I think Jessica became very much absorbed in celebrity. While Nick is more of a laid back type of person who just wanted a "normal" life/marriage. It was apparent from the beginning that she was too young to be tied down. She still needed to get things out of her system. But at the same time she knew Nick was a good catch.

However, in the end, the truth always prevails. And the truth was that maybe they were right for each other in some ways but the timing wasn't right. Just my take.
