I love my F70EXR, but I have a curious issue with it. When I turn it on the lens moves out, the screen lights up for a split second and then the camera goes dead. To get the lens to move back in I have to remove the battery and put it back in again. I thought it was the battery, but a new battery (generic, off Ebay) didn't do the trick: problem persists. Anyone an idea what this could be?
Hi, thanks for the review. I was wondering if you have had a chance to use or review the Finepix F80? If you had to choose between the two which would you choose? I read something about the photo quality being not as good as it was on the f70 due to the increase in megapixels.
@toolimbo I think the picture quality is somewhat sharper on the F200. Both cameras handle low light very well, but I think the F70 might have the edge for night clubs.
i had an f31fd which i loved until someone stole it last week .I take most my pictures in low light at gigs etc but i also found the colours very vibrant and it took excellent photos .I'm looking to either the f200 or f70 which do you think ,cheers ,happy christmas.
very quick response, thank u so much, I checked the customer images from the amazon, they are pretty good, the price of this camera was around 330 USD in here, is it more expensive than other countries?
Is F200EXR better than F70? which one take good picture?
i did go to the store today, actually I wanted to purchase Sony, but the salesman suggested this camera for me, and now I am checking customer reviews. Some people said that the pictures taken this camera are low quality, daytime landscapes are blurry... is it true?
For me most important thing is image quality, i don't care other things, good camera have to take good pics. I want to see the pics taken by this camera, from where I can see?
This camera takes very good pictures in most cases, and with the proper settings (Auto EXR is the best default). Take a look at the Amazon product page. There are user photos there (including some of mine).
If you want REAL HD QUALITY VIDEO ... get a SONY VIDEO CAMCORDER . You will not find quality like that on any camera !!!
Camera is for taking pictures , should get a camera for the Camera specs . Video mode is just extra , for random backup video, short clips . Buy a Video camera .
I am noticing people talk more about the video camera and less about the CAMERA PHOTO QUALITY , SETTINGS, ZOOM , ANGLES , ISO, SIZE , QUALITY.
In the market for a new camera and some friends bought the F200EXR, so I looked it up. I'm not a fan of not being able to zoom in video mode, and I would like something with a better zoom. I did like the fact however that the video was HD. Which camera can you suggest to me that would have the HD, zoom during video, and possibly a better zoom?
Thanks for your review, was quite useful, although i would like to see you actually taking photos, so i could see the startup time, zoom speed and so on
Also really would like to hear how many pictures it takes on one battery and how many manual settings can be done
Been having the samsung 10x camera and was finding it really nice, stereo sound and hd video with less zoom noise, yet i think this has better picture quality and definately better lowlight capabilities
Good day! I was wondering how the F70EXR stacks up against the F200EXR in terms of overall image quality... The former having a smaller sensor and all... Thanks!
Very instructive video on the F70 - more instructive than the FujiFilm site. A nice camera that needs better video controls. One wonders whether the Continuous focusing in video mode can be turned off as on the Panasonic cameras?

@explodingboy21 - Sorry, didn't get the F80 to review... but if Fuji wanted to send me one I would :-)

How is the video quality? Can it adjust itslf to see detail well?
glittergal02 1 year ago
@glittergal02 - the video quality is really just OK, certainly not HD. It does handle low light well and does refocus fairly quickly.

Hello chillnhill,
I 'm between F70 and F200. Is there any difference in picture quality between the two of them? What's your opinion?
I'm very keen about picture quality, I use for years the top Canon Ixus cameras.
I'm shooting pictures on day light but mostly on night clubs which light conditions are low!
Which camera is the best for this use in you opinion?
Thank you in advance!!

Overall the F200 is the better camera, but the F70 is very good in low light. Merry Christmas to you too!

Not sure about the pricing, but the F200EXR does take better pictures... but it is also more expensive.

Oh, and if price isn't an issue check out the F200EXR (I have video review of that as well). It is a better, but more expensive, camera.
chillnhill 2 years ago
so would you say it's a good camera for taking actual photos? or is it really just a pretty ok "for regular pictures" kind of camera
cicada300 2 years ago
This camera takes fantastic photos, "regular" included. Take a look at the Amazon review comments if you are seriously interested.

is the F200 the upgrade on this?
cantavoidtrite 2 years ago
No, the F70 came out after the F200 and other than that they both have EXR Mode, are fairly different cameras.

Not sure about the zooming, but check out the Pansonic ZS3. it seems to have a very good HD movie mode.

The F200EXR has better overall image quality. They both perform well in most shooting conditions and excell in low or tricky lighting conditions.

Thanks for the answer! I've been scouring the net for someone to compare both cameras. Looking forward to more of your reviews!

Thank you! The camera doesn't continuously auto focus in video mode, it only refocuses when the zoom length is changed. Hope that helps!
