  • All you need is windows 7 and an ssd (solid state drive) and then you good to go!!!!

  • 4.2 MHz eh 0:07

  • why ONLY 3 gigs of ram?

  • whats the first song called in the background

  • Fort minor FTW

  • 0:01 "running at 4.2 Mhz"

    4.2 MHz, impressive!

  • Fort Minor, huh?))

  • 1.41v for 4.2Ghz is a bit high :S

  • The setting r controled my asus turbo v software. so i can tweak the setting in the bios manually. jus havent taken the time to play around for hours to find the best settings. plus this is the first designed 920. the newer steppings will be better, they always r.

  • 4.2 is easy to get to, but is it stable? how long did u run prime 95 for?

  • it will be for him, hes gone complete overkill on voltages

  • its easy ans very stable. I ran prime 95 over nite. I dont keep it at 4.2 cuz the heat that the pc creates in my room. can get very hot. plus all the other shit i got running doesnt help. got to keep the windows open or crank up the a/c.

  • @Massive77G dont you hate that? haha

  • Hey bud. i currently have 2 4870's and im getting almost exact setup "upgrading to 920" from dual core. i wana avoid the fate that your 4870's had and also ask. how do you keep them so cool? mine are like 70-80. i build my pc and im proud of it. ive done everything and im starting to think that is poor design in my version or just a faulty fan within the gpu. i have 2 xfx 4870 1g.

  • its the factory fan setting r to low. u can create a profile in ati ccc. there r videos on youtube that show you how to do it. its really easy. i kept mine at around 35-45% fan speed at all times. the fans start to get loud above 35% if remember corrctly.

  • we almost got the same stats chech out my video

  • dude you should do this through bios so much more stable

  • hey a question you have the asus P6T se x58 mobo if so , what voltage i need to take when i OC the I7 920 to 3.0 ghz

    greetings

  • Think im jumping the AMD boat and swimming over to intel next year at income tax time.

oh 6000+ Ye hath served me well.

    But damn thats fast.

Lol 3.2Ghz North Bridge. Hope you've got a good sink on that chipset.

  • That's too late mate, Intel is discontinuing the LGA 1366 i7 processor line to replace it with the lesser LGA 1156 ones that will only have dual-channel memory controllers and limited PCI-express capabilities. This is supposed to happen next month.

  • dont know where you heard that... the 6-core i9 will run on 1366 early next year. plus people need high end hardware, the 1156 motherboards are limited in bandwith for the graphics cards. the 1156 is budget builds, the 1366 is high-end.

  • The i9 is not an i7 though now is it? And it's going to be an Extreme Edition CPU so it's going to cost like 1000 quid,

  • the early i9's are gonna run lga 1366, so i really dont think intel will discontinue the i7's. they still make money on the i7's so that would be stupid to discontinue.

  • That was 3 months ago. Now they announced the i7 930.

  • i wish mine were 4.2 then my computer would be better than an alienware =D but im stuck with 3.2 =(

  • alienware is always crap dude

  • not true mabye the laptops and old desktops of theirs but not the new desktops cause they're fully customizable

  • in terms of buck per performance

    alienware has always been overpriced

i mean the same optimizations (hardware/software/oc) will cost u half the price

but i have to admit they have flashy casings and gotta love the docks.

  • true...

  • @ShawnGlory Dude, i bought the comp just for the case lol, could have got the same build for £200 less if i didn't go Alienware, but i can use this case for life for any new build tbh.

  • 4.2 mhz ...=)) u said it lool ..... my old celeron underclocked at 120 mhz would beat the crap out of yours .... kiddin'

  • Hi. Where can i get this TurboV software?

    Thanks

  • It comes with the motherboard and is designed for the motherboard only.

  • where get i this tool? turbo v ??

  • u need a bigger power supply brother

  • nice PC! nice music ---> linkin park4ever

  • how'd you fry your 4870's

  • Beautiful Rig.

  • I like listening to you, i don't pay attention and i don't care about what you're saying but your voice is relaxing.

  • your spooky...

  • yo whats the name of the temprature program at 3:52 ?

    thx

  • CPUID

  • should i upgrade my q6600/?

  • yes in a hertbeat as soon as possible

  • i was thinking wither wait for scull trail like boards or ait for i ntels new chips, but two i7s would be awesome

  • Man , mines only at 2.4GHZ and i havent seen it 100% Yet , i would stay with it for a while... Then in a couple years . Dual i7's :)

  • do you think a couple of yearss :O i was hoping about 6months

  • very nice pc man, like the red coolant, that sucks ur 4870's died, i can hear fort minor in the back ground, lol, what was the song after fort minor?

  • fried?

    o.O

  • Does the TurboV software come with the Asus P6T Motherboard?? Am buliding an i7 computer myself so i need to know if it does. Nice video by the way. Awsome :D

  • Asus website has the turbo v software listed as 1 of the futures with the P6T mobo.

  • ok, cool. thanks!!

  • ey how did you get the turbo v? i wanna make my computer a lil faster...

i have a hp a6118x 2gb ram 320g hdd vista home prem w/ sp1 installed.. which is starting to run a lil sluggish right now.. any help would really be helpful

  • the turbo v software comes with and is designed for the ASUS P6T Deluxe motherboard.

  • what can i get the i7 to on air with the XIGMATEK Dark Knight

  • You should be able to get 3.8- 4.0 with decent temps. But i would say that under prime95 stress test you'll prolly get really high temps.

  • 3.2 stable easy

  • 4,2ghz works perfectly fine for me top 80c with a mugen/infinity.

  • Fort Minor - Remember The Name

and yeah I like this rig too.

getting almost the same in a couple days.

  • You might want to redo the TIM and your temps should drop. I get lower temps at idle and about the same on load on air. 37c at idle on air. Also the voltage might be to high which is causing more heat then what is needed.

  • Sweet massive is running advanced system care. That program is the shit and a must have for any windows user. Got my 920 at 4.2 at 79c to 81c on air.

  • i have intel DX58SO and i7 940 2.93 ghz can i 4.48 ghz ? my psu is 750w i have zalman to cpu

  • YOu would neeed a water cooling loop to hit 4.48ghz with decent temps. on air your temps would prolly be to high. With a really good water loop you get good temps with extreme overclocks. I've only seen people hit those clocks on water or phase change/LN2.

  • That's why you should have gotten the 920 :)

  • i have the 920

  • the music you're playing really intimidates me...

  • does the turbo v software come with every X58 asus mobo?

  • Turbo v comes with the asus p6t deluxe mobo.

  • 4.44GHz for me!

  • i'm now at 4.46ghz but seems almost impossible to go to 4.5ghz :(

  • Yes..... need a good batch....

  • yeah, just downloaded the turbo v tool as massive mentioned, seems to work pretty good, might hit 4.48ghz

  • Thats badass I havent troed to go that high yet, but will soon. what kinda cooling you using?

  • water cooling

  • What all are you using for you water cooling loop? What setting are you using to hit 4.46ghz? is it stable and whats ur temps?

  • i use tubes, stable but when i try to hit 4.4ghz it doesn't work :S around 40/50 degrees

  • Got 4.5ghz now =)

    Specs:

    2x EVGA GTX 295

    EVGA X58 Motherboard

    6GB Triple Channel Corsair RAM

    500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM

    Antec 1000w PSU

    Thermalthake Armor

    i7 2.93ghz (Upgraded to 4.5ghz)

  • What Vcore? You need a lot more at the higher when past 4Ghz, I need 1.24V for 4.1Ghz on my 965 then up to 1.36V for 4.42Ghz, highest for me into OS was 4.7Ghz so far but temps too hot lol

  • I know but that depends on your power supply too, I got an Antec 1000w Power Supply.

  • where u got the turbo v software ?? or is it from ur asus motherboard and which mb ?

  • Ya turbo v comes with the mobo.

  • I agree with you that Turbo V is awesome. But I don't recommend overclocking with Auto. It usually adds extra unneeded voltage hence extra added heat. Just spend half a day optimizing everything manually until you get it stable on a 30min Prime95 run.

As for the 2 HD's how did you fry them? Where they overclocked because I couldn't tell which ones where they (HSI,MSI,Asus,Saphire?)

  • Ya, i've noticed that it does add more voltage than needed. Ya, i need to spend some time manually overclocking and tweaking. The cards are sapphire and they wre overclocked. I'm not sure how they got fried.

  • Sorry about the cards dude, a real shame. On the bright side it gives you the excuse to blow some dosh on those 295's you plan on getting ;)

Those 4870's run hot and prolly run at 70-80c stock. With the overclock they were at 85c+ easily without a water loop. Oh well guess we live and learn.

  • Thanks man, ya i guess so. Ya it does give me a good reason to upgrade to the 295's which will be alot better than the HD4870's.

  • wat is the program u use that showed the wattage

    nice setup :D

  • I think that was Everest.

  • noe everest cant see wattage :P

  • nope want everest..its something sandra...he shows it at the very beginning

  • Hardware monitor

  • thx for your reply

  • or the name of the company who makes it THX

  • I would bump your RAM voltage back down to 1.65

  • the ram voltage is 1.65 for this ram. Its set a 1.5 and downclock factory, the 1600mhz is set in a XMP profile with 1.65v

  • Ah, I could've sworn in there I saw something like it was set much higher.

  • are 3GB kit 3x1 tri channel enough for GTAIV?

    fast 1600mhz will do right?

  • Corsair says that games get alotmore fps with 6gb then 3gb but I havent seen anyone else test to see if its true or not. I plan to upgrade to 9gb total soon. I would have bought the 6gb kit but not one had it stock.

  • its not necessary with 6gb the guys from Intel said!

they meant that fast tripple channel memory on 1600mhz will do..

I dont know how much you know about technology, but RAM and CPU works thogetter. Almost anybody knows this, so thats why i7 is revolutionary. Because on the Core 2 Platform like E8500 and Q9550 f.ex, u dont get the full MHZ. If u use DDR3 on Core 2 plattform u get max 1066mhz. But with i7 u can go all the way up to 2000 or even more.

Thats why they said a good 3gig will do

  • that's just waste of money.

you won't be able to see more than 8 gb.

you're just showing off that you have money, and i find that irritating...

  • I'm only going to go with a 6GB kit cuz its not that much more than a 3gb kit. Ya in know i dont need more than 8gb. I'm doing it just just cuz i can.

  • 12 gb ddr3 1333 mhz is cheap... lol why not get it?

  • It's cheap now, but at the time it was over $600 for 12gb. Plus you really needs 12gbs

  • How did you fry your 2HD4870s? Did you have water cooling on them or just air cooling?

  • just air cooling.

  • is it really that easy to overclock it? you don't have to downclock the ram to get it stable etc?

  • ya its that wasy and you dont have to down clock the ram.

  • you're touching your GPU without anti-static strap or any sort of protection "while" it's powered on?

    no wonder it's fried now.

  • NO, i have an anti-static strap, i used it and the power was off. everything was working fine for 2 hrs, then i restarted my pc and the cards wouldnt work right then the one card died and the other card wont send any video out.

  • On the video u can clearly see that power is ON, the sound and spinning fans are clear evidence.

And damage from static electricity can show after one hour or 3 weeks. But touching the card while the comp. is on, not very smart.

  • NO, this happened after i replaced the waterblock and changed the cooling. I didn't have any problems with the setup in the vid except the water block started to leak from danger den but none of the feser 1 coolant got on the vga cards. I dont really care cuz I'm going to upgrade to better video cards anyway and sell those hd4870's once i get the RMA'ed. I want to go with the GTX295 in quad sli or GTX285 in sli now.

  • yeh the static straps are poop you should use latex gloves much better chaper aswell

  • hey wat kind of monitors are u using?

  • ACER P223w 22" from newegg.

  • Post some Crysis videos running with your Core i7 rig!!

  • I have a problem, both my ati cards died and have to be RMA'ed, so i got a GTX260 for now and I'm going to get the new GTX295 next month with the step up program since it will be faster then the 2 hd4870's. I going to sell the 2 HD4870's once i get them back.

  • the GTX 295 is a waste of money man. The GTX 285 comes out this jan. 2 of those would eat a 295 up.

  • well I can go with 2 GTX 295 in quad sli, or 2 GTX 285 in sli so what ever is faster is what im going to go with. I just depend on the driver support on sli.

  • yeah 2 GTX285 would eat up 1 GTX295, but u wont need more than 1 anyway so GTX295 KICKS GTX285`S ASS!

  • Hes using a 22" so thats 1680x1050 and with AA on unreleased games, 2 GTX 285's would be more future proof with 1GB of vram instead of the GTX 295's 896mb of vram. Games like GTAIV run a hell of alot better with 1gb of vram, allso the extra vram allows u to crank up the AA more than the 295's 869mb's ever would. Personaly I would say wait till Q2 09 and get the GT212 which will blow both away...

  • GTX295 is 1.7GB of GDDR3 memory.

    btw whats GT212?

  • no, the GTX 295 is 2x 55nm GTX 280's with 896mb's of vram a piece sandwiched together. Its just like every other Nvidia GX2 card, internal SLI in 1 card. If you read up on AFR (Alternate Frame Rendering) u will see that even if u had 200 GTX 280's with 1GB of vram a piece you still only have 1GB of vram, each card loads the same textures, ect, having 2 GTX280's wont allow u to use 2gb's of vram.

  • ye ur right i read it after i commented.. Darn.

The GTX295 is 2x GPU core of GTX280(240x2)

but the specifications are more likely telling that it performs more than a GTX260x2 pluss a little extra.

So the most interesting question here is..

Should i go for the 4870x2 just because it has 1GB og GDDR5 memory or should i go with the new performance king the GTX295?

Which one do you recommend / Which one do you think i should buy?

  • I say wait for the GT212 thats comming out in Q2 09 (April, May, or June). It will be 40nm, 384SP's, 96 TMU's, and 256-bit GDDR5 memory bus. Basicly it is about as big as an increase as from the G92 cards (8800GT/GTS, 9800GTX) to the current GT200b cards (GTX 280/260). It will be WELL worth the wait for the GT212. About 2-4 months and it will be here.

  • I hope this is true since i can only find rumors and slides that show this but no really info that they are going to make these cards. I they do I'll prolly wait, or just upgrade agian. its never ending if you want new technology.

  • Glad you did end up water cooling

  • Yeah that palm edition is a bit useless, especially if you've got the G15 keyboard where you can put the temps and such onto the LED screen.

  • Ya it sux, its really slow and freezes up 2. Ya the G15 is all you need.

  • And I was thinking the whole vid that you better have liquid cooling on that sucker at 4.2 from 2.66

  • Ya water cooling is definitly needed, I ganna try to get 4.4-4.5 this cpu. I just ordered the swiftech GTZ waterblock with adapter cuz the DD block is leaking.

  • Yeah I read that on your other video. Damn, cause I'm on air I am waiting for a decent hs+f to come out that isn't the size of a carbureter. Good luck, I know.

  • I got the new block installed and change the loop, now the cpu runs 15C lower.

  • Wonderful! Did you do Swiftec or Koolance?

  • Ya I went with the Swiftech GTZ WB and changed out the blue fans on the bottom rad with the same red fans i had on the top rad cuz the flow 14cfm more.

  • nice overclock though

  • lol 4.2 mhz

  • my bad i know

  • is that oc stable?

  • yes it is stable, just the temps are extremly high, i getitng a new cpu water block and modin the water cooling setup some.
