  • J,adore ce quintet, il est magnifique!

  • @Messiaen28

    Vous avez raison. Moi aussi.

  • Jeepers, why have I never heard of this man? I love music from this period, which with hindsight seems to convey all the anxieties of the "unfinished business" from one world war which led inevitably to the next, but there is both emotional intensity and technical wizardry here that transcends its period. Maybe in Europe we are too mesmerised by Bartok to hear this American voice, but on the strength of this piece Ornstein has nothing to fear from the comparison. I shall be devouring him now!

  • @1234cottagedoor

Following a highly public career between 1910 and 1930, he retreated to a very private life, making almost no effort to publicize his music. It fell to me to compensate for that lack following my own retirement. The internet has been a helpful ally in that undertaking.

  • Tomorrow I'm gonna post another recording of this Quintet (one I prefer over this one, actually), along with sheet music. I hope you'll like it, Mr. Ornstein! That's truly an extraordinary, really powerful (and yet gorgeous) piece of music.

  • @madlovba2

Thanks for posting this. Marc sent me a CD copy at the time he played it. Yes it's a far better performance.

  • The wild man dance is better.

  • @musicalidea

    chacun à son propre goût

  • Are you THE severo ornstien or are you just a big fan?

  • @huzzzzzzahh

I'm not sure what you mean by THE Severo Ornstein. Yes, that's my name and I am Leo Ornstein's son — and also a fan of his music.

  • @severo9876 what i meant by THE Severo Ornstein is the same as THE Vladimir Horowitz or THE Marc Andre Hamelin. Since your username does not include your last name i was thinking it could be another severo who maybe happened to be turned on to you father's music because he has the same name, stranger things have happened. I also thought it was just too good to be true that I could easily talk to the son of one of my favorite composers. I have yet to find a youtube channel for liszt's son.

  • Awesome stuff! Someone recommended this on a Mosolov vid, and I think his recommendation is spot on

  • @MrLindenson

    Mosolov video???

  • I love his music, one of the greatest composers ever born!!!!

  • @lebu2006

Certainly one of the most important of the 20th century. Too bad more people don't know this music.

  • love the rhythm around 0:52

  • fantástica!!!

  • Merci bien. Vous avez raison. Bonne chance.

  • Vraiment un tres beau quintette j'espere pouvoir le jouer un jour.

  • I believe this to be one of the greatest pieces of music ever written. Thank you for posting this.
