I've used three different Halo 3 discs, helped other people do it, and I also made a new account and got it again with the same order I used in the video. The video is not a lie, it works.
If people want to spend the extra time jumping through the rings, then go ahead.
That works because you're still jumping through "4 6 5 4 5 3 4." I remember when the IWHBYD skull was discovered, people said you have to jump through 21 rings or so. You don't have to jump through all of those, just 7 rings.
Tell me, did you start from the very beginning of the level? Is it on Normal or higher? Did you jump in the correct order? Sometimes you will think you jumped in the ring, but you really didn't, so be careful. Did you kill the prophet and clear all of the flood on the bridge? Did you pick up the skull and bring it down the hole at the end of the level? I don't know if that's necessary, but try it anyway. I would if that was my case.
yes I am talking about IWHBYD I started from the start on Heroic and I kill truth and all of the flood an I have jumped the rings in the correct order.
I did it this last week and I was able to get the IWHBYD skull. (Made a new XBL account.) The only thing I did differently was walk with it to the end of the level down that hole.
It worked perfectly, and I didn't have ALL of the gold skulls like people were saying that you needed to have. I however had the three silver skulls prior to IHWBYD, but I doubt that having those silver skulls makes a difference.
Try doing that and if that doesn't work, post a comment here, I can do it for you.

you have to start the mission at the START, you only get the acheiv. for GOLD skulls. You get Hayabusa head i think when you get all skulls. Im doing it in a while after i finish slavo highway, do it again on meta, find all the terminals, then find all the silver skulls. Then i will relax online knowing i did everything in the campaign. I only have the last part of highway on legendary left!
Once you have picked up a skull (any skull, it doesn't matter) it will automatically save into your skull screen. The only thing you need to do with the skull is pick it up, that's it.

Some people are saying you need all of the Gold Skulls to get the IWHBYD skull (I did have all gold skulls when I tried this, but didn't think it was a requirement). Try this, and I hope it helps!

I think I found it what the problem is, you have to be sure not to skip the cutscenes on this level or there is a chance it will not work, because I kept skipping the cutscenes until my final time and finally got the skull.
Hey, I have a question, I have looked at every video, did basically everything. Started from the beginning 3 times, suicided killed my self alot assuming that if I messed up, killing myself will help. I also started the sequence over, and over, and over again when I messed up. Yes, unfortunately you have to start from the very beginning of The Ark and get to the scarab spawn point. Once you're there, you grab the Grav Lift and proceed to kill the Scarab. When the Scarab is dead, you progress into the level by going into the building directly to the right of the Grav Lift spawn point. It will start to look very familiar of how it did in the video and you'll find your way.
you had the wrong way to do this. you started off at almost the end of this. there are about 6 or 7 other rings you have to jump through before you can start on what you have here. just for the covenant
You don't have to do it on Legendary difficulty if that's what you're trying to say. You can do it on Normal, Heroic, or Legendary. You CAN'T do it on Easy.
If the skulls are not appearing you're most likely doing it on easy or starting on checkpoints. You have to start on the very beginning of the level and it can not be on easy.

It is in the hallway after you battle the first brute chieftain of the level where all the drones are going in an out of the pipes. When you get in there you will have a "cortana moment".
To add to my below comment: If I miss-jumped one or walked into the hologram then backed off to jump through... Do i have to start the whole level over or just start from the checkpoint (by suiciding or reverting to saved)...trying to figure out whats not working >.> Wanted to be specific. Thanks.
If you accidentally walked through the rings, then yes, you're going to have to revert to the last save. It does mess you up unfortunately. I've done it quite a few times myself, however, there is no need to start the whole level again. I didn't have to atleast, even after numerous attempts.

Ok So I am on Heroic, I started the level at the beginning. I got the Gold Skull and the 3 terminals just fine. Killed Truth, Wiped out all the flood (If I didn't and there is one little infection form running around does that prevent it from triggering the event as in activating the skulls spawn). I Jumped through the rings in order, suicided to revert to checkpoint, ran through them (and yes in 4654534). I have tried several times now. Do I have to face a certain direction jumping throughthem?
The silver skulls do not give achievements. Once you pick them up, the game recognizes that you have them and your armor should show up in your settings after you've exited campaign. (After picking up the skull of course.)

You have to kill the Prophet, which is when you're allied with the flood. After you kill Prophet, the flood turn against you. Kill all the flood on the bridge and attempt to jump through the rings. If you don't kill the flood, there may be some interruptions that will mess you up in the process.

We can't add you, considering that we're very busy.
If you've gotten the Grav Lift from the building outside (Where the Scarab comes in) you go into the building to the right side. You get to the spot located in the video and deploy your Grav Lift. It may take some positioning if you don't get it your first try.
Keep in mind that you can revert to the last save if you're having trouble getting to the spot, positioning the Grav Lift, or if the Grav Lift ran out of time.
Ok someone help ? I picked up the IHWBYD skull walked around with it but yet once a ended the game i didnt get the skull were you turn them on and off. if anyone can help please do
If they don't flash, I reckon you're doing something wrong! :-P
Make sure to do these:
1. Start the level from the beginning.
2. Make sure it's on any difficulty except for EASY!
3. Clear the whole bridge before jumping through the rings. (Including the Prophet) As a Side note, you might want to clear the bridge twice in case of any interruptions.
4. Do not accidentally walk through the rings. This tends to mess you up.
5. Make sure you are jumping through the right order, 4 6 5 4 5 3 4.
Iwhbyd (I would have been your daddy) unlocks new humorous dialogue. And with grunt birthday party, every time you shoot a grunt in the head, confetti shoots out and children cheer in the background. The confetti does damage to enemies
"Co-op reverts to previous checkpoint on player death. Solo restarts mission. In co-op games, if one player dies, you all restart at the last checkpoint. In individual games, if you die, the entire mission restarts."
sweet this is my favorite music! And I play this song on the violin! its called "The Gale" and is from Last of the Mohicans (probably misspelled that).
The silver skulls do not give you achievements, it just counts when you pick it up. IWHBYD is a silver skull, therefore it gives no achievement, but you secretly still get it in your skulls inventory.

kill truth first.
it'll be best to kill the flood too.

Keep in mind that you can only obtain these skulls only if you start on the beginning of the level, so do not try to check point, it will not work!
Obtaining the skulls only works with every difficulty except for 'Easy.'

The rings are used for jumping through to get the I Would Have Been Your Daddy Skull. They're located at the end of The Covenant Campaign level.
When you jump through them in a certain order to unlock the skull, they will all flash white.

held it fer like 5 seconds then i saved it and quit
when i went to the campaign lobby it said that i haven't gotten it yet and it only flashed my one other silver skull but not that one

Okay I did all the ring thing got them flashing next thing I know I go to pick up the skull so I do then I pick it up and it dont give me my fucking achievement!!!!HELP anyone!!!!

The IWHBYD skull is a silver skull. Silver skulls do not give achievements, they just unlock new armor.

i fucking hate tryin to get IWHBYD... thats the only 1 i need to get and its pissin me off big time. help plz cus i go thru all the hoops (in order) but the thing isnt where its supposed 2 be..... is it when the flood are on ure side or the level after... PLZ REPLY

You have to kill the Prophet, which is when you're allied with the flood. After you kill Prophet, the flood turn against you. Kill all the flood on the bridge and attempt to jump through the rings. If you don't kill the flood, there may be some interruptions that will mess you up in the process.

i dont get it i got all the skulls then i got to the IWHBYD skull and i got it ok but after i quit the mission i looked at my skulls and they all was there exept that one

We can't add you, considering that we're very busy.
If you've gotten the Grav Lift from the building outside (Where the Scarab comes in) you go into the building to the right side. You get to the spot located in the video and deploy your Grav Lift. It may take some positioning if you don't get it your first try.
Keep in mind that you can revert to the last save if you're having trouble getting to the spot, positioning the Grav Lift, or if the Grav Lift ran out of time.

If you're talking about an achievement, you don't get any from the silver skulls, only the golden skulls.
If you're not talking about achievements, then make sure you,
1. Not on Easy mode.
2. Started from the beginning of the level.

silver akulls dont give gamerscore the skulls that get the achievement are the nine gold skulls.

If they don't flash, I reckon you're doing something wrong! :-P
Make sure to do these:
1. Start the level from the beginning.
2. Make sure it's on any difficulty except for EASY!
3. Clear the whole bridge before jumping through the rings. (Including the Prophet) As a Side note, you might want to clear the bridge twice in case of any interruptions.
4. Do not accidentally walk through the rings. This tends to mess you up.
5. Make sure you are jumping through the right order, 4 6 5 4 5 3 4.

If you've done all these correctly, I suggest to go to the Official Halo 3 Bungie Forums or try posting at IGN, Gamefaqs, etc.

Iwhbyd (I would have been your daddy) unlocks new humorous dialogue. And with grunt birthday party, every time you shoot a grunt in the head, confetti shoots out and children cheer in the background. The confetti does damage to enemies

The silver skulls do not give you achievements, it just counts when you pick it up. IWHBYD is a silver skull, therefore it gives no achievement, but you secretly still get it in your skulls inventory.
