Billy Joel is Awesome. Weird Al not some much one or 2 funny songs, nothing compared to the many awesome songs Billy Joel played. beside that fact that this song make fun of some one awesome it's also not very good, my ears hurt just from listening to the start of it.

I personally love Billy Joel so I can understand why some of his fans find this offensive, however, Weird Al Yankovic is still an artist completely entitled to his artistic freedom. Both are respectable artists on both sides of the spectrum.

When I saw this in a suggestion, I initially thought it was another song parody that Weird Al didn't actually do, but some moron labeled it as being by him, and I clicked on the link with the intent of hitting the Dislike button and commenting "This is not Weird Al, moron". This is AWESOME!!! and I do enjoy Billy. No matter what he does "he is still Billy Joel to me" its not really a hating song, its a love song as in "I love you even when you suck"

in 1984, during a 'guest lecture' at the Music Business Institute in Atlanta, we had Rick Derringer (Produced Weird Al at the time) tell us that this song existed but Billy Joel wouldn't allow it to be released. I am very confused by all the negative comments on this song. "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me" was written by Joel about his refusal to change his own musical style to try and remain relevant to younger audiences, even when pressured by a manager or record label.

This song is making fun of the idea that Billy Joel would or should ever feel pressured to change, since he's already so successful the idea of trying to make him seem "trendy" is stupid.

You have missed the points of both songs.

I think you are missing the point. This song is a joke - its not like he's campaigning against him. Al usually asks permission from the artists he parodies (even though copyright law allows him to do otherwise). Al also did a parody of Piano Man (Ode to a Superhero) which Billy really digged.

And to say Al cannot come up with his own tunes shows you've probably never actually taken the time to listen to a full Weird Al album (each album is half parodies and half original tunes).
