How is this at all Cynical? unless of course you are reffering to the modern misconception of Cynicism to mean either Dark depressing misanthropic, or someone who attacks others beliefs.

I was referring to the common usage of the word cynic (small 'c'), not the Greek philosophy. From Merriam-Webster: "one who believes that human conduct is motivated wholly by self-interest". I don't think it's right to call it a "modern misconception". The word has simply evolved a different meaning, as words often do.
