  • oh lucky my grandma lives in lowell and i go back to see her every year and never have time to go railfanning there :C

  • What do you mean they hardly get any Amtraks? Its not like they switch around routes everyday. You either get an Amtrak train or you dont.

  • Wow, very close. your lucky you didnt get sucked into the train. Yes, it happens.

  • nice job to bad you didint put that camera on the tracks that would have been cool

  • little close dont you think. Luckily nothing hanging off that engine or cars. Be safe. still cool vid

  • FUCK YOU HUNEYBUNNY05. We can't fucking wait till you move your sorry ass out of town either. Lowell is an awesome town. When I go to IU or Ball State, I'll miss the hell out of it!

  • hey i live there and i dont no where that track is?

  • This is Lowell, Indiana, just fyi cause i know there are other Lowells in other states. It is south of the Middle School by the factory that makes the car plastics (the big white factory that they put the star on during the holidays)

  • yeah i live in indiana

  • k, do you know what crossing I am talking about now?

  • yeah i think

  • hah,

    You guys are funny...

    too close also...

  • Comment removed

  • uh no we don't

btw, you spelled weird wrong, so who are you calling retarded? ;) lol

  • @SuperDudeIsHere Oh Fu** you!

  • lol exactly

  • wow huneybuney02 we cant wait until you move your hater ass out of lowell and go to a wross shithole than your applevalley home!

  • If a train is moving very fast, you will find yourself getting sucked toward it if you are too close. I believe this is related to the Bernoulli principle of fluid motion, but don't quote me on it!

  • Well I must not have been close enough, It felt like it was going to blow me over by the drag it was creating, but I am not sure if it wanted to just make me fall over on the ground or make me fall over toward that train! :O I WILL NOT get that close again!

  • a train does not have enough mass, or surface area to cause you to be sucked onto the tracks

  • Wow, this just tells you how bored we are in Lowell(abama) Indiana

  • lol, exactly, nothing is out there! :) (getting to be a bigger town tho...)

  • You got a really cool shot up close here, nice work.

  • Thanks, but that was a little to close for comfort! lol :)

  • Ya, next time I would try a tri-pod.

  • The guy under me has the wrong train. Only the Hoosier State and The Cardinal stop in Dyer. That train was neither. The cars had no superliner logos on the cars.

  • Amtrak runs once daily from Chicago to Indy in each direction. So that train actually runs thru Lowell twice a day (at least M-F, not sure about weekends). I know this cuz I used to ride that train from Dyer to Chicago back when I lived in Lowell (unfortunately the train does not stop in Lowell, so Dyer to the north or Rensselaer to the south r the closest options).

  • ah, k thanks, btw, they are thinking of putting a station in Lowell (not sure where, pry where the old one was), just fyi! :)

  • 15 ft away from the tracks is usually the rule. Any closer and the crews will likely report you.

  • ya... this one i did get way too close, my other ones i would say are about 12 - 15 feet away, i usually stand just behind the gate and just stick my arm out a little bit or lean, but no probs yet. Thanks for the heads up! :)

  • they report you if ur too close? Ive been way closer than that and never gotten in trouble

  • Hit or miss. Company policy requires them to report you, some do, some don't.

  • so does the 15ft rule apply to station platforms too? And what happens when they report you?

  • It's not 15 ft set in stone; it's more of a guideline. Most railroads will tell you to stay at least that far back because on average that's how far their ROW extends outwards. Just use common sense - for example, standing right next to a moving train is not very smart. It's dangerous and illegal (since you are technically trespassing). When you are reported, either rail police or local police will show up and ask for your ID, and will tell you to leave if you are on the RR's property.

  • Actually once i was near a switch track area with my friend and the rail police came but he didn't just tell us to leave, he wrote us up and gave us a Citation! :(

  • As for station platforms, just don't cross the yellow line, no one really should even have to tell you that.

  • well i just try to stay out of there way. thanks a lot :)

  • haha, oakly ave...and Globe, or whatever they call it now...

  • what do u mean? lol u live near it?

  • Hi justin, its redhead in studyhall

  • This is his friend. Justin said Hi! :)

  • who? nick

  • Nah, i used to live out there till 7th grade, i was the one recording, justin was there wit me, used his cam.

  • Not much freight on the old Monon anymore. Heck, you were lucky you saw what you did. Looks like they installed new signals as well. I remember when there were semaphores and then searchlight signals on the line. I think CSX runs a daily fright from Chicago to Greencastle and vice-versa. Not much else to see except the local.

  • Hi I wold have to agree with 2hobostjohn but i have some thing to add on. One wold be that u shold try to get more close up shots and the other wold have to be a pass by.

  • Best video of a Amtrak flying past u. U need to try and get a close up of more trains but longer.

  • Thanks, we would, but where i live (not in lowell) we got a citation for being by the tracks away from the crossing :( but we will keep trying in Lowell! :) i do wish this train was longer, i expected a Friehgt n e ways! lol

  • not that good better luck next time
