How far were you from a safety zone? From the angle it looks like you were in the grass/shrubbery. If that wind would've changed, you would've been crispy. I have yet to see any man outrun a running grassfire. I've been a structure/wildland firefighter for 15 years, so I have a fair background in this field (no pun intended).
About 200 feet to the rear of me was a park, short fresh cut grass, so I did have an escape route. Trust me if that open area wasn't there I would have never been on that side of the fire
That to me is still too far away. Did you ever see the video of the shelter deployment of the 7 LA firefighters? They were only 35 feet away from blacktop down below them. The fire turned and they had no chance to do anything but throw out their shelters. It's photo still video with the radio traffic at the same time. Puts things in a sobering prospective.
its actually does some good for the environment. all except for the smoke. brush fires stimulate regrowth of the plantlife after a fire. some trees out west actually depend on fires to re-germinate. When and if you are near a brush fire, go back three weeks later and see the green foliage that has regrown. I know. I am a volunteer firefighter and have been for 8 years.
well yes usually in most cases, but when the fire is being blown towards a town then they have to get in front and fight it. They also light control fires to waste the fuel.
shit son those are like the size of my bonfires

On a fire like that one, ten feet from a safety zone or the burn area would be too far away.

that was "out of control"? come on. seemed like a fire-use fire.

When it goes from comfortable to burning the hair on my head, I consider that out of control!
mabas21 3 years ago 3
true, it's all subjective.

yea your right lol

I see it that if I cant control the fire by myself, its out of control. Maybe the FD could tame that mother but I sure as hell couldn't.

Pertelot 4 years ago
Nope, they were on the other side of the fire. It was moving towards me.
mabas21 4 years ago
Why didn't you get the fire fighters over there on ur side if it was coming towards you?
98837 4 years ago
dude the firefighters wouldof had to go through the fire
hahaclub 4 years ago
Firefighters are too smart to get in front of a wildfire. Always fight those from the burned side.
D0323 4 years ago
Yeah that makes more sence hehe. Thanks for answering my question.
