See my note above. I'd been playing through an amp; he insisted that I play the "thump" pedal (he loved the sound) to keep time. I obeyed the master--and posted the video, even though I knew some people would focus on the low harp volume.
Sorry m8 my dad plays in a band and is always b*tching about the sound guy....levels are something I always pay attention to. Dont get me wrong...I certainly appreciate your posting the video and I enjoied it.
Yes. And he uses his index finger to get the syncopated "snap." If I were a guitar player looking for some insight into how Mississippi blues is actually played, I would park myself in front of this video and the previous one I put up and spend some serious woodshed time.
As always, it's a pleasure Adam! Thanks for taking us there bro. All I can say is roots man!! I'm lovin' Mr. Johnny. Reminds me of a dear friend of mine. An old retired vet. We would sit and talk for hours about nothing and play about everything! I consider the years I've known him a true gift from God.
Very nice song.Always cool to hear and see something like that.Wish they would hav some kind of festivals like this in Germany but there is nothing i know of.Keep on harpin´.
What is that Thump Box? I couldn't see it in the Video. Is it something you built? Has a cool sound. I wish I could play guitar as effortlessly as Johnny. His fingers just seem to glide over the strings.
Sometimes the job of the harp player is to obey the guitar player. Johnny loved the sound of my thump-box so much that I was forced to unplug my harp mic and plug in that thump-box. I knew, even as I did it, that somebody who saw the video was going to complain about--or at least down-rate me for--the low volume of the harp. I decided that my job was to give the bluesman what HE wanted, not harp addicts what they wanted. I'd encourage you to do the same thing, if you were in my shoes.
Perfect...I would have loved to be there. Whats it like to jump in and jam with other street performers? Is it acceptable so long as you're a positive contribution to the sound, or does it usually happen primarily amongst good friends? I've always wanted to wander New York or Harlem with a Harp and find a chill harmony with another performer
Gave me a chill, great blues

Nice very nice. He has the feel of R.L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough. Is he from the hill country?

No, he's from Lambert, in the Delta.

great rythim playing à la Sonny terry with your personal touch. Amazing. Don´t worry about the low volume, we can still hear the harp-

Great one Adam, the only remark I have to do is that your harp isn't amplified the way the guitars are. That makes the harp sound a bit weak.
However, great video and groove (that steady groove you often mention in your lessons)
Looking forward to the CD you sent off :-)
cheers

I agree. for the music's sake it's more important to fit in than to stand out!
