NOTE: The picture of the Observatory is Mt Palomar, San Deigo County CA---200 inch mirror. The observatory was built in 1947. Took ~10 yrs for the mirror to cool and it is a mirror not a "lens". A Scale model of it exists at Griffith Observatory/Planetarium in LA.

Dude, if thats the cause, H.G.Wells riped him self off with the radio play version, the only reason he did this is because that he came out and said that the no matter that when someone do a version, the whole point if the story is how the leading super power OF THE DAY fall apart if faced by an unknown power greater to its own, when the book was done, it was England, then when with the radio play and the two movies, 50's & the 07 version I'm on about, it was the US, so it can be base anywhere.

Um..I think you may be confusing H.G. Wells (who wrote the novel) with Orson Welles (who adapted it for radio and performed in it)?

Anyway...as far as it being "ripped off" by the action being moved to America - so what?

Yeah two movies have been made, I think the one in the 50's was more realistic to what H.G. Wells wrote.

The one in 2005 was close to the book, but not close enough, it was a good movie.
