Ay bro. Loved it, especially the Jesus part! I am starting out in VO and have faith that the lord will lead me so that I will prosper in this area. My name is Marshall and your prayers are appreciated.
Thanks for this video man! I'm interesting into getting in the world of voice over but in my country, Venezuela. I wish I can get better and then work in USA or Canada. How is your voice over career going? I wish you the best, God bless you.
I'm just a kid who loves any type of acting and has been voice acting for a bit. I don't have fancy equipment or anything like that but I hope to someday. I just have to say the you are so incredibly passionate, that it's inspiring!
I have a voice blessed by God to do that too. I have only dreamed of doing this too. I have done cartoon characters too such as Bullwinkle and Rocky, Barney, Mickey Mouse, Kermit the Frog other characters includes Humpty Hump from Digital Underground and Mystikal(rap artist). Yes I'm a christian as well I write poetry and I'm a published author. I'm on youtube under Les Barnett Pollard this was recorded a year or so back (No Voice Overs). Can you please help me???
Hi, I loved your video. You have the charm, passion, and voice for voice overs. I wish all the success in the world. I'm also interested in pursuing a career in voice overs and have been studying this about a 8 months now. I don't have any videos here yet, but when I do, I hope you can check them out and tell me what you think.
YOU ARE GREAT!!! My brother and i have started our own dj business and we work in a radio studio in scotland, we would love it if you could do a 5 sec voice over for us to use in our upcomming youtube video
That was a great clip sounds wonderful! What kind of set up do you have? Mixer, mic, etc. What did you use to get that movie trailer effects in this clip? Thanks Rob
Jay, Thanks for putting it out there brother. I am grateful for your contribution and have added your clip on my training list. I've wanted to do something with my voice for almost 40 years and now made the commitment to follow through. Just started some coaching and will be doing my first podcast soon reading children stories.
@tylerdurden1971 I received a message on my Voice over page saying, "My Voice Is Better" I believe you, just do something with it and make a difference in the world. God Bless
I gotta just say that this is pretty impressive. I just happened to watch a parody of a cartoon and found myself curious of the voice over process. The main thing that sticks out to me is the passion that this guy has for this, and I applaud it! I know this vid isn't anything major but from his passion and detail I'm now possibly looking to learn more about this. Great job! I salute you for sharing something you feel strongly about. Keep going, and dig in to it even futher!.
Great video brother! I'm looking for a mic now. Do you think the samson g track is a good mic to start out with? or what would you recommend? oh, and it has to be a USB mic.
@bornagain3377 USB is Ok to start with but after you make a few bucks you should upgrade to a good condenser microphone that connects to a regular mic cable and into some interface that connects to your computer. An 'Apogee' a great option.
@CONTAGIOUS7 I decided to rent a mic first. I rented the ART Mfour it is a tube mic. I think it sounds pretty good... but it is hard to tell if the quality really is good, when you don't know what good sound is. Could I send you an mp3 sample when i record one? I am so excited to get going on my new career.
Hi i live in Georgia and I want to become a voice actor I am currently 21 african amercian and it is my dream to become a voice actor can u please help me

Such an inspiring video! I wish you every success in your ventures. I'm seriously looking into this field and you helped that. Can I ask one thing, where do you get your background music from Jay?
hey nunca me imagine encontrar un pastor q hicera voice over yo quiero aprender como hacerlo para editar las presentaciones de mi iglesia si pudieras ayudarme te lo voy a agradecer
Thank you! Very informative! I'm also a Senior Pastor with a desire to venture in the area of profession voiceover. I pray God's blessings upon your pursuits in that area.
Ohh I wish you were my dad, you seem a really cool and talented father. 6:50 OMG it sounded like a movie, hahah if you close your eyes you feel like you are in a theater.
Thanks Jay for sharing this, i'll try something when i get a good mic :]
I really enjoyed watching this! It is really helpful except I don't have any expensive equipment.... Anyways, what would you suggest on doing small voice overs for like sims youtube videos?
The mic is a generic "Sterling Audio." I'm use garage band. for software. I have been traveling all of Latin America on tour with my band. It's hard to find time to do more videos. I will do one soon I promise. Check out the band
i love this video it really helped me with making my voice over audition tapes...ive booked 5 voice over jobs..because of this video thank you so much!!! god bless haha
hi great video, could you give me some help. do you know how it is possible to monitor your voice in real time ? i have a samson C03u usb mic and it isnt possible to have live monitoring, do you know what mic and pre amp i will need to run on a vista computer with live monitoring . hope you can help, thanks
I must tell you that my set up is very simple. I plug up my headphones directly into my computer. This is probably not going to help you BUT i will look into it for you and get you your answer.
JayJay, I want to encourage you, if this is something you would enjoy doing than GO FOR IT. Don't worry about what other people voice sounds like. There is so much work out there in this field I am sure you will find your market. God Bless You and Be Confident. Remember you can do this.
Yeah ! Your words makes me feel confident, don't worry about that, I will not forget it, thanks a lot, God bless you too & keep up yourself. Greetings from France.
well considering that I am a beginner, anything can be helpful. I really need to figure out how to increase range and consistancy. I've agreed to help a friend do a voice or two in an internet series he's trying to put together based on Halo =D
I'll work on putting something together that should help you. It's going to take some time since I'm doing a narration for an independent film. Let me think out what I'm going to video tape before pushing the RECORD BUTTON and up loading it to my YOUTUBE PAGE. Also keep in mind that if you would like for me to help with some recording, shoot me over a script.
Oh man that would be awesome! I still have a few weeks before I record anything and I will definitely send you the script if I am completely lost..lol
I'll double check with my friend if he's cool with me sending it off =D
The trend for some years has been a very conversational almost unprofessional "sounding" read. CONTAGIOUS7 has a beautiful voice, possibly very consistent with what might make a successful DJ. You have a great announcer/promo voice and will probably have success there. I've been in the business since '93 and there is a lot of prejudice toward announcer sounding guys when it comes to commercials.
The Mic that I used in my "Learn to do Voice Over" youtube video is a "Sterling Audio Mic" with a 0db and a -10 db (decibel) roll off switch. It is a generic mic of the more expensive types. That's what I used in my You Tube Video the cost was $299.00. It is well worth every penny. If you have any other questions feel free to write back. God Bless you bro...Sorry for my english it's so bad.Are you part of Contagious Band right? Can you help me please? Can you do a video like this but in spanish, please? The Reason what I going to the cinema is to see the previews and listen The Voice.
Please help me.I want to do a movie trailer for the next Youth Camp in my church. I'm writing you from Costa Rica.
God Bless you brother. Excuse me for my english...it's so bad.Are you part of Contagious Band right? It's a great band Do you speak spanish right? Would you make a kind of video like this but in spanish please, because I understand only some words...sorry.
The trailers is the most important reason what I going to the cinema. I going there only for see it.
I want to do a trailer for a youth camp of my church.
What software are you to process your voice? More important what setting are you using in your software? I have two different software packages Audition and Sonar and can not get my settings correct to create that movie trailer affect to my voice. It seem everyone that I find wants to keep that part of voice over work secret. I am working to do voice overs for my church commercials and TV broadcast. That way I can have excellence for the Father above.
gerald612-I don't use a processor. I am using the Apogee Duet with a Generic Mic call a Sterling Audio mic I bought both at Sam Ash. I can tell you with all honesty what you here is plug n play settings. I don't add anything to my voice. The duet is a excellent system for home use with pro quality. I sometimes use the basic Garage Band effect Under the "Podcasting"Setting "Male Radio Noisy" If I did use an effect this is this one. I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
My set up is a very very very simple set up. All I have is a Generic Mic called" Stirling Audio Mic with a 0db and -10db (Decibel) roll off switch-which cost $299.00 at Sam Ash Music. I use the Apogee Duet $500.00 for my Mac Computer and Garage Band software that come with the mac. I use the "Podcasting"Setting in Garage Band and under that setting look for "Male Radio Noisy" effect. This is what works for my voice. You might need to try other effects for your voice. --God Bless
Remember this -- dboyd 1985 -- God gave you a unique voice that no one has--use it and be you. Everybody is born unique but many die a copy. Be you and use your natural ability. With Gods help you can do this and have a great future in this field of voice overs.
There is more work than there are voice over artists. Look at your local businesses in your area. They are always looking for voice over talent to do a spot for there company. Mom and pop shops are a great start to build a client base. Remember not all small businesses stay small many times they grow and you should grow with them.
Good job. I enjoyed your video. Keep it up. I hope you get to be famous voice over artist. I would like to get into it as well. No idea how though. Good luck to you.
Hi you sound really great! Very professional! I am a student animator and I was just wondering if you would ever be interested in the future if I passed on a few lines of script for my animation projects? This would be really appreciated, but I can understand if you don't really have the time for this sort of thing being a family man and such. Thanks for your time
Keith it would be my pleasure to help you out . The good thing about voice over is that it is a very flexible career. Shoot me a script sometime. I'd love to do it.
Thanks so much, that would be really awesome! At the moment I don't have much in terms of voice overs in my briefs, but sometime at the start of next year I should have some big projects coming up. Thanks again!
