Does anyone know if Peyote are part of the "Living Stones" Family of Cactus? Their form is certainly similar to many kinds of living stone cactus I've seen. Anyway, they're very beautiful... I don't know if I'd have the heart to cut one of the buttons off and eat it, especially after growing it for years and years... @RACISTPIG1488 you are meant to eat it, you can also make tea with it. Im pretty sure the native americans just used to chew it. You need to cut off the skin and the prickly bits first. There are a few sites out there that can help you, im not that well informed but am gathering as much info as i can before trying some. The trip is very intense if you have a strong one.

Here is what I think: It's legal to buy up to age 4 years old. So buy a 4 year old, and give it another 4 to 6 years of tender love and care. This whole time the legal system will say it's "Illegal." but if you are careful they won't find out. You try hard and grow it to a ripe age. The whole time for 4 or 6 years, you tell the plant your thoughts, questions, wonders, fears, and when you finally finiahs and you can partake of the peyote buttons, they are specifically tuned to YOU. first of all, I wouldn't recommend making tea out of peyote, the taste is just abhorent. secondly, when grown from a seed and not grafted, you should give the cacti at least 5 years of solid growth including dry periods. for easier consumption, I recommend drying the buttons (make sure they don't rot away in the process) and grinding them into fine powder. this can then be ingested much easier with drink or food to cover the taste. any questions, let me know

that's not correct. native americans are allowed to use the cactus for ceremonial purposes. there really isn't any medicinal use for either mescalin or any other alkaloid found in peyote. but i agree, it is sad that most people use LSD and mescalin just for fun, to see some funny colours etc rather than to explore their minds beyond what is possible when sober.

well, you can raft them onto another, faster-growing cactus. that will speed up growth but they should definately have 5 years before harvest. unless you want to consume massive amounts of cactus to compensate for the low potency.

Some people just graft them to other faster growing cacti such as san pedro to increase the growth rate.

Peyote was first used by many Native tribes to get rid of evil spirits.They would prepare themselves for days abstaining from sex and hunting to prepare for the ingestion of peyote. They would build a sweat lodge and prepare a Peyote type food or tea. They beleived that in the sweat lodge while taking Peyote that they would sweat out the evil spirits. They would make long pilgrimages for the Cacti.

Well personally I don't think I need drugs to know who I am but I don know that Peyote was used as a cultural style...Natives didn't use it to get high but to discover who they were... Personally I will probably never do it because I don't think I would be able to handle it but I think I'll stick with Weed.
