@tjmick1992 I think I was 20 when I posted this. I had a scratchy throat that week, yeah....scratchy throat, that sounds logical. lol I don't know what was going on. I'm sporting a pretty heavy accent too. I hope that's just what I sound like when I'm improvising, and not the way I talk all the time. haha
hey quick question,i live in cali, and i wanted to know if thats legal where im at, i figure its legal to have on it, but is it legal to ride and have it on at the same time? like for safety reasons? cuz i wanna be more noticeable at night...got me a zx10r 2004 in electric blue, and i think that would look great on my bike with that blue
My local police captain said that if it's CAPABLE of flashing then an officer could ticket you if they choose. I responded by saying that yes it's capable (any light is capable of flashing if wired to do so) but, no it doesn't flash. So really it comes down to if cops around you are dicks. I ride past cops all the time and have yet to be stopped. If cars with underglow are allowed to ride down the road, then you're probably ok. But to be safe, you really need to ask an officer where you live.
Yeah I had a Chevy Cobalt with Blue LEDs underneath and went about 4 months before I got rid of it with no problems. I even got pulled over do to a license plate error with the LEDS still on and the cop didn't say a word. I say it's ok.
im sure if you tell the officer that you want to be more noticable and such at night, and dress nicely, not sloppy to ask him, incase you dont, my neighbor had to do that and he is young, thats how he got by, by saying he needed it to be more noticable and he dressed nice and was VERY polite he told me
@calfan3 Nearly correct. Yes you can have them, however the bike has to be stationary with the engine off when they are turned on. Whilst riding they MUST be turned off
@gnarly79 really? well i live in indianapolis, and here i always see cars with underglow, and sometimes they are flashing, i got a friend who has green leds under his civic, and he says hes never been pulled over. either way, i wouuldnt risk it
It looks a lot better in person. It doesn't show up well on camera. And I know that neon and LEDs are different things. And to take it further...Neon gas gives off an orange/red color. Argon gas gives off a blue color. Other colors are the result of tinting the glass or adding other chemicals to the inside. :)
You're entitled to your opinion, but don't call me a poser. They're flashy and get attention, that's why I like them. I hate the way that movie makes people think doing mods on foreign vehicles is a "trashy" thing. At least I did it right, so there are no wires or lights visible. All you see is the glow.
very nice dude, i'm guessing that since you got the neons at advance auto, they're legal? for street use? hey what colors do they have besides red and blue? also how are they on the battery? use up alot of power? can u wire them to the ignition, or do u hav a switch? sorry for all the ??'s. it just looks really good. thanx man...sweet bike btw.
I guess it depends on where you live as to how legal they are. And how cool the cops are. I ride down the road with them on all the time and have yet to be stopped. They come in lots of colors but only red, blue, and green were available from advance auto at the time. I wired mine in to the tail light so they can't be left on accidentally (controlled by ignition). I also installed an inline switch to turn them on and off. Otherwise they would be on whenever the ignition is on. Pretty easy to do.
wow im liken the neons ALOT!!....what color is u r bike? i got the red one... and how much u spend on the neons? one more question... how did u mount them...like did u skrew it on?
My bike is blue. The neons are LED strips made by Street Glow. I got them at Advance Auto for about 60 bucks. Kinda expensive but they ar much easier to install than neon tubes. They are attached with the supplied 3M brand double sided body trim tape. So they aren't going anywhere!
Thanks, But the video doesn't do them justice. I can't seem to get a good shot of the "glow." It just won't show up. But rest assured, the LEDs put out a lot of light inside the bike and on the ground.
how old are you?
you sound like your 40 here...

I agree, LED's are also a great way to improve visibility, making it alot safer to ride at night. Good job on your bike man!
