ever since my gf got me a pipe for my birthday last year, i've had some trouble getting a good experience with my pipe. I really like your videos and they helped out a lot.
Hey guys check out my video for some awsome smoke rings and banter between me and my friends , im gonig to start doing all tobacco related videos on cigars, pipes, and cigarettes so there will be something for everyone.
The process of lighting your pipe properly? as opposed to what? the process of trying to light your pipe with a banana? come on, you gotta be kidding me!
I wish I saw this and the series when I started. I spent more money on a pipe than I was really comfortable with but I'm ok with it now, however, I think I scorched the top of the pipe because I "huffed on it like a freight train" (HaHa that is awesome funny). BTW my first pipe was a Peterson at near $75 because I had to start with quality to "know" if I enjoy the hobby. I learned a lesson in my young age.
im new to smoking and was wondering how hot of a pipe is to hot on the bowl and how long does a pipe last. It seems like i was outside for a hour. also how often should i take a draw from a pipe?
My speakers are broken so I can't hear the video, but I did have one question. Is using a regular lighter still feasible or does it make lighting any more complicated? (beginner pipe smoker here)
hey there. thanks a lot for the video. the first time i tried to smoke a pipe was a couple days ago and it was an epice fail. lol but i looked up some videos on here and found yours. very helpful. i have one question. are you suposed to be able to taste the tabacco as well as you can smell it?(if u know what i mean)
I'm lighting my pipe with this method well. But after smoking almost half of tobacco, tobaccos at edge are burning out. What is problem? Sorry for my english, i hope you understand me. Thank you.
@batuhantasli Try experimenting with the density of your pack. Also, keep it lightly and gently tamped. Frequently touch the bed of ashes with your tamper - about every few puffs. Hope that helps and thanks for commenting.
That too was more helpful knowledge. I made the mistake with my first two smokes by "using the elbow grease" and packing it much to tight. Its really nice to have this "how to" on pipe smoking.
Hey Eric! Great video. As a beginning pipe smoker, I've learned a lot! I use a Colibri butane lighter. When doing the charring light and regular light should I not do it as long? As you know, the butane is a hot blue flame :)
Are you using a jet lighter? If so, definitely keep the flame near the pipe no more than a second or so at a time.
As for a regular butane lighter like I'm using in the video (a Corona Old Boy) I've had no problems using that type of flame as demonstrated in the video.
Unfortunately, many novice pipe smokers fail to realize this important "rule of thumb."
In addition, there are several "self-appointed experts" on You Tube who need to implement this important lesson into their own pipe smoking excursions.
I'm truly glad you liked them. I'm always happy to answer any questions you may come up with - send me a comment here or on my blog. Also, have a look at the other video here by the Youtube pipe smoking folks.

your video on lighting a pipe has saved my
tongue from total destruction.i have always tried
to make it like molten lava that the pipe could
smoke without me drawing on it.now i enjoy the
relights & it smokes alot cooler.
also thanks for your recommendation on
hearth & home classic burley kake.i love it & i
cannot believe i am smoking burley & my tongue is not falling off.thanks

Thank you Kind Sir! I have an impatient moment here in there where I would do well to take my own advice as well.
I appreciate the comment. Did you find the Sonny Rollins album?
