If this was India the guy in the car would have either drove away or thrashed the biker (as in India it is the rich who have the power and think they are always right). The policeman would have arrested the biker for bad driving and taken money from the car driver.
That happened to me years ago, a car had pulled up in the inside of the A45 (as it turned out he'd miss the right turn into where the old elmdon airport used to be) he thought what the hell it's 11.30pm, nothing about, I'll do an illegal turn right across the duel carriageway but he didn't see me coming in the outside lane and as he turned across my path, I hit his car which sent me over the top and about a hundred yards down the road still in the outside lane on a bend! I'm lucky a taxi saw it!

You're kidding surely? Watch the lady in the foreground, from the time the car starts to do a U turn to the impact she takes 3 steps, that's less than 2 seconds. Where the hell is the biker supposed to go? Opposite lane? and get decapitated in the process?
Also note, this bike span the car around, before anyone thinks about pulling out on a biker they should be aware that a quarter of a ton hurts when it pushes you from your seat out the passenger door!!
@arrdly You're also making a pretty good argument placing the motorcyclist at fault here, which is why most rulings on these things over whether the car fails to yield right of way or turns in front of a cyclist favor the car when it is also found the cyclist was significantly over the posted speed limit. High rate of speed of the cyclist=no time to make the correct decision by the car if they see him at all. We forget, motorists have to see the bike, can't if it's a blur!
@batvette Interesting discussion batvette, where did I make a case in favour of the motorist?. I don't know your location so I can't comment on what your local laws are. But here in the UK the video evidence would see the car driver being found at fault. Due to the unknown framerate it would be impossible to judge from this what the speed of the motorcyclist was. It would be sensible to assume the car driver was doing probably around 5mph before he/she made the U-turn!
@batvette The bike only slid about 10 feet and the rider probably 30 feet. I doubt there would have been any significant skid marks on the road as it all happened too fast. The impact on the car took the energy from the rider/bike almost immediately, thus making any investigation very hard as the maths wouldn't add up! As I said before, the video frame rate would give more info if we had it but alas that's not to be. We can speculate all day long but in my opinion the car driver was at fault.
@arrdly you might be surprised to know that every day all over the world police traffic investigators have been doing investigations for many years without CCTV videos and calculating their frame rates, They will look at skid and slide marks of the vehicles to draw their conclusions.
Who was at fault here is highly dependent upon the rate of speed the motorcycle was travelling, if he was going 50mph in a 25 zone it's on him, if he was going the posted speed it's the car.

It matters not what the speed limit is (though that would be good to know) It clearly shows the car driver not observing other road users, in this case the biker and blatantly cutting across his path. Have you ever been a 2 wheeled motorist? It's a lottery everytime we go out!!

For those saying the rider was going to fast, how do you know. There is no point of reference. The only cars you see in the video are the first car doing a U turn and then the second which is clearly slowing. The biker may have just been going at the correct speed as neither he or the bike travel any distance after the impact, which they would have if he'd have been going at some speed.

I don't know where your from but in England pedestrians have the right of way at all times in all places. They should be allowed on the road and car drivers should be more aware of whats around them. HGV's are massive and take huge distances to stop but you wouldn't take them off the road or stop cars driving on the road due to HGV's being bigger than cars.
Cars are also harder to see when driving a truck and much faster pound for pound. Pedestrians are even harder to see. So basically what your getting at is the only things that should be allowed to use the road are the largest and slowest vehicles, motorcycles are out, cars are out, 4x4's are out, vans are out, 7.5tonne vehicles are out and also class 2 trucks. so we all have to drive class 1 articulated vehicles for safety reasons in your world and pedestrians can't walk on roadside pavements.
Also I think you'll find the comment on them being involved in most accidents is far wrong. The majority of accidents happen between cars. Bikes do have the highest fatality rate and the main reason for bike collisions is car drivers not driving to the standard they are supposed to by law and violating the bikers right of way. It's not the bikers fault car drivers are the most useless drivers on the road. If we want to ride it's our choice and you should be aware of us not want us off the road.

I am always aware of what's around me and always see bikes coming, even from behind when sat in traffic and they come down the middle of the two or three lanes of traffic, which is perfectly legal in England, it's called lane splitting. Most car drivers don't know this and think bikers are wrong for doing this. They are wrong, bikes can move through stationary traffic legally and car drivers have a legal obligation to be aware.

as a car/bike/van driver/rider i am more aware of others on the road including cars and bikes. my most frequent near miss will always be a car driver in their little steel cage with heating, stereo, mobile phone, passengers all taking their mind off the road. as a car driver you have to accept bikes are there, and take reasonable precautions to keep them safe

For those saying the rider was going to fast, how do you know. There is no point of reference. The only cars you see in the video are the first car doing a U turn and then the second which is clearly slowing. The biker may have just been going at the correct speed as neither he or the bike travel any distance after the impact, which they would have if he'd have been going at some speed.

What is the speed limit and where was your radar equipment set up? Yes I live next to a congested city I do agree about landrovers are ridiculous too but that doesnt detract from the point about bikes. They are much faster pound for pound and have ten times less the level of safety that a car does. Id rather be a snob in a landrover than be risking my life on a bike. I don't know where your from but in England pedestrians have the right of way at all times in all places. They should be allowed on the road and car drivers should be more aware of whats around them. HGV's are massive and take huge distances to stop but you wouldn't take them off the road or stop cars driving on the road due to HGV's being bigger than cars.

Cars are also harder to see when driving a truck and much faster pound for pound. Pedestrians are even harder to see. So basically what your getting at is the only things that should be allowed to use the road are the largest and slowest vehicles, motorcycles are out, cars are out, 4x4's are out, vans are out, 7.5tonne vehicles are out and also class 2 trucks. so we all have to drive class 1 articulated vehicles for safety reasons in your world and pedestrians can't walk on roadside pavements.

Also I think you'll find the comment on them being involved in most accidents is far wrong. The majority of accidents happen between cars. Bikes do have the highest fatality rate and the main reason for bike collisions is car drivers not driving to the standard they are supposed to by law and violating the bikers right of way. It's not the bikers fault car drivers are the most useless drivers on the road. If we want to ride it's our choice and you should be aware of us not want us off the road.

Cars have gone through people's house walls and windows, they are more lethal to others than bikes are. Just because a biker is vulnerable does not make them idiots. @s8tank - I drive bikes & cars (for pleasure) and trucks (for work). I am always aware of what's around me and always see bikes coming, even from behind when sat in traffic and they come down the middle of the two or three lanes of traffic, which is perfectly legal in England, it's called lane splitting. Most car drivers don't know this and think bikers are wrong for doing this. They are wrong, bikes can move through stationary traffic legally and car drivers have a legal obligation to be aware.

as a car/bike/van driver/rider i am more aware of others on the road including cars and bikes. my most frequent near miss will always be a car driver in their little steel cage with heating, stereo, mobile phone, passengers all taking their mind off the road. as a car driver you have to accept bikes are there, and take reasonable precautions to keep them safe
