Well they didn't put them through because it would have to be more diversity thing. In the final line up there were more minority male dancers then that of there other counter parts. Another thing is Anthony is a professional dancer and has gone on many tour with different artist, so the fear of him leaving the show in the middle of taping would have been a factor although Alex ended up doing that.

My own personal opinion is this: He didnt make it onto the show because his talent exceeds that of the show. In order to become a contestant on SYTYCD, you must be a great dancer, BUT still have room for improvment. How could he be any better?

They can't select EVERYgreat dancer, cuz then what for next season. I guarantee everyone you did not see make the cut by an inch be on tv next season... that's my opinion though...
to be honest Billy Bell could only do contemporary and Melinda and Jose could barley do much of anything. And Personally Kent Boyd got by on his personality. Adechike could have used a year to get on the show. It would have been better with Robert, Alex, DJ, Anthony, a different hip hopper and someone else. And take Melinda out and put Ariel Croker it would have been sensational.

And not to play devil's advocate (because DJ is undoubtedly spectacular)...but he is a contemporary dancer performing a contemporary piece. I would love to see him dance outside of his genre. I was more impressed with Alex's hip hop routine because it was so foreign to him. I would love to see DJ samba next season!!
He is amazing, as is Anthony. However, it seems as though SYTYCD sometimes overlooks very capable contemporary dancers for dancers with various styles, such as tap and b-boy. While it is unfortunate that DJ and Anthony (both of whom I love) were unable to compete, I guess it affords SYTYCD with more diverse dancers. Personally, I see dancers like Anthony, DJ & Alex finding work without the notoriety of a show. Jose, though talented, may need the exposure. It's all a learning experience anyway!
