t really drive nowhere fatst there, and that absolutely sucks.Where I live (Argentina) cars cost a shitload of money and I would have to save for maaaaaany many years to have one. When you compare the prices they are sold in both countries, I always feel like I want to kill someone!

  • one of the best porsches around till this day

  • This is the best car

  • German Power Car

  • this is classic, very nice

  • Klasse 944 Video
