Art, as they say, is all in the eye of the beholder, any creation can be art. With video games you see these beautifully created fully immersive worlds. Where simply standing somewheres in game can be a mind blowing experience, look at skyrim, you have a full world created to explore, what is the difference between that and a portrait of a mountainous countryside?
Oh and that guy that commented on your page you mention at the beginning of the video for King of the Web... That was FaZe Temperrr, correct? You talked like you've never heard of him, have you never actually heard of this guy? :P Even if you don't play CoD, I mean, everyone on the internet's heard of his as far as I know. :o Also it's funny that you, with 2000 or so subs, are beating him in KTW with ~700000 subs (between all his channels). :P
ALSO: Why does your health meter look different...?
As to what you are saying about video games being art... I think you need to look at the term 'art' with a broader definition. Example: Would you consider food to be art? Many people wouldn't, but really it is. Same with video games. It is using someone's imagination to create something for others to enjoy. This applies to video games, food, paintings, movies, music, any kind of 'art' you can think of. With this definition, video games most certainly ARE art. What are your thoughts on this..? :P
i would say assasins creed is art but your kind of confusing me when you relate art to a creation that someone would build but i just think its art because it looks cool and stuff. and after every time i play it i run a round the house doing parkour and pretending to kill people... :P
The main problem is that, when trying to find an example, you can't really look at the mainstream AAA games. With very few exceptions like Skyward Sword or Portal, there aren't too many popular games that are truly innovative or artistic. The real art is in Indie games such as Braid, Every Day the Same Dream, or The Cat and the Coup. And those can easily be argued down as "well no one plays those games, so for most games, being an artform is simply untrue."
You've inspired me to play hardcore mode Grev! Though somehow I'm guessing I'll die rather quickly. Keep these superbly entertaining videos coming. Also, random question, do you ever play TF2?
I know i've posted this before but here it is again: i can help u build a custom dual boot (mac-windows) (windows-linux) PC for about like 1000 dollars that is an amazing gaming PC i have one myself that i built and i made it for like 1,400 with a bit extra stuff. MAKE IT TO PLAY DA SKYRIMS
@EmpGrevious do u have any games on steam? GET TF2 (free) and hold an open lobby. or if u have the money get like left for dead 2 or like killing floor.
Nice vid Grev, a few things i feel i should say. 1. Use wooden slabs as the base for the window. It gives more to view and you wont go splat. 2. You asked what video games we thought of as art. Skyrim. thats the only game ive been thinking of for a week. 3. Remember who you are... 4. Being outside is cool unless you get sunburnt and peel like a banana. and 5. I come from a land down under, something something vegemite sandwich!
