They are the well known TV program hosts/hostesses in ShangHai. They are the celebrities out there to remind people of ShangHai the traditional values
of being nice & friendly & polite & helpful & .., in an effort to make ShangHai a nicer place for people to live, and a more welcoming for people to visit.
You know the best part? Shanghai Media Group have just produced another one, that plays on every bus , every subway, most taxi's, and all public screens...
It is all about the strenuous humanitarian efforts the China is making in the Sudan, to make Darfur a nice place for the poor African brothers to live in.
Brings tears to my eyes. I dream of this day. Sueño con el día en que sea así. If only parents would teach their kids this stuff in the East instead of the mass media, but sure beats the stuff I see on TV in the West.
Scary though, we may trade places as far as politeness if the Eastern media keeps this up.
At first I was confused - on one hand I recognised the locations as being in China, but on the other hand the people were washed and clean, they weren't sh1tting on the footpath or spitting on the floor, they were smiling and actually noticed the existance of other people, and they were behaving in a thoughtful and helpful manner.
The it struck me - the people in the clip were Japanese tourists.
If Chinese could be as civilised and decent as Japanese then China would be a nice place to live...
China is nothing like that, actually the exact opposite. We can only hope that 1 billion Chinese people will see this and learn to be polite. Good luck!
Well, I've been at O'Hare, let's just say that the TSA crowd there wasn't exactly all singing all dancing [they might have had an especially bad day. If -that- was how they usually work... wow, just... wow...]. When you look at how the Chinese comport themselves, that's an example for the rest of the planet.
If it wasn't such an insanely complex language, I'd be happy to learn Mandarin.
If there were ever a video to show exactly what Chinese people are NOT like, this is it. Incredible you have to actually teach these kind of things to adults.
How do you write "irony" in Chinese?

Guys, China is absolutely the reverse of this, why do you think they need to show videos to people to encourage them to change their ways?

This is indeed a science fiction movie. The year is 7008. Another 5000 years of developing has passed.

The Chinese are my new best friends!
A people that is so courteous and welcoming has to be the best on the planet.
And here I was thinking that the best you could do in the world was an inspection by the TSA in O'Hare in Chicago.
Go China!
