CSX is too cheap to do the right thing and completely replace that worn out and crumbling Anacostia bridge. That ex PRR bridge has outlived its usefulness and needs to be replaced. You'd think they'd spend some cash on this project since this is their only north south route on the eastern seaboard.
I believe this train ran down NS all the way to Lynchburg, VA. Then east on NS to CSX Collier Yard in Petersburg, VA. The train is headed east/southbound.
I remeber back in the 80's seeing the "real" Tropicana train" in Potomac yard, which is now a giant shopping center. Anyway the whole train was green and yellow with Tropicana in orange. The had two locomotives that were the same paint scheme.
This video was shot in Front Royal, VA (northwestern part of the state). The derailment on the bridge had no affect on Amtrak trains as the bridge is used for freight only.
Someone will end up getting fired for the mess. A coal train was heading into Benning Yard, they cut away the power and didn't tie the train down. The train rolled away and 5-7 cars got dumped into the river while others piled on the bridge.
I didn't realize that the Tropicana trains went so far north before being split apart. I see these trains in Zephyrhills FL all the time.

The union employees hate CSX management ( the
worst ran major railroad) They pay the CEO
over 20 million dollars a year and want to lay
off employees and then expect a good working
relationship. It is not happening!

CSX does suck, no question about it. Unions suck too.
meccaturbo 2 years ago
@meccaturbo They don't suck man.
acerocken 3 months ago
@acerocken Yes they do, they promote lazy people.
meccaturbo 3 months ago
@meccaturbo Really? If CSX & UP promote laziness, then what does that leave for Norfolk Southern & BNSF? These 2 railroads seem okay.
Even though I still watch CSX & UP trains in action.... That's about it! Same with NS & BNSF.

Nice catch! Was a good sight to catch in Manassas as well. I am so use to seeing it thru Fredericksburg that this really made a good change of pace!
