Great series, I found it today and watched it from start to end! I've always wondered how home build racecars are made, this is the first proper step by step series I've been able to find. Ive always had an itch inside me to do some amateur racing, and your videos have shown me its possible. Now just to finish off uni and sink any cash i can earn into a car :D! Living in Belgium I doubt there wil be many camaros around, but an E30 will work?
Has the weather improved enough to continue working?
What an awesome woman! Where were you when I was looking? My wife would never even consider doing anything like this. She might break a finger nail! What a catch! A woman that knows how to use a grinder AND a welder?! And, what kind of tubing bender is that you're using? Great series!
Ahh yes... mitering with an angle grinder. Takes me back to when I did the exact same job on a friend's Porsche 914/6 GT5R race car. I remember having to TIG sections in the front end while being nearly upside down since we didn't have a chassis rotisserie... fun stuff!
What is the technique that you are using with the propane touch and the wire brush- I've not seen that before. Are you just heating it as you brush it to prepare the surface? Is it better than a sanding disk?
@scafativ This type of car has an undercoat that comes off easily with heat and a little abrasion. A wire brush is good to get down into the low spots(the frames are folded stamped metal with many low and high features)
@jeriellsworth Your welds are beautiful- they look like TIG rather than MIG. Especially with your being outdoors- I find that the Argon tends to get blows away, when outside. And seemingly no splatter at all. You are a magician.
Thanks for another update Jeri, it's going to suck waiting for the next videos in this series! (You're one of the very few people I'm subscribed to on YouTube.)
Do you have any plans that are drawn. Good job on all of this. it is going together good!!

Do you race Jeri?
booomhauer 9 months ago
@booomhauer I raced and built outlaw and late model full tube chassis cars for years. I have a video showing pictures of the cars in my channel.
jeriellsworth 9 months ago
@jeriellsworth right, I meant to ask if you currently race. Thx
booomhauer 9 months ago
@booomhauer I haven't raced a full season for 12 years. I get to borrow a car from time to time.

Like watching the heroine in A Knight's Tale building armor. Too bad there isn't a 2nd heroine armor builder in the world.

@Dread58 Thanks. It's called "The Affordable Bender" It has it's problems, but it's very usable if you clam the die while inserting the pipe.

Of all the videos I watch on YouTube, I've noticed that only Jeri gets my full and complete attention every time. They're always so fascinating.

is that a MIG or are you using flux wire?
deathventure 1 year ago
@deathventure NVM, read the rest of the comments. lol.
deathventure 1 year ago
@deathventure It's MIG. I don't like flux core, unless it's my portable welder at the track and I need something fixed in a hurry,

Wow, seriously beefy construction. If the world ever goes all dystopian and I need an appropriately Mad Max-style ride, I know who to call. :)

hi jerie. does one need stuff like solder for electric welding? or how exactly does this work?
raoul4 1 year ago
@raoul4 This type of welding has a feed or steel wire coming up the handle and argon shield gas to prevent oxygen from getting to the weld.
jeriellsworth 1 year ago
@raoul4 The wire is melted by an arc between the wire and the work piece.

@scafativ When the wind blows I have Trish come hold a piece of cardboard. We did this 4-5 times, but it may have been off camera.

Jerie, is this your own design, or is it a standard build based on requirements for the classification of racing you will be doing?
fronkenpoop 1 year ago
@fronkenpoop There are basic rules we must obey, but this is based off of a standard design I've used for years.
