  • It is Fred Rich's Orchestra...... Look for Jerry Colonna and Bunny Berigan.

  • Great Gatsby!

  • Is this the Paul Whiteman Orchestra?

  • Not absolutely certain, but I think the man with the trombone solo is my great uncle Ben Pickering. He played with Rollini and the timeframe is about right. I have a ton of old photos, including one that is autographed, of Adrian Rollini.

  • super

  • sup

  • Love this version, the ol' tiger changed his stripes musically through the years, listen to Gus Arheim and this version both equally enjoyable, this sax solo is a knockout.

  • Ah, thnx so much for sharing. Just amazing........!!

  • it looks more Joe Rushton to me

  • Rollini is clearly sitting at the extreme left of the sax section playing the enormous bass saxaphone.

  • "you'll see"...but you won't hear! :-/

Tenor soloist is Hank Ross, then on staff at CBS (where Rich worked). Fine player who didn't get to make many records.

Colonna was a CBS staff player at the time, too, so that very well might be him.

Too bad about dub quality, but most of this stuff is buried so deep it probably won't ever get any better.

  • i agree for Rich. Berigan uncertain,i can't see well.

    But no Rollini at all!!

  • Looks like Berigan trumpet, top right. Leader is Fred Rich if I'm not mistaken. Thanks.

  • I think it's Berigan also.

  • it really rocks!!! Love those 30s music and movies!
