re: the flashing clock...the 'digits' are cycling at 60 hz (60 times/sec) while your camera is more then likely capturing at 30fps and its not 'timed' to the clocks cycle, causing a 'strobe' effect. Happens on almost anything that cycles, ie. helicopter blades, fans, car wheels (hence that 'backward spin' look in videos.) Its also the reason why 'talent' avoids thin stripes on camera. Its also the principle on which strobe light recording works to 'stop' movement.
Lol, I disagree. I have the same mic. It picks up everything in the room. If I'm downstairs, it picks up the talking in the next room, if I'm in my room, it picks up my chinchilla running around. If I plane flies overhead, it picks that up, too.
That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it can be.
having looked at your videos...the problem might well be an issue with placement, not the mic. You use the dynamic mic close to you, but you use the AT2020 some distance away. Condenser mic's of this 'type' are not designed to capture vocals from 4ft or 2 ft above your head pointed at a wall (ref: bathroom recording). Try recording 6 to 12 in. directly in front of the element (the actual diaphragm that captures the sound waves). Check some youtube vids on condenser mic placement.
The distance was especially a problem before I started using the Boom stand, but even with the 6-12 inches, you can still hear all the the background noise. Don't get me wrong, I love the mic and I love the quality, but I need a more quiet place to record. XD
