@MultiAditya07 the beetlebot will have difficultly to press the swtich, it might work that great. You will have to make a very long lever! Even there, might not work.
@hmillos there is no wheels. It is "heat shrink" over the shaft of the motor. "Heat shrink" is a plastic/rubber tubing of different size. When heated it shrink smaller. It helps to protect electrics connections, soldering, etc.
DUDE THANK YOU LIKE TEN TIMES :P me and my friend are doing this as a science project and were only 13 and really good with electronics thanx ........
my dont work :((( everything works fine, but when i press the one of the STPDs it stops the motor on that side, stops not reverse, someboedy help :(((
Where can I find the first version, I would like to build this but I'm pretty sure you will NOT need just 2 motors, 2 batteries and 2 switches... or do you? What's that wheel in the end of the bettle robot for?
Your instructable is very well done, and the bot is great! Did you come up with the idea and schematic on your own? It is a great idea. Do you have any favorite bot building or electronic design basics books you can recommend for the robot hobbyist? I think my next attempt will be the one motor walker.
@tzimmerm27 Hello, yes I came with that idea and schematic back in 1999 when I started robotics. Here are some good book, JunkBots, Bugbots, and Bots on Wheels: Building Simple Robots With BEAM Technology, Absolute Beginners Guide to Building Robots and a new one call Make: Electronics Book vy charles platt, very nice book. There are plenty of cool book out there. I also recommend google and instructables for free stuff. The BEAM yahoo list is very good. I started on that list back in 2000.
Hey Jerome thank you so much for the video. I just finished making my own and it is so much fun. I would recommend to anyone who wants to do a fun project to try this out.
muy bueno!! me inspiro (:

00:52 you were holding down the switches to make the motors go, so how do you make the motors go without holding down the switches.

i dont get it, how is it different from bbot v1??
prankit1 2 years ago
@prankit1 the antenna/switch are cross meaning that it is more easy to solder the connection of the robot, thus more easy to build!

no electronic components? xD
ThePengPengBand 2 years ago
Yes, no electronic components, only a battery holder and two SPDT switchs!
JeromeDemers 2 years ago
You can get the motors from things like those disposable electric tooth brushes or broken toys.
Just make sure both motors match.

what did you use for the cover?
nyxdarkness1 2 years ago
I use a cap from a gel bottle. I added some putty to make it round and spray paint to make it nice!
