I was originally planning on going with the ASP overdrive kit, but the C3P pulley is cheaper, and only requires replacing the supercharger pulley. Runs the same as 178MM ASP. Will probably end up getting C3P heat exchanger too. Your C32 sounds nice with the ASP kit. Any intake, or other modifications?
No it doesn't the C3P runs anywhere from 15psi to 16.5psi (seen it on the mbworld forums) my ASP pulley ran 18.5psi. Before I sold my C32 and had the chance to do it all over again I'd do LET 185mm LET pulley, LET tune and their heat exchanger. The guy who bought my car upgraded to the LET pulley and doesn't regret it if you want I can ask if he's selling the ASP pulley
@neihouma; I ended up going with the 185MM, and tune... I would base my choice of your recommendation, and would like to thank you. Never looked back since. C32 is so fast now! Check my videos if interested. I've got a lot of custom stuff going on under the hood too. Mainly intake modifications.
MOST guys that have a C32 will change the pulley and ECU, among other things, and you can see their posts on forums of how well these bitches run, and the best thing is how well-mannered and COMFORTABLE she is when I'm just cruising, which is something I didn't find in the Beemers.
They didn't 'make' a powertrain for the C32, they used the ones from the 500/600 series, so that tranny can take 500+ft-lbs of torque and 500+ hp no problem. I have an '03 C32 that I 'thoroughly enjoy' if you know what I mean, it has 90K miles on it, runs perfect, and all it does after a hard day is look at me and say 'is that it?"
No offense to you sir, but isn't modding an AMG Mercedes kind of like putting hooker boots and cheap caked-up make-up on Jessica Alba? In the sense that the product straight out of the factory is already near-perfection, why risk screwing up a great masterpiece? I understand it when owners of Camaros, Mustangs, Hondas, Nissans etc want to mod to the hilt because there is a lot of room for improvement, but an AMG mercedes should be left alone.
None taken, I've been tinkering with cars for the past 15 years and it's a very addictive hobby of mines. It's the same thing why does people needs to live in million dollar homes when a apartment would do? It's purely preference my friend.
And factory tuned cars (AMG's, ///M, SVT, SRT, etc...) are tuned safely than normal, always room for improvement if you can do it properly.
No problem, if my restaurant was doing better, I'd sell my M3 Turbo, EVO8 Lancer and the C32 AMG and either buy a E63 AMG or a Corvette ZR1 and I wou;dn't have to modify either of them!
Well in this economy it's considered a feat if your restaurant is still standing, I work in the tourism and hospitality industry and there's attrition all around me. An E63 would be a nice upgrade indeed.
Plus, putting in an aftermarket pulley system to raise the boost pressure will put stresses on the drivetrain not originally accounted for in manufacturer testing. If you mess around with a Mustang Cobra or LS1 Camaro like that, it's fine...they are relatively inexpensive to repair. A mercedes, and I can tell you from personal experience because my father was blessed enough to own two of them...is not inexpensive, to put it mildly.
You gotta pay if you want to play, nothing is guaranteed in life. Haven't you seen stock cars gone haywire? It's called lemon. It's not dangerous because I changed a pulley to raise the boost (let alone I'm now spraying Nitrous), but AMG cars tend to have premium parts like stronger engine, transmission, suspension, brakes and aero-kits, thats why it's labeled AMG, it's built to take a beating and then some. Come to the track you'll see these nice family sedan cars running fast & effortlessly
False. Its pretty much the cooling system in these cars that are unreliable (radiator, the aftercooler, intercooler pump, etc...) Everything else is rock solid
Who are you having do your ECU? I'm about to flip a coin between the APS+ECU or Renntech pulley+ECU. Do you now have an "after" run now that ECU is mapped to take advantage of added boost?
Either go with Renntech or Kleeman if you can't wait, but if you can go with let motorsports dot com, his name is Erick (1FASTC32), a member from mbworld dot org
i like the way it almost came out of it's place
